  1. Hey everyone! I am back with another song, this time based on Vin's arc. Please let me know your reactions, feelings, whatever! Enjoy!!
  2. As I was listening to the audiobook of White Sand, I began to hear what eventually became this song. At first, it was just some strings and piano doing "something interesting and desert-ish" (technical terminology). But it hit me early on: How cool would it be to introduce something Cosmere-related into the lyrics or music? The ketek that makes up the lyrics took me a good day to hone, but I thought it would make a good challenge to musically represent (on a much, MUCH smaller scale) what Brandon is doing in his books by connecting his worlds together. It certainly served to shape the song into what it is! I hope you enjoy it!! Make sure to download the mp3 or WAV below!! HUGE thanks to @Infamoti for his amazing work on this song. He seemed... beyond me, somehow. As his backstory unfolded, I realized how little we had in common at that time in my life; I settled into a good place where I really enjoyed watching him grow and change, accepting that I could invest myself in a character's story without having to fully understand his experiences. In the summer of 2019, my wife became pregnant for the first time in our marriage. We had been married 7 years, 6 of which had been spent trying to grow our family. Weeks later, that child died in the womb from unknown causes. I suddenly understood a little of Kaladin's pain; I was unable to protect my unborn child. We struggled for a year, wrestling with ourselves and God, days blurring into weeks, then months, as we sank into depression. We were surrounded by people who loved, held and heard us, but it took a long time to even begin to move forward from the silence, the grief and the loss. As we slowly crept out into the light again, we chose to trust that continuing the journey as unashamedly broken people was better than pulling the covers over our heads for the rest of our lives. We went to counseling, examined our faith on deeper levels, and spent lots of time with friends and family, sharing what had happened to us and soaking up the encouragement and love of others. In the fall of 2020, months before the birth of our daughter Jane, the chorus of Windrunner began to take shape. I wrote this song to help me move forward in my journey; I hope it helps others as much as it helped me.
  4. I was deeply moved by Dalinar's pivotal moment in Oathbringer; this song is the result. Enjoy!
  5. A few days ago, I was rereading the Stormlight Archive, and I was suddenly hit with emotion when I read one of Kaladin’s POVs. I pondered for a bit, then I ran over to the piano and recorded my emotions. I thought I’d post it here to see if anyone was interested in a little Sanderson inspired improvisation. I’m sorry for the background noise and the poor audio quality! It’s the best I could do. I apologize for the length; I really didn't mean to make it this long. If you guys enjoy it, I might post a follow up with some more Sanderson inspired improv. Improvisations - MusicalReader.mp4
  6. Hi guys! Just wanted to put a shameless shout-out for my newest original song inspired by the Cosmere! After a long time of working out melody and lyrics (lyrics took an especially long time) I've hammered out a Elantris song! Elantris tends to get a little overshadowed by Brandon's later books, so we don't seen as much fan art, stories or music (is there any??) inspired by this book. But, I love it!!! And if there's anywhere it will get a good reception I figured it would be here...in this particular forum, because you're all AWESOME! Ever since reading "Elantris" last year I've wanted to create some kind of music to emulate the love story between Raoden and Sarene. There are so many ways to take an interpretation! I decided to create a song that reflects the quieter, inner longing and loneliness that Sarene experiences in the beginning of the story. I was careful not to explicitly state that she was "in love", and I also tried to avoid sounding too forlorn and weak - since Sarene is neither of these things. Instead, I looked to those moments in the book where Sarene finds herself thinking of what could have been and I did my best to embody that in song. Beautiful artwork by @esamitch as always!! :-D I hope you enjoy it!!
  7. Hi everyone! Just wanted to share my most recent fan-composition: "Eshonai's Lament." I have been wanting to write this for a long time and I'm so glad to have it on my channel! She's such a great character, I hope I did her justice. DISCLAIMER - In case you miss the video description, I would like to make a note that the lyrics are NOT real words. I just made up what sounded cool and fit the style I was going for. SO, if it sounds similar to any REAL language, that is completely happenstance; I mean no offense. Please check it out and let me know what you think - either here (upvote or comment) or on YouTube. Thanks! Hope you enjoy it!!!
  8. Hey guys, It's me again! Just finished and published my version of Silence's Lullaby from Arcanum Unbounded. I DID add some additional lyrics - for no other reason than that without them the song would have been 30 seconds long or highly repetitive. It's my first time writing/publishing lyrics to anything...I tried very hard to match the style and the topic to Brandon's original words. Hopefully it doesn't take away from the overall result. Anyway - hope you enjoy my take on the song! I'm sure other fans will be doing their's as well! :-)
  9. Hi everyone! It's been a while since I've been on this site but it's good to be back! I'm excited to share with you another fan-composition I've been working on: "Song of Secrets". After having so much fun doing Shallan's "Veden Lullaby" I wanted to write more songs for the Cosmere. I searched the Coppermind Wiki to see if there were any other songs in Brandon's books (as yet, I haven't read them all) I came up with Song of Secrets. It seemed like a good place to start! This was a super challenging piece to write (I don't know why) and it took me a long time. My intention was to create a piece that would evoke the flavor of the Parshendi culture as I interpret it. I tried to give it an exotic feel (yay, harmonic minor!!) This was a big step for me and it took a lot to write, record and mix this (probably because I have no idea what I'm doing hahaha). Anywho, I hope you enjoy it! ALSO THANK YOU TO @esamitch FOR MAKING THE VIDEO, CREATING ANIMATION AND OF COURSE HER FABULOUS ART WORK AS WELL!
  10. Here is my first musical composition for the Stormlight Archive. This is what I imagined for Tien's theme, which would (theoretically) be used for Kaladin's memories throughout The Way of Kings. The first melody you hear (A section) is for Tien - it's meant to be song-like and sad. The B section has some major chords and is more or less Kaladin's hero theme. It brings a sense of determination and resolve to the overall "Tien theme" which seems appropriate for Kaladin. My goal was to create a theme for both characters that brings together the emotion of their story. This is all on piano - although feel free to imagine a full orchestra! :-D WhenIf I figure out a program to make that happen, it will definitely be on my list of things to do! (Please excuse the "lameness" of the video. I only have Windows Live Movie Maker and for anyone who is familiar with it: you know my pain. For those of you who don't: it stinks. But, hey, I'm a musician not a film maker :-P) Enjoy!
