  1. Inspired by the Navani Bondsmith thread, I was thinking about it and I think that Rock is going to be a Bondsmith. Or at least has the potential to move in that direction. Lets look at the Evidence Likely the King of the Horneater Peaks One of the goals of his brother was to Unite the Horneater Peaks, a goal which Rock could easily take up. A high awareness of spren Very pious and respectful of the spren Already Radiant Does not prefer to engage in combat A hub for Bridge Four, Everyone likes him great advice makes it possible for the unit to bond over food So this is largely a crackpot theory at the moment, but at least from a cursory glance, to me at least, it seems to hold water. I would love to hear other people's thoughts and input, so get in here and try to break this theory.
  2. So we know we're getting flashback books in the back five from characters that are currently active. Now those flashbacks don't have to be concurrent with the current narrative, but say they are. What crazy stuff is happening right now that we won't find out about for another ten or fifteen years? My money's on May Aladar having a torrid affair with Renarin and/or Jasnah that ends with her being killed to stop her from activating a doomsday fabrial at the moment of Shallan and Adolin's wedding.
  3. I am looking for some feedback on my Surgebinding chart that has been updated for Oathbringer. I am sure many of you saw Connections that I missed. I have included an Excel doc, a PDF doc, and picture for your viewing pleasure. And here we go: Stormlight.pdf Stormlight.xlsx
  4. So, with the revelation from one of the new signings here that.... My mind has instantly raced, and something clicked, to let me come up with this quick little mini-theory about something we've been curious about for a while. Why Harmony hasn't done more to help the Southern Scadrians? He created the Basin for the North, but essentially left the South to freeze, and aside from - BOM spoilers has seemed to not do much for them in terms of development, from what we've seen. I could get into all kinds of rambling about Ruin and Preservation, that he's preserving the North while letting the South fall to ruin, him protecting Scadrial from the Red Haze, etc, but my current thought and random speculation is this. Harmony has been unable to actively help or influence the Southern Scadrians as much as the Nothern ones.... because he's been in the process of Investing his power in the South. The Well of Ascension was in the North, and we've seen that the Pits of Hathsin don't have any Atium, and therefore Ruin's Investiture/power in them. We've had WOBs before about the existence of Harmonium and Harmony's Shardpool, and I believe that if Sazed was actively trying to imbue his power into the South, or at least more south than the North to balance the distribution of it, he would be unable to overtly take action aside from sending the help I mentioned above. This would explain the abundance of Ettmetal, Harmonium, in the South, and why there's none of it in the North, because Harmony was already Connected/Invested there and helped them as much as he could with the Basin and books, and then moved his power to begin Investing/Connecting with the South to be able to help them. This naturally creates his Godmetal there. Thoughts? This is just a quick, off the top of my head connecting of dots so far.
  5. So...I'm really just looking to start a fresh discussion about the Unmade. I've got several theories and am very interested in hearing some of yours as well. Many of you are also way better and referencing WoBs and other cannon material than I am so I am eager for your input. By the way...I hate having to do the whole spoiler tag thing so just assume that every post could possibly contain spoilers... To get started, I'm just going to put some stuff out there for you guys to pick at. - The Unmade are slivers of Odium...true or false? - There are 10 Unmade that are the opposite of the 10 heralds...? - The giant figures that Kalidin and Shallan see striding the storm were Unmade. It is my personal theory that the Unmade are somehow fuelled by...created by...tied too...the heralds' torment in damnation between desolations. I've also seen it tossed around that the mysterious Black Sphere may somehow be tied to the presence of one of the unmade. Let me no longer hurt! Let me no longer weep! Dai-gonarthis! The Black Fisher holds my sorrow and consumes it! We know that Moleach causes the Death Rattles. We know that another one (not sure of the name) causes the Thrill. -Are there any other unusual phenomenon that could potentially be attributed to the presence (proximity) of Unmade? GO!
  6. So in the aftermath of the Final Ascension we know that Kelsier is sticking around in the Cognitive Realm with Sazed, while Vin and Elend are happily enjoying themselves in the Spiritual Realm (Somewhere) and they aren't coming back. However Sazed is working on a way to bring people back to life. We also know from an interview with Brandon, I don't want to find the exact quote, that Kelsier's bones survived the Final Ascension and are somewhere. I think that Kelsier is going to be coming back sometime in the second or third trilogies. Evidence to support it: Brandon has said that Vin and Elend are not coming back, specifically those two. However he makes no mention of Kelsier. We know that Kelsier loves to meddle around and is probably causing Harmony no end of annoyance doing so in the Cognitive Realm Like I said above his bones are still there and Harmony can repair damage to a body as we see when he reattached Elend's head in the field of Mare's flowers at the end of HoA. Harmony has somehow made it so that the area around Elendel will never ever be over farmed and will always be perfect for growing food. Marsh is still around and is doing Harmonies work, or so we think. He also is very conspicuous and would make a terrible agent to do thing quietly without people being suspicious. The spikes in his head and the tattoos are really out of place in Alloy of Law. The Kandra are also going around spiking people, like Wax, so that they can communicate with Harmony and Harmony can communicate with them. However they seem to take very little action other than that. Kelsier hates Hoid. As far as we know he's only met Hoid once, in the first book and he wasn't trying to kill Hoid at the time, in fact he sounded like he respected Hoid. With the above evidence showing that while Harmony doesn't exactly meddle in the day to day affairs of the world; he does go around making sure that things aren't going to hell and that the descendants of his friends are at least alright. Bringing back Kelsier as a personal hitman when Marsh would be too conspicuous would make a lot of sense and he might even make Kelsier a full keeper as well in order to keep himself alive afterwards. Evidence Somewhat Contradictory: However this doesn't mean he can't bring back Kelsier! He said it's going to happen, albeit very rarely. Edit: Found a quote from Brandon on bringing people back. Sorry for the blue outline around Elend's name it's how I am searching for this quote regarding Elend and Vin's current location Quotes I'm referencing above in case you want to read them. Regarding Kelsier's Bones: Regarding Sazed/Harmony being able to bring people back:
