  1. i just love these two so i made this
  2. From the album: ShiroXIX's Art

I love their relationship and I hope we see more of them.
  3. They named it Renlain, but they lied. Our Sharders lied. Oh, how they lied. Rlainarin comes. I hear the screams of fans, see its gayness, know its Soft Vibes. Here is a poll, let us war
  4. I asked this on Reddit, but no one had an actual answer for me, so I'll try here. In OB, people noticed that Rlain was oddly absent from the second half; the beta readers confirmed that Brandon did it on purpose. Most people assumed, from that comment, that he was off on a mission, possibly spying on the Singers or trying to find the remaining Listeners. Well, RoW has come and gone, and it seems neither of those things is true. Rlain had no idea there were any Listeners left, and his Singer spy arc was this book. So... am I missing something? What was he up to offscreen in OB?
  5. So Rhythm of War gave us quite a few interesting tidbits about Mistspren. I'll start with the most startling observation: at the end of the book there are only 4 known bonds, and 2 of these have chosen to be corrupted by Sja-Anat. Considering that only a handful of higher spren have chosen this, it's rather interesting that the only 2 confirmed ones are Mistspren. But after consideration, I realized that it actually makes sense that if any type spren would volunteer, it's them. First, look at the humans the uncorrupted ones bonded or, in Ym's case, wanted to bond: misfits who try to help those even less fortunate than them, and have accepted 2 things: 1) no one is going to praise them for their work, 2) an imperfect world requires imperfect solutions. Hence why Ym tries to find the best type of shoes for the orphans he has in stock and why the Stump is willing to engage in money laundering. Secondly, the ancient Truthwatchers were 'scientists, scholars, and tinkers', and 'concerned with abuse of power, as well as finding out the truth'. Thirdly, the ancient Truthwatchers were involved in the binding of Ba-Ado-Mishram, and they may thus be aware of the links Kelek mentions between the Unmade, spren, and all of Roshar. Some residue of this knowledge may still be known among their (surviving) spren. Fourthly, according to Kelek several spren were considering joining Odium's forces. And fifthly: the 2 corrupted Mistspren have chosen candidates with the same criteria as the uncorrupted ones. Now imagine a type of spren which is inquisitive, interested in esoteric truths, and willing to use unorthodox methods. Wouldn't this type of spren be interested in exploring the phenonom of Sja-Anat's corruption as an alternative means to end the conflict? So my theory is that the Mistspren (or else: a group of them) deliberately agreed to let Sja-Anat corrupt a handful of them in order to study the effects of this corruption on them and on the Radiant bond.
  6. This is really just a discussion for everyone to add their ideas onto, but to get it started off: Whether a member dies while fighting the fused, a freak accident, or while protecting someone else, the most likely candidates for who I think will kick the bucket in Bridge 4 would have to be Lopen, Rock, and Teft. While I don't necessarily think they'll have to die in order for Kaladin to swear the 4th ideal, I do think their deaths could be his breaking point. And if there's anything that Sanderson likes to do with characters, it's break them. After working so hard to protect Bridge 4 and essentially bring them out of the trenches, it would tear Kaladin apart to see one of them die- or even get injured as we saw in Words of Radiance with Hobber. So while that's true, the most impactful deaths for the reader would be a character that we've been the given the chance to get to know. And so that brings my first candidate, Lopen. I have to say that he is the most probable character for me as of now. Lopen is sort of like a class-clown in Bridge 4 in that he tends to mess and joke around much more than the others, and so it would come as a shock to the readers to suddenly have him cut down and die, leaving a hole in Bridge 4. Without Lopen, they'd be out of a serious need for laughter and light-heartedness and anyone who knows Bridge 4's story knows that that's something they desperately need. Next up is Rock, but I will admit that I don't think Sanderson will kill Rock- at least not in the first half of the books. The biggest reason he just made my list is because of how much it would hurt the readers. Rock has been a big figure in Bridge 4 since the beginning, and with just that it would make his death heartbreaking. But adding on to how we were able to meet his family in Oathbringer and seeing just how much he cares about everyone around him with the chapters from his point-of-view, the readers would definitely be in tears. Add on the possibility of him dying while trying to tell Kaladin about the Horneater Peaks (of which he always told Kaladin he'd bring him to) and Sanderson has a whole fanbase weeping. Now is the time for Teft. Teft's death seems both logical and inevitable to me. He served as a friend and leader to Bridge 4 and was a major reason for them getting as strong as they currently are with him helping to train them. The only person to play a bigger role in the rehabilitation of Bridge 4 is Kaladin, and Kaladin himself holds high respect for Teft. Bottom line, his death would be devastating to the moral of Bridge 4. Without Teft, I'm not entirely sure how Bridge 4 would carry on. Everything they would do would remind them that Teft isn't there as it was Teft who helped to train them with the spear, first told them of the Radiant powers with Kaladin, and essentially acted as a grumpy uncle. That's all from me. Tell me what you guys think! How would the other members react to one of their own dying? What would it mean for the story? HOW do you think they'd die?
