  1. Okay, so I admit that the only reason I posted this was to get attention and let everyone know I'm semi-officially off hiatus. I feel like the title says it all, so I'm not going to go into details about motivations and stuff. Well, maybe my motivations for posting this cancer. I did it because every other even remotely plausible ship (and many even less plausible ones) seemed to be taken, and nobody else seemed to be posting about this. Also, Kaladin seemed a bit lonely on his island of being an extremely screwed up grumpy woobie, so I figured I might as well give him company in that. Please don't like this trash. The attention it generates is enough. You can discuss it if you want in the comment section below, though. That's what the comment section is for.

    Valentine

    From the album: Shalladin

My valentines gift to myself. There's not enough fan art of affection in the fandom, whether platonic or romantic. You could take this as either.
  3. Hi everyone, I just wrote this article about how Brandon was partly inspired by his editor, Moshe Feder, who has bipolar disorder, to create characters with mental issues like Kaladin, Shallan, Dalinar and Teft for The Stormlight Archive: http://shazarose.blogspot.com/2018/09/through-mind-darkly.html Moshe wanted to share his story because he felt that it was important to do so: “It’s a duty to help fellow sufferers and to work on reducing stigma. When I was guest of honor at Corflu 19, it was a major part of my speech.” I hope that it provides an insightful read if you decided to check it out. Warmest Regards Sharon
  4. I have a question. (Obviously) but me and my brother have been having a debate about who would win in a fight; Kaladin Stormblessed, or Eragon Shadeslayer. Obviously Eragon is stronger in magic, but Kadin is a Windrunner... sort of. So anyway, who do you think would win?
  5. So I was wondering who is the most dangerous of our POV characters thus far. Kaladin, Shallan , or Adolin? For purposes of this tally only named characters count. Minions don’t count.for example Adolin jumps on the battlefield and kills 20 parshendi with his shardblade they don’t count unless that parshendi had a name like Eshonai . Using this guideline who has the most kills ? Who is the most deadliest? Please list the number of kills u tally to the character! U might be surprised who wins.
  6. If SA was an animated tv show, this would be a filler episode, because C-H-O-U-T-A. Who cares what it's made of, because it's filled with fried crunchy bits and covered in gravy! Knowing that the gravy pot hasn't ever been washed since the cook first bought it gives the food character. Why is Kaladin such a grumpyhead? Full picture - CLICK TO OPEN!!! Process:
  7. So I was reading The Dictator's Handbook and was suddenly struck with a horrible thought. Kaladin is PERFECTLY positioned to take control of Urithiru and Alethkar from Dalinar and Jasnah. We know that he would never do this because we can see his inner thoughts, but the other characters can't and so might assume that the picture of him as the devoted and incorruptible scion of Dalinar is a facade (like Amaram's was) and act accordingly. Here are the facts as I see them: 1) Kaladin is the most potent warrior among the Radiants when it will count. This is straightforward, not only is he the only one with military training and a shardblade (sorry Dalinar) but he is shown to be a brilliantly gifted fighter in addition. You can (and probably should) make the argument that Jasnah would be more useful on a battlefield with all she can do with soulcasting, but when facing other Radiants who are resistant to soulcasting because of their investiture, the edge goes to Kaladin. 2)The Windrunners are the only order in Urithiru with multiple Radiants. This is not likely to change soon either. Rather, they are likely to expand their lead going forward based on their efforts at recruitment. 3)The Windrunners have dozens of squires to supplement their ranks. Aside from Shallan's three, they are the only order with squires at all and having a bunch of people who can surgebind is the sort of thing that might be useful. 4) There are 1000-ish bridgemen with top notch military training, equipment, and discipline. Moreover, they serve as the only bodyguards for Dalinar, his family, and some of his important commanders and brightlords. We saw how that can be potentially dangerous in the scene between Dalinar and Elhokar near the end of WoK. 5) The Windrunners and the bridgemen are not loyal to Alethkar, Dalinar, or the new queen, but Kaladin personally. History says this doesn't end well. Rome especially got into massive trouble when their armies became more loyal to their commanders than the state. At least some of these things should be known by the more politically savvy members of the Alethi court. Jasnah specifically has shown a proficiency at the cloak and dagger side of politics during her scene in WoR when she met Ivory for the first time and when the whole Renarin business at the end of OB occurred. It seems at least possible that she considers him a threat to her family dynasty and is contemplating a way to "take care" of him. That is a worst case scenario, but it seems unlikely to me that there won't be some sort of conflict in this area. I would love to hear what everyone thinks.
  8. Because this is the closest I'll ever get to skill at art, I present to you good people of the shard... Stormlight Archive, as told by legos! (only characters right now, I may do some other things in the future... In order: Szeth - (assassin in white), Blackthorn, Eshonai, Elhokar, Sadeas - (grandbow), Shallan, Kaladin - (Radiant), Renarin - (bonding a Blade), Renarin - (Radiant). I just realized these belong in a gallery, all my new ones will be there
  9. I just finished the three Stormlight books, and with my brain like a sieve I find all the little details filtering away, and I feel like some important tidbits are just gone from my brain and there are just too many thousands of pages for them to hide in. So, if any of you can refresh my memory, I would be grateful. 1. How did the soulcaster break? When I first heard it was broken in WoK and the damage was described, I assumed it was a shadeblade that did the damage and that Shallan did it when she killed her father. This turned out not to be the case. Did we ever find out what cut the chains, and who had it when it happened? 2. If Lin was working with the Ghostbloods, what the heck were the Ghostbloods trying ti achieve with the help of such an unlikable guy? 3. Who was Helaran working with? Same group as Gavilar? 4. If the Shard Bearer that Kaladin killed actually was Helaren (it was definitely Helaran's sword, and Amaram said the guy was Veden), where did he get the black horse and Shard Plate? 5. There were hundreds if not thousands of people who saw the Shard Bearer on the field, though not the battle where he was killed. Why did Amaram wait six months to publically lay claim to the Shards?
  10. Ok.ok. Hear me out. Both Jasnah and Renarin had childhood illnesses. Relatives aka Gavilar and Dalinar probably also exposed. Kaladin and Tien lived basically in a germ factory (surgeon's house). The only cluster that needs any explaining is the Shallan, Helleran cluster. Gotta search for references of Shallan being sick. Anybody know offhand? Lift's background is both special and specially clouded so literally nothing to say there. Both the cobbler and the orphanage lady had a lot of exposure to kids and their germs. I'd say it's some kind of illness kids are unusually susceptible to but people don't usually get as adults because the kids get it doing some kid behavior adults don't do. Probably not airborn.
  11. i need to know the page numbers please I can't find these in the book since its so large and i don't have the time to re read it and look for them the whole way through, thanks “Accept the pain, but don't accept that you deserved it.” quote 1 “You tried to break me as a slave. But you failed. They rescued me.” Maybe it’s time for someone to save you, Syl had said in Shadesmar. But someone already had. Amaram raised the Shardblade high. “Bridge Four,” Quote 2
  12. This was too much fun to draw. Part of a drawing challenge on my Tumblr. Hopefully more to come soon! "Storming woman."

