  1. So, I was reading OB, and my most common thought reading it, was I just want Kaladin to be happy... And that got me thinking. If you could, what would you give the characters of Stormlight Archive. A horse for Kaladin, or maybe boots? A new sketch book for Shallan? Also, what would you want to be given to you from the characters?
  2. So, my mom just had her birthday and she got all the things she wanted. I thought, What would Kaladin want? So folks, what do you think the characters of Stormlight Archive would want for their birthdays? Also, what is the weirdest thing you got for your B-Day?
  3. From the album: Natural History of Roshar

The common skyeel of Roshar nests high on cliff faces to shelter their young from high storms. Once their chick matures, they would take the leaf of faith from hundreds of meters above ground to learn how to fly - or fall to their deaths.
  4. I know there was a soundtrack made for WoK/Kaladin, and it was awesome. Can we expect more?
  5. From the album: Fanart

Another version of my picture of Szeth with some fancy stormlight and Nightblood effects.
  6. From the album: Fanart

I had this piece in my mind for far too long and I'm so happy I finally came around drawing it!
  7. For an English class I'm taking, I am doing a paper on the definition of the word "wit", which includes uses for the term. To this end, I want to include a description of the King's Wit in the Way of Kings as one of my sources. However, I do not have my own personal copy of the book. Could someone please post the description of the role (not of Wit, the job description), as well as the page number, chapter, and anything else I might need to appropriately cite the source? I would be very grateful for this assistance.
  8. This is a theory about Jasnah and why she was treated for mental illness. My theory is that when she was young, Ivory took an interest in her because we know that they have been bonded for a long time, and when other people noticed her talking to herself, she was sent to an insane asylum because she was continually talking to something invisible. She remains insecure about that for the rest of her life and occasionally will look back on that in fear because it was the only time that she couldn't trust her mind. That is why it s briefly mentioned in the books that there was a time that she couldn't trust her own mind, it was refering to that experience Edit: I'm not saying that seeing Ivory drove Jasnah crazy. I'm saying that when someone like her father caught her trying to have conversations with spren, they sent her away to a mental institution where she was told repeatedly that she couldn't trust herself, which drove her insane due to the terrible practices that insane asylum's probably did to her, due to the fact that we know that Roshar doesn't have a good understanding of mental illness because no one has diagnosed Kaladin with depression even though he clearly has it.
  9. From the album: Natural History of Roshar

Early ideas of large, land-bound crustacean creatures that would fit perfectly in Rosharan world.
  10. From the album: Stormlight Doodles

I was bored, so I drew this. I know her shard blade is not to scale, but I think it's cool looking.
  11. From the album: Stormlight Doodles

