  1. From the album: General SA Art

So the gatekeepers are my favorite depiction in OB. I had some much fun drawing this =)
  2. A piece I'm currently working on of Kaladin fighting a Voidbringer! I'm hoping I'll have time to finish it and do colors in the next week or two (I'm currently doing Nanowrimo) I'm currently doing a kickstarter to print and ship my other pieces of art before Christmas. I'll have my other Cosmere fanart available to preorder! If you want, you can check it out here: http://kck.st/2yG1uaQ And yes, I double checked to make sure this was okay with Dragon Steel and is within their fanart policy ;)
  3. At the end of WoR, IIRC, Kaladin was granted noble status and even some lands to rule over. Previously, after becoming a shardbearer, Moash was told he could choose a noble house to join, or found his own. My question is, do we know if Kaladin joined an existing house, or founded his own? (Also, if anyone knows, where exactly are his lands located? I don't remember (T . T) I need to reread)
  4. I wholeheartedly agree with this statement of Hoid. In that sense, Sanderson had been my favorite storyteller. He had broaden my mind and made me rethink my current perspectives of the world's workings especially when I read SA. Was there ever a point like that for you? Mine is certainly Jasnah's statement about the role of a woman. It is after reading the epigraph that I realize that it is truly absurd to even think that there is a certain "role" we must live up to. It is a refreshing persepective and certainly something that I want to adapt as my own.
  5. Can I just say how much I love that I have the same name as Adolin's sword? (Well I mean my name's Maia, (pronounced Maya), but it's close) I can officially say that my name is unique enough to make it into a Cosmere book. Not many people can!
  6. The other day at school I was in the library because the Librarian bought the Stormlight books! One of my friends teachers saw me, and later he stopped me in the hallway during study hall and we spent like 30min talking about Oathbringer, which he had finished the day before! Highlight of my week! It's the best when you find more people, or when you bring more people...I got my sister into Mistborn, and my friend into Stormlight and Mistborn
  7. From the album: General SA Art

So this is one of my favorite scenes in OB (Chapter 31), with Kaladin deflecting the highstorm, surrounded by windspren. Kind of like Moses opening the Red Sea, eh? XD (Just recovered from the long lull without OB art. There’s just so much to draw!) Something to match this scene:
  8. It’s almost one year and I thought about reminiscing the Oathbringer release, the anticipation leading up to it, the reading experience and feelings one year on. Words of Radiance was a real all time winner. I listened to it countless times on audio. I looked forward to the next book, but the weekly chapter release really amped up the anticipation. I remember waking up in the middle of the night to download the audio at the release time. It was a couple of hours late and so I bought the kindle version first to make sure I was straight into the unreleased chapters. As soon as the audio was downloaded I was on the audio. When I couldn’t listen any more I was straight back on to the kindle. In between, I would log on to post commentaries on each part. I don’t think I’ve annotated fiction books before this one. But some of the writing was gorgeous and some brutal. At times it dragged. But it was glorious all the way. I reread/reheard OB 2-3 times... One year on, I don’t feel the urge to reread OB or WoR. I am waiting for SA4, but it’s not the same any more. What are your guys thoughts?
  9. At the end of Oathbringer, Dalinar noticed that there were only nine orders of Radiants. We know that Malata of the Releasers is with Taravangian, and I've been thinking that this may be the order Dalinar noticed missing. Also there were only nine orders of the Fused. I feel like they have all the orders except for Bondsmith, which means they would only have nine orders. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
  10. I have a theory that Szeth was a developing surgebinder/ Knight Radiant prior to becoming the Assassin in White. When he tried to tell others about his powers, or even that the Knight’s Radiant were returning, they refused to believe him, and renounced him Truthless. The first evidence I noticed of this is from Words of Radiance. This is a passage from Kaladin and Szeth’s first encounter: Szeth is horrified and enraged after hearing Kaladin claim to be a Windrunner. He cannot believe the Knight’s Radiant are returning, because if it’s true then he was wrongly named Truthless and all the killing and suffering was put upon him unjustly. Even stronger evidence comes from Oathbringer when Szeth is confiding in Nightblood: I think the voice he is remembering was a spren he had bonded in his youth. A spren he ultimately killed through his actions as the Assassin in White. Does anyone else have any opinions? If he wasn't previously a surgebinder, what was the voice he was referring to? Also, I found it surprising that I couldn’t find anyone else talking about this. Feel free to let me know if there is already a post somewhere on the same topic that I missed.
