  1. Street So maybe I've been very dense fur a long time, but Khriss mentions that the Dor is a combination of Devotion AND Dominion in AU. Is this known fact? I always assumed the Dor was an in world term for Devotion, acc vs Skaze tapped into Dominion. Just considering how the two cultures operated the past. I.e Elantrians are an open accepting society, Jaddeth's followers follow a stricter Feudal hierarchy. So I g guess my question is, how did these Splinters bond into a cohesive whole?
  2. In The Emperor's Soul, Shai mentions that any material can be used to make a soulstamp, but crystal is the best material for making stamps that take. However, few people use it because it is difficult to carve, and Soulstone is almost as good, as well as easy to carve. In Khriss's essay about Sel in Arcanum Unbounded, she says that So my theory is: THINGS THAT ARE PHYSICALLY ORDERLY ARE THE MOST SELF AWARE. Crystals are orderly. That is the definition of a crystal. Shai mentions wood as something that is very difficult to carve. That makes sense, as wood is not orderly. Soulstone is different because it is a part of Devotion and Dominion. It came from those rocks that fell from the sky that the MaiPon used to worship. So the only advantage that crystal could possibly have over it is its order. Ideas?
  3. From Khriss' essay about the Selish System: I concluded from this that there must be at least three empires on Sel, which correspond to the "three great domains". Let me explain why. The Three Great Domains The only nations we know that isn't part of an empire are Arelon and Teod. Even when combined, those two are hardly big enough to be called a "great domain" on par with its neighboring empires. Also, neither the Arelene nor the Teo pretend that Fjorden is a "mere blip on the map, barely worth notice"; Wyrm and his followers are too much of a danger for the Aonic kingdoms to ignore. The third "great domain" therefore must be somewhere else, perhaps in a continent on the other side of Sel, separated from the known continents by "sweeping oceans" on both sides (the same way the Americas are separated from the Old World by the Atlantic and the Pacific). Multiple Empires So far we've seen two Selish empires: Fjordell and Rose. I think that using the word "multiple" to refer to just two things, while valid, is a bit odd, so I think it's more likely that "multiple empires" means at least one more empire on Sel, which is probably located on the third "great domain". Another Short Story? Three great domains, three continents, three empires. I believe Brandon's Elantris sequels will still be set mostly on Opelon/Sycla, but I'm excited for another possible spin-off short story exploring the third empire on the other side of Sel. I wish Brandon would write it after the Elantris sequels, though. What do you guys think?
  4. When I ordered my leatherbound Mistborn (just came today) I asked Brandon whether Aagal Uch and Aagal Nod — the two gas giants in the Scadrian system — ever came into the story. He RAFOed it. How can you RAFO a question like that? It makes no sense. RAFOing can imply that something interesting is going on with what you are asking about. But if something interesting is going on with the planets, that would mean that the planets do come into the story. So why didn't he just say yes? Do they only partially come into the story? Does he not want people to focus on it? Is he unsure of the answer? If the answer had been "no", he would probably have just said no. So I think the RAFO means a yes. But if that's what he meant, then why didn't he say it? I don't get it!
  5. Bavadin is Trell but is no longer Autonomy and is Dalinar's wife who's Nightwatcher.Sorry couldn't help myself :D. Let's go full crazy here. Hold on to your tinfoil hats! Autonomy's Vessel is now female because it changed hands. This is gonna be consistent with the theory that trellium isn't actually Trell's godmetal. We know trellium is from a Shard we know. We know the metal itself has additional effect of hiding (granting independence or autonomy, I'd say). From Khriss essays we know Autonomy is interfering with other worlds and isolating Taldain. We also know Brandon refered to Bavadin as "he" before. See, I think we may have two Shards cooperating here. First Bavadin as Autonomy Invested in Scadrial creating trellium, made a deal with some female so that she will shut off Taldain when he's gone and Descended. He has gone to Sel and picked up Dominion. Maybe before his Descension he set something up in that regard so he can somehow pick up Splintered Shard. Then he went to Scadrial and started messing around with Harmony and he had already avalaible godmetal capable of hiding things from Harmony and additionaly it couldn't be traced back to him as Dominion as it's Autonomy's godmetal. This would explain Set's mathematical nature and order as something of Dominion and the nature of trellium spike.
  6. Not sure this can even be considered a theory anymore as of Edgedancer, but we know that 1. Ishar encouraged the other Heralds to abandon the Oathpact and abandon Taln 2. Ishar gave Nalan false information regarding the Everstorm that led Nalan to continue to slaughter Surgebinders. 3. "One is almost certainly a traitor to the others." ~Book of the 2nd Desk Drawer: Paragraph 27 (the other epigraphs from the "book of the second desk drawer" discuss the Unmade, but this one is supposedly 12 paragraphs away from those epigraphs which could indicate a change of topic)
  7. There are two comments in the Selish Essay that seem to contradict each other: And then, the seemingly contradictory statement: So, how can these two things be true? How can the shards be extremely influential in human culture on Sel, while at the same time have been splintered long before human prehistory? Thoughts?
  8. My kindle AU just got downloaded and I noticed something. All then interesting/shared worlds have moons. Why might this be?
