Windrunner
I have read it, finished a few weeks back. I won't be spoilery for you. In short, I liked it, but not as much as I liked the first two. It was fun, but didn't have as much of the heist feel to it that I so enjoyed from the others. Fixing the election was an interesting conflict, but I never really felt any tension from that because, at worst, Jean and Locke get turned out of the city for their failure. I was actually far more interested in the flashbacks in this book. I really enjoyed finally getting a look at Sabetha. But, for the most part, I really enjoyed it, and I feel like Lynch is back, which I'm very happy about. Full Book Spoilers Not sure how I feel about the whole, "Locke is a reborn Bondsmagi" thing yet. But I do like the hints about the Eldren that we're getting, and the foreboding about what drove them away.
deddinty
It suffered a bit from "middle book syndrome", a book that feels like it's introducing the larger enemy and conflict to come in subsequent releases. I did enjoying seeing Sabetha, but I hope she's not as prominent in the future. I prefer Locke's whining about her than, well, having her around. That's not to say I didn't thoroughly enjoy it of course.
The Rooster
I really loved it. I'd starting leaving Lynch off my list of current top notch epic fantasy authors (GRRM, BS, Pat Rothfuss, PV Brett, Brent Weeks and maybe Brian Mclellan and Saladin Ahmed if their second books shape up). But he's back on the list Baby!
ADIMORTIS
I really love his writing style and one of the few authors whose writing style is unique. Creating an alien-ish world and making it sound believable is his greatest strength. And also the insults . Just love them.
Gamma Fiend
Just finished it up, been waiting to post in this thread while reading the books.Gotta say, I love Locke and Jean's characters, they are one of the best duos around. I do think this third one was not as exciting or hooking as the first two, though. Like mentioned above, the election rigging didn't seem as epic or crazy of a scheme.and I'm also not sure how I feel about Lockes past, the whole 'reborn' bondsmagi or whatever. I feel like Locke is a good enough character already, doesn't need some magical past to make him cooler or more interesting. Also, I HATE Sabetha. Ugh. Every chapter Locke spends pining over her makes me lose more and more respect for him. Yeah, he's in love or some stupid crap like that, and there's probably a lot more going on with her being red-headed and stupid memories from his past, or whatever. But she just rhymes with Witch. I understand that her personality is just what we expected after the first two books, but I dunno. I just am not feeling this romance. Locke needs to get his rust together, or Jean is just going to have to slap him into sense.I hope we spend another 2 books without her, just saying.
Tamzin Ashevai
I was so excited for this book because we finally got a real look at Sabetha! After reading it, I remain unfulfilled. Perhaps I expected so much more than the novel delivered. I don't quite know. While the back-story was excellent, the present left me questioning (as intended, I surmise). Scott Lynch has a helluva story on his hands and I really hope he can complete it!
Edgar Targarien
I didn't like the plot twist at the end and I was just as confused as Locke about it. I felt with the whole Locke and Sabetha romance, it got quite annoying like the Kvothe and Denna one. I preferred Locke in the previous two books. But it was nice to have those flashbacks with the Sanza twins.
Briar King
I can't say I liked this one. It was very meh and not in the same cat as 1 & 2. I hated those few Locke age 5-7 Arcs. Wow they were horrible to me.