  11. Spoiler warning maybe? So the unmade are spren right? And the keeper of secrets tells shallan to ask her son about trust, who im assuming is pattern when she refers to it, in oathbringer when shes at the gate. Heres a theory and prove me wrong if u want my friends and i argue about it, were the unmade the original "higherspren" of honor like the stormfather, only of each order of radiant. But then corrupted by odium before the nahel bond started? Why she says they were made, then unmade?
  12. Oathbringer / mistborn era 2 spoilers guys. So by the end of OB we see Hoid bond a Cryptic, which was quite an exciting event, add to this we know MB era 2 is between SA 5 & 6. So its got me thinking.. (my answers in bold) 1) Is Hoid still Bonded? yes 2) Has Hoid figured out how to take a spren off world? yes 3) Can anyone remember if this may have been suggestive in the texts? cant memba I can only remember two scenes; SoS - carriage driver when Wax talks to Harmony BoM - homeless person who talks to Wax out the front of "that" party where Hoid gives Wax the copper mind medalion. Anyway, thought this eas interesting and wanted to share. Thoughts guys? Anything else we can think of here..? !~ HIF ~!
  13. So Azure (Vivenna) has a 'shardblade'. This is obviously another awakened sword like Nightblood which can be seen when Azure describes her as she and can't dismiss it like another blade. What do you all think the command for this new sword could be and would she have made it herself or with Vasher's help? Not sure he'd feel too good about making another awakened sword after what happened with Nightblood.
  14. I'm doing a re read of oathbringer. In the scene where renarin and adolin meet at the horse stables, Renarin tells adolin he wants to give away his dead shardblade. In the scene Adolin touches Renarin's hand and Adolins broken wrist is healed. While Adolin is being healed he says he sees the man he could be, a complete man. Is he just seeing himself healed and then being healed or is renarin giving him a glimpse into a possible future for Adolin?
  15. Nananav was a character in Oathbringer who was robbed by Veil and her crew. Veil's crew posed as carpet workers, which allowed them to infiltrate the keep. The name Nananav reminds me of Nalthian naming schemes, with the repetition of consonants, such as Vivenna or Llarimar. I would assume she would be at third heightening or higher, which would allow perfect color recognition, as one line of dialogue from her is requiring the new carpet to be a perfect match of color. Am I reading too much into this?
  16. I'm thinking that due to the whole "One might save us, one will destroy us" thing from the back cover of Way of Kings, plus Kaladin's penchant for sacrificing himself, plus even the darkness that Kaladin harbors (in all variations), he might be the one to fall and become Odium's champion. Either him or Szeth, for similar reasons. Thoughts?
  17. Ok, so this post will discuss Oathbringer, Mistborn, shards, and other things in general. I think this is the right place. I don't want to do anything wrong by omitting any spoilers, so please be patient. I am still figuring things out on this site. I can't get this out of my head, so you my fellow Seventeenth Sharders will have to listen to this verbal vomit. ;p Anyways on to the meat of this topic here. As I am rereading Stormlight and the rest of cosmere stories in general, I have noticed as I am sure many others have as well that Odium is in fact the biggest threat to the Cosmere at large. So how to get rid of this threat? Odium needs to be splintered really good. I don't think that he should be restored and than combined with another shard. It would only be feasible if you combined all of the shards into one again, which I don't know if it is possible. I guess we might have a better idea how two opposing shards combined into one react in the next Mistborn series and we get inside Sazed's head. Is he still Harmony? Have the shards started to conflict with each other? This I feel is important, we need to know this. So how to deal with Odium. I feel there are some key players, Hoid, Kelsier, Jasnah, Shallan, Dalinar, the Ghostbloods, and perhaps the Ire. Hoid needs someone to help him, as I have a sneaking suspicion that is Hoid's quest, stop Odium. He probably has many more secret plots and quests of his own, but I feel this is the main one. We see this in the letter he writes to presumably Frost. So who would Hoid get help from, as the Seventeenth Shard holds a policy of non-intervention, they are virtually useless unless they change their policies. They would be the ideal candidates as they have a wealth of cosmere knowledge at their fingertips. So, I believe that Hoid has to rely on the Rosharans, namely the newly refounded Knights Radiants. After all, Odium is stuck in the Rosharan system for now. Hoid had mentioned Adonalsium briefly to Dalinar and he didn't understand what that meant. However, that doesn't mean he won't further investigate what that is. This is unlikely, but possible. So Jasnah or Shallan, if any were a candidate for Silverlight University, I feel it would be one or both of them. We don't know what Jasnah knows, she has a