I have recently re-read Elantris, and looking back to Galladon's Way of Kings appearance, a few questions arose for me. I don't know if they've been answered yet, and I'd like to hear any theories that exist. Galladon uses terms like "friend" and "understand?" in the local language rather than terms like "sule" and "kolo". I cannot imagine Galladon saying understand rather than kolo, so I am leaning 100% towards some magical translator that worldhoppers have. Do all worldhoppers have something like this, or do some just have to learn the language? And his appearance doesn't fit as well either. And how did an Elantrian get off of Sel? Actually, that might be the reason his appearance is different, as he is no longer on Sel. Hmm. And do we have a translation of "Alavanta kamaloo kayana?"

So I just started my first re-read of Elantris, and only got through the first chapter when I had an idea. We know Galladon joined the 17th shard and that he's a worldhopper, but has anyone considered the possibility that Galladon joined the shard before the events of Elantris? Admittedly I don't have much reasoning behind this half-baked theory, it just caught me as suspicious the way that Galladon conveniently was the first (mom-ravenous) person that Raoden encountered. And then even more so when it's saying how Raoden didn't know why but he liked and trusted Galladon. Perhaps Galladon was working for the shard and when he got taken by the Shaod they wanted him to figure out how to restore Elantris for some reason. This could explain why 1. He didn't want to work with Raoden at first since he didn't know who he was or what he was trying to do and 2. Why his home is in a little library thing with a bunch of books. Let me know what you think

I have been reading through the cosmere books and in each one there is at least one world hopper, SPOILER AHEAD, HIGHLIGHT TO READ [There are around five in words of Radiance] Through research and help from friends I have learned that almost all world hoppers are from other cosmere books. There is at least one person from each world that can world hop so that leads me to believe that it is possible with each magic system. I think it has something to do with traveling through Shadesmar. What are your thoughts on the subject?
