I should have known you'd announce yours with a pug. :P

Who is your favorite incarnation of the Master in Doctor Who?

What would happen if Doctor Funtimes met Susan Gillespie?

There's another way to announce things?

So far, I'd name John Simm as my favorite. You know how they say you never forget your first Doctor? Well, I think the same holds true for the Master. He was my introduction to the character, and his spontaneous brand of evil has never left my psyche. I'm tempted to call it "madness with a method," but in some cases, I think that for Simm's Master, madness was the method. I'm still not entirely convinced he didn't decide on something crazily evil to do and then come up with a reason for it, rather than the other way around.

That, more than anything, is what made an impression on me: Simm's Master is wild and carefree about his evil schemes, the way the Doctor is wild and carefree with his fun. He does evil for the thrill of it, and in some ways, I got the idea that taking over the world was just a bonus. So much of what he did was almost cool, his humor almost funny rather than just sadistic. Simm's Master could've been another Doctor-like Time Lord, and his choice to be evil was what made him so terrifying. He was the perfect foil for Ten, and although he was long gone by the time Tennant's Doctor regenerated, he would've been a chilling foil for Eleven as well.

(And yes, I'm still mad about the BBC not releasing the scene of Simm's Master pushing Ten around in a wheelchair singing "I Can't Decide" on Netflix.

That said, I adored Michelle Gomez as Missy. Her manic energy was perfectly balanced by the occasions where she showed restraint, and she was, hands-down, the perfect person to play the Master's first regeneration as a woman. I sincerely hope she returns, because if she played the villain in a few more episodes, I think she could give John Simm a run for his money.

If Doctor Funtimes met Susan Gillespie, Susan would dedicate more effort than usual to charting out her potential futures. Not only would they usually change rather quickly, but nearly all of them would mark her as dangerous, so Susan would do everything within her power to keep Funtimes occupied. One of those things would almost certainly be befriending Funtimes, which Susan would do, trying not to make weird faces at the futures where Funtimes turned jelly beans into earrings or challenged people to a ketchup-drinking contest.

I know that pugs are adorable but why?

If you had to choose a Calling, which would it be?

Why are pugs adorable?

Uh…sorry. Got distracted there for a second.

Having owned pugs, I can tell you that they have the most personality of any dog breed I've yet encountered, and every personality is wildly different. Bruno, for example, sees himself as our house's safety commissioner, and will walk around performing "safety inspections." When we get in the pool, he'll stand at the edge and bark at us until we get out, because he sees the pool as dangerous. Mollie, on the other hand, sees me and my family as the wisest beings ever, and will sit on the floor or on the stairs studying us. (She also likes to shred napkins, but we don't talk about that. <_<) Both of them love wearing clothes—Mollie likes ribbons, Bruno likes scarves, and they both love the winged harnesses we got them for Halloween. (Bruno is Batpug, and Mollie is a puggerfly.)

Basically, it's easier to list the things pugs do that aren't adorable.

Ummm…..I think I'd choose writing. Though overall, I find the Vorin religion too restrictive (and not just because I don't like covering my safehand.). I know we're not at a point in the Stormlight series where we've seen in-depth looks at religions other than Vorinism, but if I were on Roshar, I'd either choose a faith that allowed more freedoms to its adherents, or attempt to reform Vorinism, as it appears things were less restrictive in the past.

If you HAD to live in Utah, where would you live?

Probably Park City. My parents always talk about the snow and the trees when they go, so I'd probably pick Park City because of that. (Yes I'm horribly shallow don't judge me.

That pug looks suspicious - should I be worried? I can just about recall a scene from an espionage film wherein an informant had that very same expression and paranoid attitude; they're on to me, he seemed to be saying. And I just knew that he would get murdered right before he could give the protagonist vital information...

As for my question, is that your pug? If so, don't let him set up clandestine meetings with 007, he will get murdered and his body left at the meeting place to set the protagonist on a revenge-fueled mission.

NO ONE WILL MURDER PUGS ON MY WATCH—

Oh. You're being facetious. Okay. ^_^

No, that's not my pug, though Mollie has done similar things when she wanted to be let into a room.

What is your opinion on Owl City?

I love Owl City. Some of his songs are a bit too bubblegum for my tastes, but there are others I absolutely adore. "Galaxies," "Hello Seattle," "Hot Air Balloon" and "The Saltwater Room" are some of my favorites. Not only do I love the catchiness of those songs, but I love their sense of innocence.

WHAT IS THIS HOW HAVE I NOT HEARD GALAXIES BEFORE

They are all definitely awesome. :D

I think I need to go buy some albums now.