Herald now, so if she asks the right questions, she may find vital information not only about the Oathpact, but maybe what a shard is and how to splinter it. She also traveled with Hoid for a while after everyone thought that Jasnah was dead, who knows what they talked about. Again, with the right questions... Shallan has basically become a Ghostblood at this point. We know there are world hoppers in the organization, so at some point she is bound to come across important cosmere information as well. I read a post on here about Kelsier being the leader of the Ghostbloods and I can't get it out of my head. We know that Kelsier met with Khriss and Nazh so he certainly knows more now that he has been 'alive' for a very long time. He also witnessed the almost destruction of the shard Preservation. He also held the shard Preservation for a time to give it to Vin, so he was bound to gain even more cosmic awareness while Ascended. He also witnessed the merging of the shards Ruin and Preservation as well. And he 'retrieved' that device from the Ire (what other devices do the Ire have?). Now I'm not saying that just because Kelsier saw all of this, he immediately understood how to destroy a shard or 'heal' it, but he has seen firsthand which is more than most people can say. So, going off the premise that Kelsier is the leader of the Ghostbloods, this whole stop Odium thing is right up his alley. He has a Radiant, Shallan, to help and Shallan has access to other Radiants, i.e. Kaladin, Dalinar, etc. If anyone can destroy a god, it's Kelsier. The Fused are definitely a threat, but if you somehow found a way to kill them tomorrow, you would still have Odium, who is absolutely at this point filled with divine hatred. It has consumed the shard and its vessel, Rayse. So, the Parshendi, who are rightfully angry at the humans, and the humans need to team up, unite against Odium. So in conclusion, I feel that Odium is the biggest threat to the Cosmere at large, I could totally see him trying to turn the Cosmere at large into a dystopian future where everything an everyone looks bleak. We need people from all cosmere worlds to come together and help the Rosharans in this Final Desolation and splinter Odium, destroy Rayse's body once and for all. Only then can the Cosmere be relatively safe.
  18. So we know that Dalinar will eventually have to face Odium's champion, and who that will be is not yet known. But do we know whether Dalinar himself will actually fight? Or rather appoint his own champion? Dalinar is still a capable warrior yes, particularly with stormlight to aid him, but he's getting older now. He may opt to have someone, such as Kaladin, serve as his champion against Odium's. However, Dalinar is a bondsmith and the Stormfather mentions on at least one occasion that he has the most powerful of the surges, so perhaps Dalinar has an advantage there. Even if he were to fight himself, what weapon would he use? He wouldn't have a shardblade, unless that is when the stormfather finally gives in on that matter. Perhaps he could use one of the honorblades? I believe Vyre now has Jezrien's, but if Dalinar could get hold of one of the honorblades then he would have a shard and hopefully new surges to play around with. But still, how will he face his enemy do we think? The nine shadows of Odium's champion sounds dangerously like a reference to the unmade (perhaps somehow fused into the one champion?). So even with a blade and possibly two extra surges, how could he even hope to defeat his enemy? I realise I am not very familiar with the deeper lore of these books, but that's why I'm here asking questions, right? Anyway, I welcome your thoughts.
  19. Hi Sanderfans/Sharders, I will be posting a series of "scrolls" about Moshe Feder, Brandon's Tor editor, on my blog. Moshe was the person who "discovered" Brandon and acquired Brandon's sixth novel Elantris in 2003. In 2005, Elantris became Brandon's first published novel. Moshe has kindly agreed to be interviewed for this series. Here is the first "scroll" in case any of you are interested to check it out: http://shazarose.blogspot.com/2018/08/moshe-man-behind-copper-mind-scroll-1.html This is the first scroll in what is expected to be a multi-short scroll series on Moshe. A future planned "scroll" will document half of Brandon's twin inspiration for including characters like Kaladin, Shallan and Dalinar, who all suffer from various mental health issues, in his Stormlight Archive series. Moshe himself is one half of this inspiration, and I will be documenting Moshe's bout of bipolar that he wants to share in order to help raise awareness about mental health issues. When I asked him if it would be a painful thing for him to share, he had this to say: "Not painful to share. It’s a duty to help fellow sufferers and to work on reducing stigma. When I was Corflu (fanzine fan con) GoH, it was a major part of my speech." Hope you do enjoy the series if you decide to check it out! Warmest Regards Sharon Hooper
  20. From the album: General SA Art

Law is light, and darkness does not serve it. Finally finished this! My favorite order other than the Lightweavers =) Highspren are just so cool! More KR lineup pieces to come!
