  1. Hey, so I was thinking about each person putting a single post, a message to themself or another, maybe why they joined the shard or something else. I guess this is mine, yet another idea, maybe a bad idea, maybe good, only time will tell.
  2. Hello there! I'm a longtime fan of Sanderson, ever since I found the Alcatraz series at 12 I've avidly read everything I could get my hands on. I'm particularly anticipatory of Alcatraz 6, The Azlantian, and the Cosmere, which is why I'm creating this account now. Like many of you, I recently finished reading Rhythm of War (don't worry, no spoilers), and I was completely blown away, so much so that I decided to start editing on the wiki and join up here. I'm thrilled to be a part of the Sanderson fandom and am super enthusiastic to share all my crazy Cosmere theories with you all!
  3. Hello guys! My name is Daniella, I'm from Venezuela and I joined the discord server and this forum a few weeks ago when I finished reading all Cosmere stories for the first time, but I haven't been active in introducing myself or discussing anything and it feels like I'm being a creepy stalker if I don't at least introduce myself... I think this community is so cool and I hope I can make some friends here as I've only convinced two people I know to start reading a Sanderson book so far haha. Anyhow, my tag name is Nana303 is discord and I'll introduce myself there today as well. Happy reading!
  4. Hey all, Long overdue hello. After reading Oathbringer and someone told me about the wider cosmere been on and off the forums and Shardcast is life! Especially with two young ones. Very keen for Rhythm of War and all the wider theories that spring out of it. Keep up the quality content and Coppermind slog. If you could be any character other than Hoid, who would you be ? Mine is Szeth for the best buddy cop duo since the other guys.
  5. Hello! Happy to call myself a Worldhopper! I'm ashamed, however, to say that I've known of 17th Shard for almost as long as I've known of Sanderson's existence, and only just joined. Now, before you cast me to the Pits of Hathsin, I had only read the first Mistborn book from the first era and was afraid of being spoiled of things I knew nothing about. I took a few quick glances here and there on the site and read several things that almost instantaneously shattered my Shardblade on contact. My reasoning for staying away at the time was undeniable. But, I'm excited to be here, and I'm just going to do my best to remain unspoiled until I finish absorbing his work. So far, I've read the original Mistborn trilogy, The Way of Kings, Steelheart, Firefight and Children of the Nameless. I own several more books than this, but I was trying to pace myself through them so that I don't run out. I think I'm leaning towards casting that notion to the winds of a Highstorm and doing the exact opposite - volunteering for the front of a bridge carry. I should be fine. I know of at least one other who has done it and survived...
  6. Hey guys, I've been ghost browsing the 17th Shard for some time now and I finally decided to join. I'm really excited to meet all of you Cosmere experts, and I hope we'll all have a good time. Personal info: My favorite Sanderson book so far would probs be Mistborn, because it has a really creative magic system, with Steelpushing and Ironpulling, set in a classical dystopia. I would probably be an Edgedancer I hate Moash (who doesn't) My favorite character is Tien By the way, could someone explain to me how guilds work on this forum? I read a few posts but I don't really understand... So that's it from me! Bye!
  7. Name is blueyedturtle, aka Donya, I fell in <3 with Brandon Sanderson after finally finishing The Wheel of Time series. And while I feel quite sacrilegious voicing this aloud, Sanderson's writing style redeemed the entire series for me. Since then I've been hooked. I read the 1st 3 of the Mistborn series and just finished book 1 of The Stormlight Archives and cannot wait to continue with both series.
  8. Hello everybody! I may or may not have stolen Will's kindle library for the soul purpose of reading Elantris for the first time! I've already read the first eight wheel of time books, and am about thirty percent of the way through Elantris. I love reading and Will showed me this awesome forum!
  9. Hi all! I joined a while ago and didn't bother to introduce myself. However, it has recently come to my attention that there are WELCOME COOKIES available when you introduce yourself, so here we go! I suppose I should say things about myself: A friend got me into Mistborn Trilogy... I liked it, but found some of the twists frustrating, especially as they were things I'd predicted for earlier books. I can't be more specific without ruining it for people. (Though obviously as I'm here I enjoyed the books...) I love the systematic nature of the metallic arts, though I find it irritating that full-Feruchemy and full-Allomancy have converged so infrequently... honestly those systems seem made for each other! Allomantic-Steel and Iron, and Feruchemical Iron as a trio seem particularly like they were meant to be together... what I'm saying is, if someone offered me the choice between personally having every system in the Cosmere (including possession of both a Shard-blade and a Shard-plate, and other object based investiture systems) except the Scadrian ones (and it was imposed that I could never gain use of the Scadrian ones, no matter what) or having both full-Feruchemy and full-Allomancy, I would probably go with the latter option. It helps that I'm presently obsessed with the MAG. I've also read Warbreaker, and I think Brandon really improved as a writer, so I look forward to being able to afford to get his other books (though I've read a fair bit about the wider Cosmere... I couldn't resist)