Okay... one more question so I don't accidentally derail this: Do you play any instruments? If so, which one(s)? If not, what would you play if you could?

I don't play any instruments, sadly. I once tried to learn piano, but I couldn't make my fingers move the way they should. Since I have a pretty fast typing speed, I don't know if that's odd or not, but I couldn't make myself learn it.

If I could choose one instrument to play perfectly….hmmm….I think it'd be a tie between guitar and drums.

Favorite mythological creature?

Favorite emoji?

Favorite bird?

I don't really have a favorite mythological creature. I think different parts of myths speak to different people—some find a sense of wonder in selkies or phoenixes or sirens or what have you, but I find the creatures themselves just sort of….meh. It's the stories themselves that strike me, and some of my favorites come from the First Nations. I've never really liked Greek or Roman myths. Some of them are okay, but for me, they never really rose above the level of "okay," and I don't know why.

I don't really use emojis, but I like the party hat. guess-the-emoji-up-322.jpg And I like it for a pretty dumb reason: When I'm just glancing at my teeny-tiny phone screen, the party hat kind of looks like a pizza slice, and I love pizza.

I don't know that I have one. I love eagles and hawks and other birds of prey, but I also love graceful tropical birds like the quetzalcoatl.

And I find quail hilarious and adorable in turns.

Oooooo. Pizza. Chicago style is the best. Also you find quail humorous?  :P Whatever for?

They're very comical-looking, for one, with their chubby bodies and headcrests and stubby little wings. But what really makes them hilarious, in my book, is the way they respond to danger. Picture two quail walking along an empty highway, bobbing their heads back and forth, when a car appears.

"What the—oh no! It's a car! RUN!"

"It's too fast, Larry! We'll never outrun it!"

"It's gaining on us! AAAAGGGGHHHHH I'm so scared I'm flapping these useless appendages at my sides!"

"So am I!"

"AAAAAAHHHHHHHH WHY IS THE GROUND SO FAR AWAY NOW?"

"WHY ARE WE MOVING FORWARD IN THE AIR AT AN ALARMING RATE?"

"OKAY I'VE TOUCHED DOWN EVERYTHING IS OKAY NOW."

"LAND! SWEET LAND!"

I know they don't usually fly because they're so heavy for their size that flight is exhausting, but still. :P

The Doctor decides to get a pet for the TARDIS. What should he get?

(You aren't allowed to say 'Pug', even if they would look adorable in Gallifrey Time Lord-robes)

A Dutch mastiff. And yes, that's another name for pugs. You said I wasn't allowed to say "pug," but you didn't say he wasn't allowed to get a pug. Just that I couldn't say it.

If he absolutely cannot have that specific breed of dog, then he should have the dinosaur from this clip I'm sure Jurassic Park fans would like to forget. The thought of the Doctor having a pet dinosaur that says nothing but "Alan!" is funny to me. :P

Is there a particular person or event that made you want to be a librarian?

When I first moved to Tucson with my parents, I had a communications degree but difficulty finding a job for it. And I looked everywhere. Long story short, I finally found a job as a library assistant at a local high school. It was full-time work for part-time pay; the school had too many rules that didn't make sense, no matter how much people tried to explain them ("Kids aren't allowed to bring Tylenol or other over-the-counter pills for minor aches and pains because if they fall on the floor then the Special Ed kids will think they're candy and eat them off the floor"); and half the teachers were crazy, but I fell in love with the things a librarian did. Those days when I got to help a student find a book they'd never read but wound up loving, or when I helped one of them with a project where they were stuck (one girl had trouble understanding exactly how the Columbia Plateau affected Washington State; having lived there, I explained that the Plateau essentially turns all of Central Washington into a desert while the East and West sides of the state are green and pretty) were some of the best on the job.

I was laid off at the end of the year due to "budget cuts" (read: a public school-funding tax failed on the ballot, and the school didn't have enough money to keep me and other support staff on and renovate the football field <_<), but I'd already been accepted to the only American Library Association-accredited library program in town, which happened to be at a nationally recognized university, so it worked out okay.

Have you ever watched The Librarian movies?

No. Are they good?

What kind of a job can one theoretically get with a communications degree? I'm considering one but not actually sure it'll get me anywhere except into debt :/. Edited by Delightful

In the US, theoretically, you can get a job in anything from generic office work to public relations. And while it's true that many of those jobs call for a four-year degree, it doesn't account for (or explain) the fact that they almost all want at least one to three years of prior on-the-job experience. No, that doesn't make sense. I mean, why list a job as "entry level" if you're going to require all applicants to have prior experience? THAT IS NOT WHAT "ENTRY-LEVEL" MEANS, GUYS
