  1. Okay. So I had this conversation with @IheartKaladin4eva, among others. What's up with his hair?(haha Studio C y'all) But seriously. It covers his brands, but I refuse to believe he has bangs. Because A.) Just no B.) Kaladin wouldn't think about his appearance enough to get bangs. So now that that's established, the real question is: THEN WHAT THE HECK IS HAPPENING WITH HIS FACE?? Is it just always in his face? Does he have a ridiculous side part that just makes his hair able to cover his forehead? I'm tortured by these questions! Also, sidenote:
  2. From the album: Shallan Stormblessed's not incredible art!

I tried a wider scene, with all of Kal and Syl visible. But.. failed miserably. So then I just did this. And it was fun. And by the way, it's supposed to be a scar on his arm.
  3. I just... hope he'll be okay. I'm pretty sure he will be, after Rhythm of War. But... let's just lament his tragedies some. Yeah, it's a Kaladin sympathy thread. Is this too weird?
  4. So... Dalinar's going to be the champion. His own champion, not Kaladin. But... Kaladin's younger. He has Shardblade and Plate. He might even be a better fighter. And yes, I get that it would be better for his arc and mental health for him not to fight. And he just basically fought an entire war by himself, and seriously needs a break. But... he's got such better chances that it bugs me.

  7. So, I just find it funny that everyone(everyone in-world) sees Kaladin as lucky, when he most certainly is not, in my opinion. Take the fact that all the reasons people think he's lucky(surviving the storm, surviving the chasms, surviving being a bridgeman) were caused by Stormlight. So take all those "lucky" things... look at his life otherwise... and you have a very unlucky dude.
  8. I haven’t finished the rest of the book so no spoilers if this becomes immediately relevant and I doubt it will. but with kaladin being made cosmere aware thanks to vasher he is being position as a worldhopper assuming he doesn’t die in book 5. I think we are very obviously supposed to think this is gonna be kaladin whcih make some speticsl but then it made me think, what if kaladin gets powers from every shard. kaladin has powers from honor The theory about him bonding yxili exists harmony if he discovers his existence may be interested idk I just kinda want to know if anyone else has other theories on this
  9. As I was reading Rhythm of War, Kaladin's vision of Tien caught my eye and one particular phrase raised a huge question for me. When Tien says (paraphrasing here, will add actual quote later today) "look at them Kal. Look at their colors" in reference to his Connections to others, it almost seems like a huge hint as to the significance of color in the Cosmere. And because Kaladin later found the wooden horse that was handed to him in the vision, it seems that it was a genuine Connection he had with Tien from the Beyond. Does anyone else get the feeling that this is vastly important? Or that it might be worth getting a WoB on? Also, side note to make this post super long, we have a WoB confirming that color is important in the Mistborn series and we know that Honors color is blue and Honor is the force of cohesion, that which binds and Connects things to each other. I'm assuming this is why the lines that show allomancers sources of metal, or their Connection to them, are blue. The only other reference to color in Mistborn that I know of is that Ruin is black and Preservation is white. Is it possible that Ruin was directly involved in the creation of nightblood which is why nightblood turned black upon its creation? It's command is "destroy evil" and destruction is exactly ruin
  10. I was wondering. So Kaladin was branded by Amaram, and his squad was killed. As we all know. At least I hope you do, if you're here. If not... sorry for the spoiler. Anyway! How did no one notice that the famous Kaladin Stormblessed and ALL of his squad disappeared? I mean, even if he was killed in battle, people would probably hear about it. Also what did Amaram do to get Kaladin into slavery? Did he wait till a slaver came? If so, what did he do with Kaladin during that time? That leads to this funny imagined interaction: Random Guy: Hey Highmarshal! How are you? Amaram[loudly]: I'M GREAT! Random Guy: What's that screaming in your closet? Amaram: OH! That? That's just my... pet chicken. Pay no mind.
  11. Detail Process Young Kaladin is based on my "Kid Kal" character design:
  12. *stupid question alert* Okay, so in Words of Radiance, Kaladin, after fighting Szeth the first time, falls unconscious randomly. Why? Also in Rhythm of War, he falls unconscious after the fight at the well. Why?

