So... has anyone else noticed the similarity between Jason Write and Orson Scott Card's Jason Worthing? I mean, they're both people who are trying to protect humanity- and not juts physically, but morally too. Not to mention the similarity of their names... I'd certainly like a longer story in this universe, even though i usually prefer fantasy over SF and cosmere over non-cosmere. I don't really see the similarity between the short story and Worthing myself. Worthing Saga had a very strong focus on Bad Things that's not present in Defending Elysium. Returning to Defending Elysium would be depressing, in my opinion. Just a bunch of Realpolitik once the veil had been lifted. Though there isn't much point in discussing since Peter's statement, I strongly disagree: For one thing, there could be great stories set before DE, for another, there could be more about the "lifting of the veil" and for a third, "Realpolitik" doesn't sound bad at all (to me), if written in such a great SF-setting and by such a great author as Brandon. I haven't read them myself, and I've read a lot of Card. Peter, you haven't read the Worthing Saga? You know, I just have to accept that what I have done is not what other people have done. Silly, I know, but surprising to me none the less. The Worthing Saga might have been the third Card book I ever read as a kid, after Wryms (which I didn't like very much) and Ender's Games (which I did, a lot!). Worthing Saga retains a fond place in my heart as one of the nifty stories that got me hooked on Card. Later, as an adult, I found Hot Sleep, and didn't realize it was parts of the same story until I was halfway through the book and was confused by my ability to guess what was going to happen next in the story. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
