House War

It is the seven hundredth year of the Lord Ruler's reign. There has not been a House War since the 612th year of the Lord Ruler's reign.

This means that there has been plenty of times for tensions to build.

What houses will collapse in the chaos of a House War?

Chapter 1

Cecile Urbain felt her feet thud onto the ground. Pewter strengthened her body. The jump would've injured an ordinary Coinshot-but Cecile was no Coinshot.

The guards opened their mouths to scream. Perhaps they had guessed what she was.

Mistborn.

The mists swirled around her. The cloak swished around her.

Cecile was here to kill. Her orders, straight from Malev Urbain himself, was to kill one of the cousins to the line of House Kareff and to not be seen. Kareff had been insulting one of Urbain's rival houses in deals lately. And the cousin, Falon, had been a long suspected Kareff Rioter. A very skilled one.

It was time to remove a talented Rioter and drive a wedge between Kareff and Tekiel.

Cecile burned iron. Blue lines sprung up all around her. She Pulled on the one connected her to the breastplate of the first guard. Cecile was heavily built and the guard was caught off guard. He had no time to dig his heels in.

The guard stumbled towards Cecile, whose dagger caught him in the side. The other guard froze in shock. They knew what to expect, that it was possible for a Mistborn to attack. But knowing the possibility and experiencing it? Those were two very separate things.

The first guard collapsed to the ground. Cecile turned and kicked the second guard. So fast, he was caught off guard. She turned and slit the man's throat. She then shoved their bodies off of the wall.

Cecile dropped a coin to the ground. She jumped off of the wall and plummeted towards the ground. She burned steel and Pushed on it just as she was about to make contact with the ground. She Pushed up just hard enough to stop the fall. She fell down the rest of the distance.

Cecile picked the coin up off of the ground and put it back in her pouch. Hopefully their bodies aren't discovered until dawn, at least.

Cecile had copper burning within her, masking her allomancy, but it was time to be more cautious. Even in peacetime, most nobles kept a Tineye on watch within the palace.

She burned tin herself. The cold nipped at her body more, though pewter kept her immune to the worst of it. The mist turned opaque. A figure off in the distance stared off the walls. Another guard. She took note of where the other guards stood.

Cecile stepped towards the walls of the Keep itself and picked out another coin. She dropped it and Pushed on it softly. She Pushed slowly harder and harder, raising her up to the first level of windows. Cecile grabbed the sill and Pulled on the coin softly. It shot towards her through the dark. She dodged it and grabbed it out of the air, pewter lending her the power to do such feats.

Cecile tried to pull up the window. It stuck. Cecile yanked harder. It wouldn't open. She cursed under her breath. She shot the coin into the window and it made a shattering noise. A hole opened. Cecile pulled herself into it. The glass shards cut her, but she found herself in anyway. She stood in the middle of a hall.

She had memorized layouts of Keep Kareff. Falon should be... that way. Cecile dashed down the halls. She hoped she wouldn't meet anyone else.

There was his door. Cecile yanked it open and tip toed in. He was sound asleep.

Cecile cut the man's throat and cracked another window. She jumped out and Pushed off of a statue in the courtyard.

Easy.

Perhaps too easy?