  7. I was wondering why there was a lack of Rlain in the second half of oathbringer given that the other squires got quite a bit of coverage and according to Peter Ahsltrom this was intentional on Brandon's part. I believe that during his absence, Rlain has made contact with surviving listeners on the shattered plains. He will be key to uniting the humans and parsh people similarly to Dalinar uniting humans together. If the third godspren is in urithuru then there is a real possibility that Rlain becomes a bondsmith. If the third godspren is slumbering as the storm father says he is then maybe Rlain's efforts will awaken it similarly to Syl finding Kaladin. What do you guys think? Any theories on who/where/why is the sibling?
  8. Hey sharders, I have been thinking about this interaction that happened on reddit and wanted to get your thoughts on it The last time we saw rlain IIRC he was going to try to explain to kaladin what being him felt like and then scene ends. What do you think has happened between then and the end of the book? Do you think Rlain could turn? Do you think maybe he has been busying himself with something else, like maybe the survivors of Neurok? Whats your thoughts?
  9. Aren't they so ADORABLE? Don't you just wanna hug one of them?(though you shouldn't hug Moash, he might stab you with his spear)
  10. In WoR Rlain states that whilst posing as a parshman he was in dull form, does anyone know what form he was in when he came to help Kaladin?
  11. My wife and I went to a masquerade ball for New Year's Eve. She surprised me with this Shen mask that she'd painted (she used one of my old masks from Sleep No More for it). I was quite tickled. Hope you guys enjoy! (I'm very new, so I hope that this is an ok place to post this. If not, just let me know). - Andrew Stirling MacDonald
  12. This is a mask that my wife made me for a New Years' Eve masquerade ball we attended. It's definitely Shen and not just some random Parshendi, as you can see his Bridge Four tattoo.
  13. Okay, so I preemptively apologize to everyone if this question exists elsewhere, but I don't know how to find the answers I'm looking for. I actually have two questions: 1) We know that the Parshendi had spies in the Alethi camps (obviously, since I'm talking about Rlain), and we know that they have some weird mental connections. However, we never experience an Eshonai interlude (at least that I can remember) where she mentally communicates with another of her species. Yes, in conversation the Parshendi often "hum" a tone which can be felt by their conversation partners, but so far we have not experienced any other form of telepathy, which I assume is how spies in the warcamps communicate since they and the rest of the parshmen are so closely watched and counted by their Alethi owners. It doesn't make sense that parshmen are just walking back and forth across the barren Shattered Plains--surely they would be seen by the numerous Alethi scouts. Therefore, my first question is how do the spies communicate with the Parshendi at Narak? We know Rlain has been in the warcamps for years -- that is a long time for a spy to sit around being useless, since during wartime information would be needed as fast as it could be brought. So, Rlain is worthless....unless there is some sort bond that Parshendi possess through their Cognitive connections that allow their spies to transmit information nigh-instantly. Remember, Eshonai knew that the Alethi would be marching towards Narak within a short amount of time after Dalinar made the decision to do so. I'm curious what the forums have uncovered via WOB's or from their own speculations. It seems apparent to me that all of this could be explained by the spies running back and forth between the camps and Narak, but once again I feel like that it too much traffic to not be noticed by sharp-eyed scouts looking for movement. 2) My second Rlain question revolves around the in-book timeframe. We know that Shen told Kaladin he needed to leave Bridge 4 before Kaladin fell into the chasm, and even before Adolin's 4-person duel and Kaladin's days (weeks?) of imprisonment. We also know that the Parshendi are able to cross the Shattered Plains at a much faster rate than the Alethi due to their ability to jump. How quickly can they move across the Plains? Given that they reach the chasmfiend chrysalises at the same time as or often before the Alethi, even Sadeas's troops, and it's unlikely that they have roaming armies, they must then leave from Narak itself. This means that they can move across the vast majority of the Shattered Plains--almost to the warcamps themselves--in hours, when it takes Alethi armies days to reach Narak. Admittedly, a dullform Parshendi probably can't move as quickly, but they have to cross the plains somehow. So, at the very least we know that Rlain transformed into warform BEFORE approaching Narak during one of the highstorms. However, he only approached Narak AFTER the final two highstorms before the Weeping! He mentions to Dalinar that the transformation of his people was the reason he stayed away from Narak when he first approached it. THIS CREATES A WEIRD TIME GAP BETWEEN HIS ESCAPE ONTO THE PLAINS AND HIS ALMOST RETURN TO NARAK! Full weeks pass between his departure and his rediscovery by the Alethi army. He already admitted he never returned to Narak, so what in the world was he doing? How was he surviving alone for weeks out on the barren Shattered Plains? What could have happened here? Please, enlighten me, as I am very confused by this seeming time-progression dichotomy.
  14. We all know about five radiants. Dalinar, Kaladin, Shallan, Renarin and Jasnah. Well actually six if counting Szeth. But who are the other four? (presuming there is one per order to be revealed) Obviously Lift is one. There are many speculations about Adolin becoming one but I´m not quite sure about that. My guesses for three more is definitely Rysn, maybe two of the following: Wikim, Sebarial, Elhokar, Tarah (if she is alive) Would be cool if Rlain would become one or Eshonai (who probably is alive since the fourth book is supposed to tell about her life) What do you think?
