  1. Look, when I say this is the best day of Splintercast yet--or, quite possibly ever--I'm not kidding. This is Alyx's very favorite. Just listen to Chapter 41. There are gasps and also, perhaps desks broke. It's hard to tell. And that's not all, because then you get to her totally fangirl over Mraize. It's a very deep kind of love there. Also, kittyspren.
  2. More Splintercast! More Adolin and Shallan! An awesome flashback! And then, Sebarial. It's a Shallantastic section of Splintercast! Oh, and Feather does some talking too. Discuss this podcast here or in our Splintercast Reads Words of Radiance topic!
  3. It's Splintercast, and we're going into Part Three of Words of Radiance! There are Splinters, and they are cast. Like the splinters that cast themselves away from your fleshy fingers. Like the splinters that cast magic spells. Presumably Awakening, I guess? Like... Kaladin cast off his chains? I don't know, but I should probably be saving these terrible puns for other episodes where I'm late on uploading, and I haven't had time to listen to them. Look, just because I haven't listened to them doesn't mean I don't know what happened. I'm sure Alyx cried and gasped and missed important plot details or something, and it will be hilarious. See? Nailed it. (Sorry about the delay!) Discuss this podcast here or in our Splintercast Reads Words of Radiance topic!
  4. Phew, after that amazing ending of Part Two, we need a little breather I think, so it's just interludes today, where Feather misses some very critical information! What a slacker... Unrelated, but fun fact: when Brandon refers to Words of Radiance is a trilogy, he's referring to the fact that in other markets where the book will be split, there are natural break points. The end of part two is one of them. Neat! Discuss this podcast here or in our Splintercast Reads Words of Radiance topic!
  5. This time on Splintercast Reads Words of Radiance, we have a special treat: it's the end of Part Two. So you know what happens: on the first chapter, Feather forgot her new mic. Way to be. Don't worry, she fixes it. Then the amazingness of this part of the book. Look, you don't want to listen to me blab, you want to hear the sobs. And oh there are sobs. Let's get to it. "I'm having trouble... things." - FeatherWriter 2014 (Sydney Scroungers: 4) Discuss this podcast here or in our Splintercast Reads Words of Radiance topic!
  6. Welcome back to the Splintercast. To no one's surprise, Shallan continues to be awesome. She has a wicked tongue, you know? Yep. Alyx talks about Shallan and Kabsal a bit--and tongues--and she gets "interrupted." Sure. For four hours? Sure Feather. Then there's more shipping. You aren't surprised. And then Alyx's favorite ship: Kaladin/Petty Rivalries That Are Probably Dumb. Like Kaladin vs. Horses. Bridgeboy vs. Princeling. Snark is wonderful. Then she gets some key plot points wrong! And then some plot points completely right. Adorable. This. Is. Splintercast. "I like derogatory words" - Alyx 2014 (Scroungers reference count: 5) Discuss this podcast here or in our Splintercast Reads Words of Radiance topic!
  7. Welcome back to the Splintercast Reads Words of Radiance! In this episode, we see chapters 16-18. More freakouts occur of Renarin. This should be entirely expected. Then other things happen. Because, you know, there's more audio and stuff. (Best writeup ever)
  8. Welcome back to Splintercast Reads Words of Radiance. My apologies; I've been away and Alyx has been busy. But we're back with daily episodes, and this time, with five chapters (though some are quite short)! Shallan does a thing. Gets Bluth feels. Alyx can't pronounce things. Everything you want out of Splintercast. And then she sees the picture. She babbles... continuously. Look you didn't expect this, but then you totally do in retrospect. Thanks Dan Dos Santos for these delightful freakouts. Then Alyx switches to a new mic! Yay! (Oh you're so silly Feather.) This is Splintercast Reads Words of Radiance. No Dead Kholins 2014™
  9. Welcome to the brand-new Shardkeepers Podcast! No, it's not where keep all the shards of glass to ourselves (still, you can't have them, they are our weapons), it's where we, the Sharders, are also the Keepers of knowledge. Like that Terris order, we're here to edjumacate you about... stuff. Or something. I'm not doing a very good job of selling this one. Let's try again. Welcome to Shardkeepers, our theory podcast. If you want theories on the cosmere, you've come to the right place. If you don't want theories, well, you can go, but watch for the shattered glass on the way out. We have Kerry (KChan), David (Windrunner), me, and some other guy! Oh wait, that's Josh (Rubix), not just a talking head. Oops! My mistake! (Sorry Josh, we love you!) Together, we form a theorytastic Voltron which is missing a head, because, hey, you need five for a Voltron. So we're headless, but you know, we have to keep up the Shardcast tradition. On our inaugural episode, we're going to do things a bit differently. We want each episode to tackle a specific theory, topic, or problem, and we will set out to (possibly) solve that problem. But, there's been just so many signings with the A Memory of Light tour, our forum Q&A, and the recent AMA on Reddit that we have to talk about it. But we aren't going to simply read you quotes, there is a ton of theorizing going on. We discuss open some doors to the Dor (that pun will never get old) and finally have a coherent theory about what it is, how the Letter's author is pretty much confirmed, and some excellent Odium stuff. Listen on how Josh will surely get flamed, as well as Shashara's "sister". And how I was totally caw-blocked at the end of the podcast. Obviously, there will be cosmere spoilers for pretty much... everything. Mistborn, Way of Kings, Elantris. This is the ultra-theoretical podcast, so you should expect that. Click here for a Google doc of our quotes we were using for the podcast. By the way, the main Shardcast will still happen, don't worry!
  10. Shardcast Season 1, Episode 4

