  1. Felt is a Ghostblood sleeper agent. Way back in TFE: “Felt, one of the House Venture chief spies, climbed into the carriage, nodding his hawkish, mustached face respectfully to Elend, then Jastes.” Felt is a spy, originally from TFE Scadrial. He was present when Kell died, during the revolt and Elend’s speech, and the Catacande. And now he’s here, on Roshar. We know the GBs have a spy near the Kholins. We know that having an agent near prospective members is common practice. Felt has been by Dalinar’s side for years. He’s a loyal and trusted member of Dalinar’s forces. And now he’s on the Shadesmar trip, in the perfect position to ‘innocently’ question Kalak and discover the whereabouts of Ba-Ado-Mishram. We were all but told he was a worldhopper in Dalinar’s memories. And we know he’s tried to find the Nightwatcher before going on Dalinar’s mission to find her. His presence here, now, is remarkably suspicious - and no one suspects him at all. So: I posit that Felt is a Ghostblood agent in deep cover. Thoughts?
  2. So, the Felt who's a scout for Dalinar and already in his service when he visited the Nightwatcher, by then married with an Alethi (?) wife and in service long enough to be so close to him (unless he's got a way to secretly boost Connection?), is confirmed to be the same Felt who worked for House Venture in Mistborn. We have various WoBs that he's kind of a lone wolf among worldhoppers, who has associated with a number of groups without staying on as a committed member; that even during the Final Empire he was somewhat cosmere aware; that he was born shortly before the events of MB1 (he's not a time-dilated worldhoppers who returned to Scadrial and got caught stranded when Kelsier shattered the Pits); and that he survived the Catacendre in the cavern under Kredik Shaw, in something of a leadership role. Per the Coppermind's Cosmere timeline, the events of TWoK on Roshar are only a little earlier than the events on Scadrial during Alloy of Law, Mistborn Era 2, by about a dozen years. Which in Scadrial time, is about 330 years after the Catacendre. So how long did Felt stay on Scadrial before hopping off? And doing what? He must have stayed long enough to be influential enough to get a town named for him in the Roughs: the opening scene of AoL, when Wax and Lessie have that crucial encounter with Bloody Tan, is in a "dead town" that had been prosperous until twenty years back when a clan of koloss moved nearby. A town called Feltrel!
  3. I was reading through WoBs and this one stood out to me: Generally, our biggest clue for spotting worldhoppers on Roshar is when characters have trouble identifying their ethnicity. It's notable that this never happened with Felt. Scadrians would likely look Shin to Alethi, but it's never brought up that Felt is a foreigner in an Alethi army. Like Brandon said, he should stand out more. If Felt is a Kandra, it wouldn't be hard to change their body to look more Alethi. Why not pick a more Vorin name? I'm not sure, maybe that was Brandon just making sure we'd notice him. If Felt was just a normal person it'd be in his interest to pick a Vorin sounding name anyway. Similarly, there's this interesting WoB: This seems to imply that we'd have above average difficulty spotting Felt. This would make sense if he was a Kandra, since he could look entirely different from appearance to appearance. Regardless, there is definitely something going on with Felt that Brandon hasn't disclosed yet. The bit about Felt's dialogue is interesting, I just reread Mistborn 1 and 2 and don't remember anything weird there, but I also wasn't looking for it. I wish I had a digital copy so finding that stuff was easier. I suspect there might be a clue implying that Felt had been replaced. Since Brandon has explicitly said that the Felt we see in Stormlight Archive is the same Felt as in Mistborn, meaning that a Kandra took his place some time during the events of the original trilogy. I'm also half convinced that Felt is that pesky Kandra worldhopper that we haven't been able to pin down. Consider this WoB: So we've seen the Kandra worldhopper, well, we've seen Felt. He also didn't reveal the planet, which is interesting. There's also: It doesn't sound like much, but it basically confirms that the Kandra worldhopper has at least taken the form of a male. Whether she has appeared on screen in that form is another matter, but it hasn't been strictly disproved. Note that the above quote comes from 2014, so this was before Felt got a bunch of lines in the Dalinar flashbacks in OB. Honestly even I can't remember if Felt said anything in Words of Radiance. As a final tidbit there's also this WoB: This response would make sense considering Felt doesn't really show up in Way of Kings but is presumably still kicking around in Dalinar's army.
  4. So...I'm just wondering...has anyone been able to get any insight or information from Brandon or Peter about the character Felt? Or...does anyone have any interesting theories they would care to discuss regarding his identity? Here's all that I've got so far... What we know for sure: Felt is a spy from Urteau, Scadrial. He is described as lithe and short with a hawkish face and a drooping moustache.[1] He is one of the main spies for House Venture. He spies on Kelsier's crew's hideout and reports to Elend that they are a well-funded, competent skaa thieving crew.[1] Elend employs Felt again during the Siege of Luthadel to figure out how the city was being infiltrated. He interrogates the refugees entering the city and the people running the Luthadel passwalls before searching the river and determining that someone had pried the grates free to create their own entrance into the city. Before that, Felt had not had much work as a spy, and is enjoying the tasks he has been given during the siege.[2] During the Siege of Fadrex City, Felt is assigned to watch the Lord Ruler's storage cavern in the east. [3] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Felt is an Alethi scout on the Shattered Plains who reports to Lyn during the Battle of Narak. Felt and Shim are sent scouting the surrounding plains prior to the Battle of Narak.[1] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So...Coppermind lists these as being two separate characters...but I find it hard to believe that Brandon would have given two different characters the same name accidentally. While it is not specifically named as being Felt, one of the two scouts who return to the command tent gives Shallan the hint that she needs in order to find the oathgate. Supposing that Felt is in fact a worldhopper...I don't believe that he is tied in with 17th shard...for one...he's not with the other three we see at the purelake. #2, he is using the same name that he used on scadrail instead of trying to hide his identity. What do you all think?
  5. All right, theory time. Felt was the House Venture head spy in the Mistborn novels. He led the spying team that Elend sent to follow Vin in Final Empire. He discovered how enemy spies were sneaking into Luthadel in WoA. Finally, he was briefly thought of by Elend in HoA, and was apparently securing one of the storage caches. I thought he was a bit of a weird character, but I dismissed him. Then, in Words of Radiance, I saw this: So, did Mr. Sanderson make a mistake and use the same name twice by accident? I don't think so. I think that someone would have caught it and corrected it if it were a mistake. I believe that Felt is a worldhopper. Thoughts?
