  1. I was examining the diagram of Orders of Knights Radiant. And I realized the lines connecting orders have 2 more lines than I ever noticed before. Each Order has a line connecting it to the Orders on either side (the ones it shares Surges with) and also a line connecting it to the Order exactly opposite it. Those didn't surprise me, but today I noticed that there are 2 extra lines, each connecting 2 Orders that otherwise would not be. On the right there is an extra line connecting Windrunners and Edgedancers, and on the left the line connects Lightweavers and Stonewards. Does anyone have any knowledge of why there are these extra connections? Windrunners bond Honorspren and Edgedancers bond Cultivationspren, so that does make some sense that they have an extra connection. Lightweavers and Stonewards are across from them symmetrically, but aside from that I'm not sure what reason they could be connected. I tried searching around the forums and the coppermind, but I haven't found any verified reasons for this. Any ideas?
  2. Spren only bond to those with gaps in their spiritual web. If a spren would fill such a hole, then the person becomes even more broken, could another spren come along and make the radiant a double radiant (with two spren)?.
  3. for each character, what do you think their myers-briggs personality type is? Specifically radiants.
  4. At the end of Words of radiant Adolin "murders" Sadias it's just a small thing but no radiant so far in the story has been a murderer and any killing by Shallan or Kaladin has always had an element of defence. Adolins killing of Sadias however was clearly cold blooded murder even if Sadias was a git.... This leads me to think that with WOR underlying theme for the first and third oaths Adolin won't be able to bond a Sprin In which case considering his nature could end up being rather interesting development when it comes to his relationships with the other characters especially the radiant ones. THOUGHTS????
  5. I've been thinking that Moash and Kaladin are maybe a bit like opposites; they were in a similar situation -- being in the bridge crews after tragedy befalling them or their families -- and Moash clings to revenge and he has that singular focus, while Kaladin turns away from revenge and arrives at the realization "I will protect even those I hate." (Speaking of which; isn't that such a totally mind-blowing statement?? I don't know if I could do that.) It seemed to me like they arrived at a similar crossroads and took opposite paths. Turning aside from selfish concerns to selfless ones. Thoughts?
  6. I wander if Radiant shardplate, when summonned, comes already attached and ready to go, or if it just appears in a pile next to you and you just have to put it on. Also do Radiants har screaming when they put on deadspren shardplate, and also, it's a bit hard on the spren who has to be both sword AND armour at the same time, or do you have to bond another spren to get armour, although i imagine that that would be quite annoying. Would love to hear your answers.
  7. A piece I'm currently working on of Kaladin fighting a Voidbringer! I'm hoping I'll have time to finish it and do colors in the next week or two (I'm currently doing Nanowrimo) I'm currently doing a kickstarter to print and ship my other pieces of art before Christmas. I'll have my other Cosmere fanart available to preorder! If you want, you can check it out here: http://kck.st/2yG1uaQ And yes, I double checked to make sure this was okay with Dragon Steel and is within their fanart policy ;)
  8. So this thought was kindled by an off handed comment on the shardcast, and so I ask here after some thinking. Can a radiant become a savant in a particular surge? Or perhaps even to stormlight in general? we understand from Mistborn that savantism is the almost rewriting/overwriting of your sDNA to be 'this particular way now' as being more attuned to a particular power, so would a radiant who is using their powers a lot become a savant? Does stormlight's healing abilities simply restore you to your sDNA perceptions before you can become a savant? I welcome your input.
  9. Ivory and Jasnah Kholin from Oathbringer.
  10. So I've been wondering, what exactly would a radiant bonding an honorblade entail? For one, would a radiant actually be able to bond an honourblade in the first place? Yes they can hold it without the screams but does their bond with a spren interfere here. But if they could and were to do so, then presumably they would gain the ability to use the surges associated with that honorblade. Once they have done this, would they still face the issues Szeth did with Jezrien's honorblade? Where stormlight would leak more quickly and such? Or would those things be overcome by their status as a radiant and the powers which come with that. Further, if this were possible, then how many could one person bond? Would it be possible to have a Windrunner say who then bonds all the honorblades and becomes a mega radiant? Or would the bonds interfere and get all confused? I welcome any input.