Ho ho ho, Merry Christmas and happy Random Winter Solstice Holiday. Are you getting stabbed in the face? Perhaps the gut? No? You humans have such strange winter rituals. I, Inquisitor Santa, give Scadrial with far superior offerings. At least, to the most brutal of taskmasters, who constantly whip the skaa (what you would call "the Nice list".) But I have a busy night of people to kill and Hemalurgic spikes to grant people, so you Earthlings will simply have to live (or die, heh) with the ramblings of three other Earthlings. They discuss some "Pokemon" thing, and then there is a pale imitation of God's (Ruin's) voice, which is then referred to as "Batman". Bats are not menacing, lowly humans. Get it right. Oh, and this place called Elantris is discussed. So, what are you waiting for? Go click below and bind this episode of Shardcast permanently into your Spiritweb. Errata: Teoin is the capital of Teod, not Teoras. Also, let it be known that Eric totally said "Suck it" near the end, and not anything that rhymed with that.
  11. Shardcast Season 1, Episode 3

It's one Rosharan week later (actually two, whatever), so it's time for some Shardcast, and this time it's Episode Three: Revenge of the Plot. Yes, in chapters 7-9, some inklings of the plot actually happened, so of course Eric got bored and read the rest of the book. And, as such, has no idea what happened in the actual triad we were discussing. We solve many mysteries this week, like who is Mi'chelle's sister? Will Eric get shanked? Why is Josh invading someone's box? What did Eric do to need to be censored? (Okay, we don't really solve that last one. That's why it's censored.) Because really, what more could ask from Shardcast than such edgy humor like that? Oh, right, racism. Well, we have that too. Click on, open the door to the Dor and find out the answers you seek. Missed Facts: Hrathen originally takes credit for the fall of Duladen. Brandon took this out because he felt it was too heavy handed for an "innocent" meeting. Because of the triad system, Brandon felt the need to have something important to the characters happen in each chapter. Errata: So I clearly misremembered Chapter 8, and thought the lunch Josh was referring to was in this chapter. It is not. So, Josh is totally right in that this lunch scene was pretty unnecessary.
  12. Shardcast Season 1, Episode 1

We're back, and better (allegedly) than ever! We're switching it up, and now the main Shardcast will be our podcast where we go reading through each book. No, we aren't narrating every book--we know, you're sad--but Mi'ch, Josh, and Eric are here to give you commentary on the books, annotations, and everything! And try to make it entertaining, somehow. This episode's entertainment comes from meat. Vegetarians need not apply. You'll see. Starting off Season 1 of Shardcast, we will be reading through Elantris, and shockingly, we start at the beginning of that book, and go through Chapter 3. There's arguing about who is our favorite character, discussion of mold, beheadings, all leading up to what is surely the literal recording of the sound the Reod made. It is horrifying, because that's what Shardcast is all about. Apparently. Quick disclaimer: if you are adamantly opposed to light innuendo, maybe sit this one out? We'll be better next time. It's all Josh and Eric's fault. Spoiler Warning: Obviously, there will be Elantris spoilers, but we also go into a light Emperor's Soul discussion, a small Way of Kings spoiler, and slight Mistborn spoilers. (What of the old podcasts? They are Season 0 now. Don't worry, we will have fun theoretical stuff for you theorizers. Just you wait.) Fun Facts: The title of Elantris was originally "Adonis", and was changed only after Brandon's reading group asked him what relation Greece had to his story.
  13. You know the sophomore slump, where the sequel is never as good as the first in a series? In this episode of Shardcast, we desperately try to avoid the sophomore slump with quotes and a better outline. Then, of course, everything Splinters. Fortunately, Kerry is able to put it together again and it's totally seamless. No awkward pauses or forced segues here, no sir. This week, we are discussing The Emperor's Soul, the cosmere novella which comes out in November, and speaking of souls, we also talk about the Spiritual, the Cognitive, and the Physical. That's right, we are digging into everything we know about Realmatics. So, of course, it comes out disjointed, because we pretty much know nothing about Realmatics. Fortunately, Will is here and adds crustaceans and waffles. Because you know what Realmatic Theory needs? Waffles. Apart from the madness, we impromptu theorize about Hoid worldhops, and come up with a darned good explanation about it and Shadesmar. So sit back, jump in a pool, and hear some mysterious voices: Shardcasty voices. The quote-filled outline for this episode Spoilers: A big Hero of Ages spoiler, with some Elantris, Warbreaker, and Way of Kings ones as well. 0:40 - Steelheart to be released Fall 2013 1:45 - Shadows for Silence May Be Cosmere 3:15 - CraftyGames has been working on Alloy of Law Supplement 3:50 - Mistborn: Birthright had a playable demo at E3 4:25 - Writing Excuses: Project in Depth - The Way of Kings 5:51 - The Emperor's Soul is coming out by Tachyon Publications in November 8:03 - The Emperor's Soul is on Sel 9:43 - Introduction to Realmatic Theory 26:30 - Three Parts of Magic
  14. Now with introductions out of the way, we delve into the meat of Shardcast: Brandon news, discussion, and theories. This week, we're talking about basic Cosmere stuff. Have you been confused about Hoid or the Shards? Slivers or Splinters? Vases, and splinters of vases? We discuss this and so much more. This is not a drill, this is the real deal. This episode has spoilers on: Pretty much everything (most importantly The Hero of Ages and The Way of Kings, but every cosmere book is touched on here).
