  1. Whenever I read a book or watch a movie or show that uses "luck" as an in-world mechanic, it gets under my skin, as if feels like a lazy way for the writers to do whatever unlikely thing they want and be able to get away with it, and for characters to basically just deos ex machina their way to victory. I really hope that Fortune doesn't turn out this way, and that there is a more reliable way for the Feruchemical power of chromium to work. It would also be nice if there was a distinct benefit to tapping Fortune at different rates so that it isn't overpowered or anything like that. Does anyone else have this concern about Fortune?

    Chromium luck

I know this has been posted before but I didn't get a clear answer on how it worked in the thread that I read. Chromium feruchemy is luck feruchemy. You store luck when you fill and gain luck when tapping Question: How in the world does it work! Is it cosmic luck that effects other people? For example you want to dodge a punch and the person accidentally steps on a stone and trips when trying to? Or is it more personal luck, like you have an instinctive gut feeling as for where to move to get out of the punch's way. Personally I'm leaning towards the second given that hoid uses it to instinctively know where to go (but not why he's there), but id like to know what everyone else thinks!
  3. My Theory: Prophecies in the Mistborn world could be made by a feruchemist storing up physical speed, mental clarity, and luck for a prolonged period of time (maybe their whole life), and then, they would burn them in conjunction, to "guess" at what is coming, or to "guess" at what information their people will need about the days to come? (Mental clarity would be so they could fully understand what their luck was telling them, and physical speed would allow them to write it all down, quickly, allowing them to compound their luck and mental clarity, further.) This would also explain the vagueness of prophecy: the prophet doesn't actually see anything they are just making an incredibly "lucky" guess about what is to come. This is my theory on prophecy in that world. What do you gals and guys think?
  4. Luck is usually seen as a Spectrum, ranging from Good luck, to Bad luck. With Good luck, you draw a Royal Flush, With bad luck, You Trip down an elevator Shaft. Either way though, Bad luck is not the Absence of Luck, it's just on the opposite side of the Spectrum from Good Luck. So How does Storing Luck Work? We've never seen it used (Outside of MAG), But I don't think it's used in the Way people think it is. as in, storing give you bad luck, tapping gives you good luck. Realistically, (Yes, I'm using the Word Realistically while discussing Magic) Storing Luck should put in the Middle of the Spectrum. Pure chance, and Luck no longer affects you. When you're tapping Luck, you get both Extremes, You always either get Royal flush, or Uno cards. Then there are people who are 'Born' Lucky Or unlucky. If these people store Luck, Do they store Bad luck or Good luck? or just Luck in general? Would they multiply their base luck, or The Absolute Value of their Base luck? Personally, I think they Store their Base luck, so a normally unlucky person would be better off by Constantly Storing than by Tapping.
  5. We have been told that Scadrial technology will one day include the ability to travel faster than light. I didn’t want to wait for technology, so I theorized a way to do it now. Ingredients: 1 Hemalurgist 2 Chromium spikes 2 Bendalloy Spikes 1 Duralumin Spike 1 Pilot trained in Space-Time Events 1 Spinner Ferring (Chromium) 1 Leecher Misting (Chromium) 1 Subsumer Ferring (Bendalloy) 1 Slider Misting (Bendalloy) 1 Duralumin Misting 1 Metric Ton of Chromium 1 Metric Ton of Bendalloy 1 Bead of Duralumin Directions: Tie the Pilot to a table. Use the Hemalurgist to transfer the powers from each of the mistings and ferrings to the Pilot. This can be messy so use proper precautions. Have the Pilot’s stomach expanded over several years with an inflatable bladder. During this time, have him store Luck and Space-Time Contraction in two metalminds. Compound his Luck and Space-Time Contraction by burning the metalminds and storing the result in another metalmind. (Repeat as needed) Fill his now enormous stomach from your stock of Bendalloy metalminds, and put the Chromium metalmind within arms reach. Add one bead of Duralumin. Have the Pilot focus on your intended destination. Then, while tapping all the Luck he can manage, burn the Bendalloy in one Duralumin enhanced burst. This should generate enough Luck and Space-Time Contraction that you can travel through space-time to the correct Event without appearing in the path of a stray asteroid or accidentally porting into a nearby sun. (Note: due to the nature of Luck, you can sometimes end up in completely unintended Events, but we consider this a feature of the model rather than a draw-back) The theory: Perhaps Bendalloy contracts space-time, but it is just very hard to control so it sort of forms a bubble around you that doesn't have much form. If you could tweak your luck, the random bubble could be given direction and purpose allowing you to control the warp in space-time.