  11. I don't know if this has been discussed previously on the boards, but during part 2 of OB when we see the inner dynamic of Bridge 4, one can make a case for Rock not being a potential Windrunner despite being Kaladin's squire. What we see of him more closely alligns with Lightweavers. First, a characteristic of the ancient Lightweavers was providing 'spiritual sustenance' as described by the in-world Words of Radiance. Rock does this constantly, becoming almost by default the Bridge 4 in house therapist. Skar, Renarin, and Rlain specifically are encouraged and fortified during the Bridge 4 sequence, but he has done so almost since he was introduced as a character. He brought Teft into the fold and has even encouraged Kaladin on occasion. Second, Rock is a liar. Lightweavers deal in lies and truths; Brandon seems to go out of his way to emphasize Rock's lies. He constantly dwells on the lies he has told his comrads about his past and is grateful they don't speak his mother tongue. We as readers suspect what Rock is lying about although it has not yet been made explicit. As far as potential truths, he's admitted to himself that he is ashamed at how he lost his will to live running bridges until Kaladin Stormblessed dragged him from the brink. Three and Four are a bit tenuous but serve as background clues, something Brandon would put in so that us readers aren't so blindsided later. Rock refers to his cooking as art; art is typical of the Lightweavers though I'm not sure they were all artists. Even so, art can take many different forms. Shallan's sketchwork is integral to her Lightweaver abilities but we know of other examples. Elkohar, a proto-Lightweaver could draw a good map and was talented at interior design. Wit uses music as a medium for lightweaving, though he is using the Yolish variant. Who's to say cooking cannot be a form of artwork deemed acceptable to draw creation spren. We don't see cryptics gathering, but they and honorspren have quite the antagonistic relationship. Interference is possible. Another thing, we've already seen that one needs not be a Windrunner to be included in Bridge 4. It wouldn't be such a huge step for another example of the concept to manifest. Last, it's difficult to prove a negative, but why hasn't Rock attracted an Honorspren? He was the first of Kaladin's lieutenants and nearly the first to draw Stormlight as a squire. He was integral in the formation of Bridge 4. He's the first to see Syl. But if Sylphrenia is a guide for the type of person an honorspren is likely to bond (by no means a guarantee) then he doesn't quite fit what an honorspren would look for in a bondmate. It seems like they value irreverence in their partners, and Rock is too respectful to be of interest. Cryptics don't seem to be quite as discerning however. One potential problem I see is the squire problem i.e. how can one become a Radiant of one Order if he/she is a squire of another? The counter to this is Vathah. He's Shallan's squire but he doesn't seem to be particularly artistic or lacking in self-awareness. If he were to actually become a Knight I would bet he wouldn't be a Lightweaver. There may be other possible issues with my interpretation. Feel free to pick at the theory at will.
  12. So in Kal's fight with Szeth, we saw that Syl was capable of taking many forms, namely as a sword, spear, dagger, and shield. After reading this I got the impression that a spren can take on the form of essentially any weapon for the radiant. But as I thought about this I began to wonder if it is the same for ranged weapons. I'm sure a spren could take the form of a bow, or crossbow or whatever, but if they did how exactly does it work? Does the spren act as the bow and the arrows? Or simply the bow and you have to use regular arrows? Or could you use a regular bow with your spren acting as the arrows? Obviously, the spren being both is the more useful alternative, but I'm dubious as to whether the spren could actually manage it. Anyway, I hope someone knows more about this and can help me out.