    Close up~

  14. A few sketches from recently! We need more Syl in uniform <3
  15. I was wondering. So we know that in Urithiru Kaladin is extremely famous, and is a war hero. And he has slave brands, so obviously he was a slave. What I want to know is what is common knowledge about his life, and what's not. Typing this it seems clear just that everyone knows that he was a bridgeman and a slave, but if anyone has any evidence to the contrary, please do tell! Also, what do Shallan, Adolin, Dalinar etc. know about his past?
  16. Scenario: during WoR, when Rlain is still acting like a Parshman, Kaladin is given a new servant that looks kind of weird, has completely gray skin, and for some reason requires saying "Bridge 4" before and after an order before the servant will do anything, even rest. Kaladin, being Kaladin, attempts to befriend "Gray" as the other bridgemen have cleverly dubbed the fellow, as clearly Gray has had worse trauma than most, maybe he went and did something with the Nightwatcher and the Old Magic. Later, in Oathbringer when members of Bridge 4 are becoming squires, Kaladin pulls aside Gray and Hobber, the two most crippled bridgemen, to give them direct coaching on breathing in Stormlight. Hobber succeeds, the Light healing his soul-dead legs, enabling him to stand. Gray when ordered to breath in Light ______?
  17. Is kaladin an unbound surgebinder? He was using his surges and stormlight before he said the first ideal and as far as I can recall he was the only one to do so aside from the windrunner squire. Maybe this is part of the reason he was able to be awake and use his basic lashings in urithiru, he was able to use them before saying his ideals.
  18. Dalinar says it multiple times: Kaladin's not a warrior, he's a soldier. What exactly does he mean by this? Kaladin is definitely a good fighter. So what does Dalinar mean by this? Also, the most recent repeat of this idea is after Navani says "And I doubt anyone the enemy presents can best Stormblessed." To which Dalinar says he's not picking Kaladin. Navani says, "Why not? He's our best warrior." Navani has joined the Kaladin Is Unbeatable Club, accompanied by all of Bridge Four, Dalinar, Vyre, Venli, Leshwi, and all of the citizens of Urithiru. Dalinar says "no he's our best soldier." What is the difference? I don't understand...?
  19. I'm not saying Kaladin's a more interesting character. I'm saying, just as people, Kaladin is better than Kelsier. 1. Selfless... or not? Kaladin is far more selfless than Kelsier. In Rhythm of War, he gives up the possibility of peace to save his friend. He is very willing to give up his own well-being for others. But it seems like everything Kelsier does is to be THE AWESOMEST and to be seen as THE AWESOMEST. Which is a very different motivation. 2. Intentionally Starting Followings Kelsier made a kandra imitate him to intentionally start a cult/religion. All Kaladin had to do was be his awesome self-- and boom! Shash brands painted on foreheads galore! He wasn't even trying to start a cult. Which isn't the same thing, I know. But Bridge Four sorta worship him a little, which he did not intend. So Kelsier worked to make people worship him, where as Kaladin just did his thing and oops, he (kind of) started a cult. 3. Grudges Well, in the first couple books, Kaladin hates lighteyes. All. Of. Them. Well, in all of Kelsier's books, he. Hates. Nobles. He will kill nobles just for existing. And even when Kaladin was at the worst of hating lighteyes, he didn't indiscriminately murder them. And he slowly learns to get over his grudge. I see that most nobles were actually evil in Mistborn, whereas not as much so in Stormlight. But still, Kelsier takes his hate to a disturbing level. And he basically refuses to see that any nobles could be good. Whereas by Words of Radiance, Kaladin is willing to see that lighteyes(Shallan, Dalinar) can be good people. Even when Kelsier saves Elend's life, he does it because of Vin, not because he thinks Elend is a worthwhile person. Whereas Kaladin uses what he thinks are his last breaths to try and protect a lighteyes(in WoR). Honorary Mention: 4. The Ghostbloods??? Okay, this one is less supported and less reasoned out. <---(is that a thing people say?) But I don't know, the Ghostbloods seem pretty shady. And... yeah. Kelsier... is...(beware, weird Cosmerian spoilers follow...) Thaidakar! Leader of the Ghostbloods! And if that's not fishy, I don't know what is. Disclaimer: I have not read Mistborn Era 2.(haha almost spelled Era as Ear) But yeah! Feel free to argue discuss to your heart's content! I will see if anyone changes my mind...(do I know what that emoji means exactly...? not really. oh well.)
  20. This is something that puzzled me in reading Wit's stories/interactions. If y'all could offer input, that'd be cool. I noticed that it seems like Wit is a lot gentler when he tells Shallan a story/talks to her than when he tells Kaladin stories/talks to him. For example, in Rhythm of War, in the Dog and the Dragon, Kaladin says, This seems a bit harsh, considering all Kaladin's been through in the past ?week?month?(technically we don't know that Wit knows that, but I've just gotten used to assuming Wit knows everything. And he could probably figure out something's going on, judging by Kaladin's exhaustion/"close to giving up") We also have the story of Fleet(or at least that scene): This seems... unnecessary. It is really funny, but it's a seemingly random jab at Kaladin, who I'm not sure needs it or could benefit from it. In Wandersail, Wit doesn't exactly insult Kaladin, but he does intentionally misinterpret what Kaladin says to annoy him, kind of a lot. And while Wit still is very gentle and sweet to Kaladin at times, he is also quite salty sometimes. Whereas with Wit, at least in the chapter The Girl Who Stood Up, pretty much the meanest things he say to her are "I thought you knew this story", "Skip? Skip part of a story?", "Wrong answer. She was both", along with some interesting debates. But other than that, he's loving and kind and comforting to her, a sharp contrast to how he treats Kaladin a good chunk of the time. Does anyone care to offer their ideas for why this is the case? P.S. I am aware that Wit is a worldhopper and is more commonly referred to as Hoid. But I prefer calling him Wit.

I don't think I'll ever be able to pin down a consistent way to draw this man
  22. So I had this theory just pop into my head as I was reading and it basically is this: Will Syl eventually choose to be enlightened by Sja-anat to better understand emotion? So far all the spren of Roshar have been of Honor and Cultivation and recently, some, touched by Odium. Odium is described as passion and emotion so it makes sense that his power would help sapient spren to better understand emotion, especially in humans. Syl has expressed a desire to better understand Kaladin and his emotions, even going to Dalinar for help. Would not then, she go to Sja-anat to become more than just of Honor and Cultivation? Maybe even Odium? We know that Odium is not going anywhere now and that he is now a part of Roshar so would it be wrong to assume that spren will start being influenced by his power? What are your guys thoughts on this? Am I completely wrong?