I loved reading this section of the book, so I drew it!
  12. I tried, but I couldn't find an article about this. At the end of OB, Moash goes behind the palace in Kholinar and kills an old drunk that we know to be Jezrien (If it's a different herald, I'm sorry) with a dagger that has a gemstone on the hilt. After stabbing the Herald through the heart, the gemstone begins glowing softly. When I first read this, my initial thoughts went to a WoB what stated that Hemalurgy in some form or another could be performed anywhere in the Cosmere. I believe that is what happened when Moash killed the Herald. Thoughts? Has this been confirmed?
  13. So I told my mom (who is also a Sanderfan) that she should attempt to make chouta. She replied with "first we need to know what ethnicity the Herdazians are based on." I guessed Hispanic from the descriptions, but I was wondering what y'all thought. Add your guesses for any of the kingdoms in Stormlight! A few of mine are: Herdazian: Hispanic or Greek Alethi: Roman Veden or Horneater: Irish
  14. This is my fanfiction I'm writing. It takes place around 13 years in the future. If you want to read it here is the link. (It's not finished. This is only a part of the first draft.) Anyway here's the link. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1XPIiak-o9gJaPPhGaHdTc2AMHSh6_RKE6TEK49weknQ/edit?usp=sharing
  15. This is the line work for a scene I'm going to paint over later. But if you want to color it, please do so and share! I'll put it on the fridge!
  16. Okay so we know that Sja-anat can corrupt spren, with us first assuming she could just corrupt normal spren. Then we find out that she has already corrupted Glys and created a weird mixed investure KR. It's like whoa cool! But this has got me thinking. What else can she corrupt. I seem to remember OB saying something about how Sja-anat could corrupt humans, and we know that she can corrupt powerful spren. (Truthwatcher spren, and Oathgate Spren) But my question is does she corrupt spren, or just investure. Because if so could she make some Corrupted Honorblades? I want theories, but also cool ideas of Sja- corrupted investure. The second part does not have to confined to Roshar
  17. So I was browsing Arcanum when I came upon this little WoB: And immediately something stuck out to me (highlighted in blue) - Brandon says that he made it so that Shadesmar has air so that people wouldn't have to worry about bringing plants to get oxygen, or a Windrunner, or - wait. What? The way he says it, it sounds like (were it the case that Shadesmar had no air) a Windrunner would be helpful - if not absolutely crucial - in getting air into Shadesmar. This leads me to believe that, as they progress in the Oaths, Windrunners gain access to some sort of air/wind manipulation abilities; this seems to be supported by Kaladin's pressure bubble in Oathbringer. I'm curious to see how this could be applied by Kaladin, and other Windrunners, but I'm more curious to see if other orders have similar abilities not exactly related to their surges. Personally, assuming some (if not all) other orders have abilities we haven't seen yet, I like to think that the Skybreakers could summon lightning. It fits with their name (breaking....skies....), and would definitely be storming cool (yes, I will admit, I just want to see Szeth shoot lightning while dual-wielding Nightblood and his sprenblade). What do you think about this? Am I reading too much into this WoB? Do you think the orders could have abilities other than those strictly defined by their surges?
  18. Okay so in all the books, you never see Kaladin feel the effects of the thrill. All the other character viewpoints you see it (dalinar especially) but why doesn't Kaladin As a youth he probably didn't feel it because Moelach was in the shattered plains rather than bothering about Amarams domain. But what about when he gets to the shattered plains? There is nothing that says that a radiant can't feel the thrill. In fact we know by shallan's experience with the heart of revel that the KR can be affected by the unmade. Your Thoughts?
  19. Okay so when I was re-reading Oathbringer again I paused when I read Chapter 88 voices. In this chapter it's a flashback where dalinar is talking about how he needs to drink (the first chapter we see dalinar turns to spirits) and he eventually goes out to find a beggar named Ahu. Ahu is drinking and talking about the voices and how they are made. He seems to know a lot about how the spiritual aspect of the screams that dalinar (and szeth) hear. Then he mentions 4 of the unmade and says "Moelach is close. I can hear his wheezing, his scratching, his scraping at time like a rat breaking thourgh walls." Why the heck does this random beggar know so much. And why can he track and even hear where Moelach (the thrill) is? Is it just another mad man whose mind is more open to the cognitive realm as we see in MSH. Or is Ahu some kind of herald that was pausing in Kholinar. And if so which one. I'd love to hear you thoughts!
  20. We know it's hard for uses of investiture to have any effect on heavily invested objects or people - knowing this, I'm wondering if a mistborn burning atium would be able to predict the movements of a completely stormlight-full surgebinder. I don't really have any more to this, just a thought that came up.
  21. Branderbot 2000's newest novel features a love triangle for our sassy redheaded heroine. In this episode, she goes stepping out with a handsome prince in armour (refer to previous episode, Six Feet of Steel) who is not very smart but is pretty good at beating people up. Does she choose the mysterious shirtless bridgeman Kaladin? Or the well-heeled prince with sacks of spheres? It turns out the prince has mysteries of his own... ...like how he poops in Shardplate.
  22. K so hopefully nobody else has talked about this, (I'm not about to go looking through all of the posts about Elhokar in OB), because I don't want to look stupid. Anyways, I read the Stormlight Archive for the first time this last summer, and after reading all of Brandon's cosmere works, (+Skyward, Rithmatist, etc.), I decided to re-read Stormlight to better participate on here. While reading today, I found this, said by Elhokar... That description sounds an awful lot like pattern when Shallan first sees him in her drawings...If I'm right it means even before Elhokar starting to speak the oaths in OB, (even before any stuff with Wit or whatever that was I don't remember), we had foreshadowing/evidence in PART 4 of WoK, that Elhokar could become a Lightweaver. I really hope no one else has found this and I'm not waaaaaaaay late.