  21. Because all of the Shards of Adonalsium have their own predesignated Intents, I have come to wonder if Adonalsium itself had an Intent of its own before it was shattered. And I believe that Intent, and therefore the name we can ascribe to the power of Adonalsium, is Unity. First of all, this stems from the nature of the religions on Sel, as shown in Elantris. The two dominant religions on Opelon in conflict with one another are Shu-Korath and Shu-Dereth. The way I see it, Shu-Korath relates closely to the Intent of the Shard of Devotion, and Shu-Dereth relates closely to the Intent of Shard of Dominion. Both were killed and Splintered early on Sel, but they still have a great influence on Sel, not just in the form of seons and skaze, but in the form of religious precepts. And what is it the Korathi and the Derethi are both striving for in the world? Unity. They seek to unite all people, but in different ways. The Korathi preach love, the Derethi preach control. Unity through Devotion. Unity through Dominion. Of course, this could be seen as the effect of people’s interpretations of Intent rather than Shards themselves, so who knows. My second point is a rather weaker one, relating to Scadrial and its Shards. When Ruin and Preservation are combined into one, they for the dual Shard of Harmony. It is a perfect Unity of the two most opposing Intents. If anything, I consider unity and harmony to be synonymous one with another (and so does the thesaurus ). Third of all is in the Stormlight Archive, Honor repeats the same command to Dalinar in each of his visions – Unite them. It almost even seemed a bit out of character to me that the dead Shard seemed to care more about unity on Roshar rather than the honor of mankind. We don’t even know entirely what he means by that phrase, but it is his ever-present plea. Unite them. Whatever it means, Honor desires unity of some sort. And in Oathbringer, it reaches a culmination that seemed to be set up from the start of the series. The previous points could be considered speculation, but this is a real example in the books that works as evidence. The linchpin for this theory is the climactic scene in Oathbringer in which Dalinar swears his third Ideal, opens Honor’s perpendicularity, and is referred to as having Ascended. When Venli asks him who he is, he responds, “I am Unity” before uniting the three Realms. This seems to go along with what Honor’s visions have been saying to him. The interesting part is this: it’s right after he says those words and brings the Realms together that Odium steps back in fear and rage, saying, “No, we killed you! WE KILLED YOU!” Now, why would he say that in direct response to Dalinar calling himself Unity? At around that same time, Dalinar remarks to himself that Odium suddenly seems small compared to him. It seems to me that in that moment, Dalinar somehow took up a bit of Adonalsium when he briefly Ascended and somehow knew it, which was why he referred to himself with the title of “Unity”. There are even moments in the series before and after that scene where he describes feeling a warmth and a light that comes from somewhere beyond, something different from Honor. It makes me think that the voice telling him to “unite them” may not even be Honor’s. And if it is, it seems to bear the touch of Adonalsium. On Roshar, Dalinar is meant to “unite them” to save humankind. On Sel, the religions based off the two Shardic Intents are looking for unity through devotion and dominion. On Scadrial, Sazed has become the unified form of two Shards as Harmony. As shown by these three series, unity seems to be a big driving force in the cosmere, one closely related to some of the Shards and perhaps something beyond even them. Why? Because I think Unity was the Intent of Adonalsium, and that it has left its touch on the Shards even after all the time it was Shattered. So my next big question is – if the ultimate power of the cosmere was the godly embodiment of unification, then why would people want to divide it? But hey, that's just a theory. A Cosmere Theory! Thoughts on this theory as a whole? TL;DR: Adonalsium had the Intent of Unity, with possible evidence given in Elantris, Mistborn and the Stormlight Archive.
  22. So far we have seen Shallan tell 2 truths, or 2 ideals for light weavers. But she already had her shard blade, which, correct me if I'm wrong, means she has already sworn 3 ideals/told 3 truths. So that would mean she's 5th ideal? which seems weird to have a full radiant in book 3. But I can't think of any other explanations other then maybe lightweavers get their blade before other orders, but why would they? lightweavers don't really seem like the fighters. I would guess stonewards would get their blades early if any of them do. maybe bondsmiths because dalinar did summon the storm father as a blade before he swore the 3rd ideal. If this is true it confirms the whole Radiant wearing shardplate in the last battle (can't think of the name) at the end of oathbringer.
  23. Oathbringer is getting steamy sexy and I’m only on page 148. I don’t remember Shallan imagining her tongue in Adolin’s mouth or fantasizing about seeing his birthmark on his beefy thigh in book 2 or Dalinar devouring Navani in his passionate desire. Whoo! It’s not just the Everstorm that’s heating things up on Roshar! Anyone else noticing this?
  24. I really liked the imagery of Shallan's illusions and the story, so I tried to capture it. Room for improvement, for sure, but I'm still learning, so I'm quite proud of it :)
