  1. I don't know if it has already been discussed here but, by rereading Mistborn and Stormlight simultaneously, I started to think of a hypothetical structure of Mistborn Era I with flashbacks. In Stormlight, each book has a POV character for the flashbacks (Kaladin, Shallan, Dalinar, Venli / Eshonai, Szeth in the fifth book), so if Mistborn had had them I think they could be like this: 1. The Final Empire: Definitely Kelsier. Vin is undoubtedly the protagonist, but Kell's presence is the other big part of the book. The first flashback could be the murder of his mother, while the next ones could be her relationship with Mare; how he became Luthadel's biggest thief, then the botched robbery at Kredik Shaw; the Pits of Hathsin, the death of Mare and Kelsier breaking as Mistborn; and as a final flashback, the story we know as The Eleventh Metal. 2. The Well of Ascension: Here these could be from Sazed (if they were in the third book, it would be indirectly spoiler, I think). He has a very interesting past, with which we could see Terris, with the Synod and the social structure of him; We could see Tindwyl as a young, and why Terris society considered Sazed a rebel, and later the time when he met Mare and Kelsier, and he started working in the underworld of Luthadel. 3. The Hero of Ages: Here these would definitely be Vin's. We could see how her mother murdered her sister; his years with Reen from city to city, and how abusive he was; We could also see how Reen left her, and I really don't know what else it could be, because we don't know much more about Vin's past, and also she was very young in the first book. I haven't thought about what it would be like if Mistborn had interludes because there really isn't much talk about the Final Empire other than Luthadel and the other cities we saw in era I. But hey, tell me what you think about this topic!
  2. Amazing what you notice when you reread something. This scene takes place during one of Dalinar's flashbacks. Oathbringer p396. At this point it Gavinar has started talking about the codes. So I think Stormfather has started sending him the visions. But Dalinar is still very much attracted to combat. So my question is this: Has Dalinar attracted a Dustbringer's ash spren?
  3. It’s kind of obvious from my handle who I’m most craving a POV flashback from! I want to know more about truthless; When someone is declared truthless do they all get a Honorblade. What do the Shamans from shinovar have to do with the honorblades? I have a suspicion that Nale has influenced their ideology . Mostly because they were convinced the Radiants would not returned which is something that Nale insisted on. Szeth wants to cleanse them, he is very angry with them. Do they deserve this? Or is Szeth just insane. if we learn this then we can guess if Dalinar will ever approve of Szeth 4th ideal quest. So many questions. Who trained Szeth? Do all members of his order train with all 10 honorblades like Szeth claims he has.? Is Szeth the best or are his peers of equal skill, or worse better than him....scary? So who do you most want to see a POV flashback from? I suspect a lot of Jasnah, a few Teravangion, but somebody may surprise and say somebody crazy like Navani! Tell us why u want to see it and what u hope is answered!
  4. So we know we're getting flashback books in the back five from characters that are currently active. Now those flashbacks don't have to be concurrent with the current narrative, but say they are. What crazy stuff is happening right now that we won't find out about for another ten or fifteen years? My money's on May Aladar having a torrid affair with Renarin and/or Jasnah that ends with her being killed to stop her from activating a doomsday fabrial at the moment of Shallan and Adolin's wedding.
  5. I believe Brandon has said that their will be a flashback from each order of nights radiant so from this we can extrapolate. 1st set Kaladin - Windrunner 1 Shalan - Lightweaber 2 Szeth - Skybreaker 3 Eshoni - Willshapers 4 (unconfirmed but speculated willshaper) Dalanar - Bondsmith 5 2nd set (not in this order) Taln - Stonewards 6 Lift - Edgedancers 7 Jasnah - Elsecallers 8 Renarin - Truthwatchers 9 Chanarach - Dustbringers 10 (unconfirmed but known to be a 2nd herald) Although it is unconfirmed it has been speculated and i agree that Eshoni will be a willshaper leaving only the order of Dustbringers left for the 2nd herald making her Chanarach. This seems even more likely when you consider that we now have 5 male characters and 5 female characters just like the original heralds and how well Willshaper fits Eshoni who was called the Explorer on the back of the book. Could someone link me to the quote where Brandon said there would be a book for each order I couldn't find it.
  6. So, the first book was Kaladin's, Words of Radiance is Shallan's, book 3 is Szeth's and book 5 is Dalinar's. So who has book 4's flashbacks? Who would you like them to be? I think Eshonai would be a good choice for this because of her travels. I also would love for Navani to have a book. And I can just about guarantee it won't be Hoid. Sanderson is either holding that back for one of the final books, or holding that completely for Hoid's series. In that case we won't be seeing that for quite a while. Who do you think would be best to have the flashbacks for in book four?
  7. Hi all! I am sure I'm not the first to think of it, but I have an idea that we'll probably have characters of 10 different Knights Radiant Orders for the next books' flashbacks. So who would you consider the most possible candidates, if that's the case? So far we have 2 books published and know about next three. That'll be: Kaladin: Windrunners Shallan: Lightweavers Szeth: Skybreakers Eshonai : ? Dalinar: Bondsmiths Then, if it's true that Renarin have a book, there will be: Renarin: Truthwatchers Also I think it's very possible for Lift to have her own book, which will cover Edgedancers too. So the ones left are Stonewards, Willshapers, Dustbringers and Elsecallers. For Elsecallers I REALLY hope for Jasnah, I'd like to know her backstory, and for Stonewards I'd say Taln. So what do you guys think about that? And does anyone know what order Eshonai could be?
  8. Hello, guys! I just made my account today, been meaning to do it for months. Anyway, I read the article that TOR put up where Branmdon Sanderson annouced the Words of Radiance title (who here didn't read it lol) and I learned a lot of other cool stuff, like Szeth having his own book and so on. So the first book belonged to Kaladin, the second will be Shallan's, the third will be Szeth and the fifth will be Dalinar's. So who do you guys want the fourth to belong to? I personally would love to see a book for Navani. I love her, she's awesome and I have a soft spot for tech inventors. But i believe it could also belong to Adolin. Ibelieve these two are the most likely (I would like it to be Navani's). But i think a book for Tarvangian would be pretty cool too. And he's old, so theose flashbacks could go pretty deep and far back. Sio, again, my question is: who would you like the fourth book to brlong to?