  13. We saw when Dalinar bonded the Stormfather that he would not have a shard blade. I wonder whether this is the case for all Bondsmiths, and whether it applies to shardplate as well. Presumably a bondsmith could still wear shardplate without any issues. Also, I always got the impression that the Stormfather refused to be his blade out of pride, is there anything actually stopping the Stormfather from becoming his shardblade? Presumably, if Dalinar could be persuasive enough then the Stormfather may be convinced to become his blade. Feel free to correct me wherever I may be wrong. I welcome your input.
  14. I’m just curious, do we know what level of Radiant Jasnah is yet? We know she isn’t a full Radiant yet since she doesn’t have her armor or she presumably would have summoned it, and also because she clearly isn’t at her full potential when it comes to realm-hopping seeing as it took her over a year to get back from Shadesmar. But seeing how ludicrously overpowered she is in the Battle of Thaylen Field in terms of her Soulcasting even without her armor, it wouldn’t at all surprise me if she’s at least sworn her Fourth Ideal. Are there any WOBs addressing this? I wasn’t able to find any.
  15. Would a feruchemist (either a soulbearer or full feruchemist) who had ended up in Roshar and bonded a spren to become a radiant, then be able to store stormlight into a nicrosilmind? That is, would they be able to store stormlight in a nicrosilmind and use that rather than carry spheres or gemstones around with them everywhere they went? Is a nicrosil mind capable of doing this or would it simply store the ability to use stormlight, not the stormlight itself?
  16. How exactly does one steal the investiture of a radiant using hemalurgy? I would assume an atium spike is needed since atium is supposed to be able to steal any attribute, but when you steal their investiture do you force the spren to bond to you via the spike or do you simply take their ability to use stormlight without the spren?

  18. Following the most recent episode of Shardcast, I brain spewed forth this idea. As we have not yet seen Sja-anat in physical form, since we have not yet seen her features (her form is a black shadow iwith glowing white eyes), and since she seems to display not only sapience, but also independence of thought and action, is it possible that she is powerful among the unmade? If she has enough power, could she manifest a physical form? Since Odium was preparing Dalinar to fall, could Evi have been Sja-anat? Drawing from the podcast, if we assume that Sja-anat can resurrect dead spren, then it could be that Adolin's communication with his shard blade is inherited from his Unmade mother. This would also make Renarin a son of Sja-anat, and could potentially make him more susceptible to bonding to one of her corrupted spren. His sickness could also be a result of him possessing mixed DNA, or a mix of innate investiture. It also makes sense that Odium would use Sja-anat, posing as Evi, to push Dalinar further over the edge and make him more susceptible to The Thrill. She could do this by constantly challenging his values, or by acting completely out of character and doing something brash, like get captured by an enemy side.
  19. From the album: The Leap

Threw it into Photoshop to make some final effects after first fixing his vest, unifying the shadows, adding in some wind-spren/Syll etc.
  20. We know that to become a Knight Radiant, you have to be broken. But Adolin is such a happy, cheerful person. What if his 'breaking' happens when he finds out the truth about how Evi really died? The omission of Adolin's feelings on his mother's death was glaringly obvious....
  21. If Shallan was an augur and burned Gold, would she see possible pasts for herself, Radiant, and Veil?
  22. Do you think the laundry lady could become a Radiant? I thought during the Interlude that if she was that traumatized by Shallash ripping a painting, that she could potentially be broken enough by it to bond a spren. Maybe she was already broken, depending on her reasoning for being so dedicated to laundry. The fighting in Urithiru during Part 5, full of stabbing wounds of higher-ups (more valuable clothing) was probably enough to break her if she wasn't already. Thoughts on whether this counts as being broken?
  23. How does Hoid, or Vasher travel? Will the Stormlight books discover this? What does everyone think?
  24. Here's another piece. We've got Kaladin flying with Syll above the Shattered Plains. Happy to have worked through this one faster than previous works. Kept fiddling and fussing with this thing and eventually had to make myself stop. Lighting is hard business, let me tell you.
