  1. Happy Monday to you all! There's lots of news (and some older news we haven't covered), so let's get into it. First up, we have two new chapters from Dragonsteel Prime: Bridge Four #2 and Bridge Four #3, ending with Jerick becoming a bridge leader. Speaking of bridge leaders, we have a new annotation for Way of Kings, talking about chapter 1. It's interesting, as it makes sense that chapter would be controversial (the book has a prelude, prologue, and chapter one before we get a viewpoint from a protagonist), but ultimately seeing Kaladin flash back to those events is much more powerful. Next, we got the back cover blurb for Oathbringer in a tweet last week. This is different from the publisher's synopsis. Each of the back covers of Stormlight books are in-world and are written by things we've seen, in fact. So here's the blurb: Yup. Whoa. I love these things, so it's awesome to see this. Discuss this and more in the Oathbringer spoiler board. Next, and onto older news, on September 17th, according to the progress bars Apocalypse Guard Draft 2 is done. Nice! Lastly, we have some very old news from earlier this summer that I'm aghast we have not talked about on the main page. Admittedly, you guys all probably knew this already, and we've suspected for years this was the case. Mistborn: Birthright, the Mistborn video game, long delayed, was canceled July 24th, 2017. A statement from the CEO is: I'd link you to the original post, but they also deleted their Facebook page some time after that. RIP Birthright. I'll say that, though the lack of communication was extremely infuriating and their optimistic time schedules were maddening, I appreciate the candor here. I too would eventually love to play and stream such a game. All right, I think that's everything that we've missed so far. Stay tuned for tomorrow for another batch of Oathbringer chapters.
  2. So, in Brandon's latest blog post here, he outlined his writing schedule following the release of Oathbringer. Between the release of Oathbringer in November 2017 and the release of Stromlight #4 in 2020, there is only going to be one other Cosmere book released, the final in the Mistborn era 2 books. The main series he will be writing will be his new YA series, the Apocalypse Guard. I won't lie, as much as I enjoy Brandon's writing overall, I am really diapointed by the lack of Cosmere content in the next 3 years. I'm sure I'll love the Apocalypse Guard series, just like I did the Rekoners, and I really shouldn't complain considering that his plan is to release at least 2 books a year until the next Stormlight. But I am a selfish human being, and I really just want more Cosmere, haha. How does everyone else feel about this development? And is it even possible to be this prolific? Has brandon finally admitted his robotic origins? Let us discuss in the comments below!
  3. With the release of Calamity a few weeks ago we Sanderson fans bid farewell to what has become a very successful series (which is currently sitting at number 1 on the New York Times Children's Series Bestseller List!). And while I, personally, do love that Brandon jumps from project (though it does lead to troubling arguments with myself about which book I want the most...) I'm not going to lie, it is really nice to have a resolution like this. Of course Brandon being Brandon has decided to expand this world multiverse before moving on to something else in his new series Apocalypse Guard. Here's the blurb from Delacorte's press release: (source) Now for those of you who read our coverage of last year's State of the Sanderson this should come as no surprise, but it's nice to have the official announcement. I, for one, could not be more excited about this. Calamity wrapped up the story of The Reckoners excellently but it also gave hints towards some deeper mysteries that I hope this new series will address. It's just a shame that we'll have to wait so long to read it! Check out our forum thread here to discuss Apocalypse Guard!