© Art belongs to Natalie Rodgers. All characters belong to Brandon Sanderson. This is merely my interpretation and is therefore unofficial.

  13. I'm new here to the forums so sorry if this is something that has been brought up before but I haven't heard anyone talk about. So this insmy thought on how the spren choose people and how the nahel bond connects humans to spren. So my theory started recently in my millionth reread of WoR when Kaladin says tonSyk that he is no knight, that he is broken. Syl replies to them that all of the knights radiants are broken, much like Kaladin and shallan and even Yv from the interlides was in his youth. The next part that grew my theory was when Szeth is sitting in top on Urithiru and mentions how the town's people leave out spheres for him to use and mentions he burns through them to fast since he has" to I'm perfect a body". The last part that goes into this invloves Mistbirn Secret History and Keliser and crazy people. He can only interact with crazy people and syas that they have cracks in their spirit. So my theory is after I've already made this way to long a post is this, the Soren watch people who are " broken" or have "cracks" in their spirits, they watch them.closley because these are the people they can not only see more clearly in the coginitve real but also because it is easier for them to bond with them the same was as it's easier for Keliser to talk to crazy people. I think that this also has to do with why they can burn storm light more effectively since the nahel bond fills in the cracks in the spirit web in the cognitive real bringing making them partially begin to bind spiritually with a Soren that is made of and lives if investiture. Sorry for rambiling that out and not really getting my points across it's late here in the east coast, it's much clearer in my head. Still I would love to hear what you think, looking forward to being part of the forums.
  14. Hi everyone. I wanted to share a bit of fan art with you. Enjoy!

    The Highstorm

    From the album: Shalladin

Another old piece in which Kaladin feels guilty after finding out about Shallan's brother while they shelter during the Highstorm.
  16. From the album: Shalladin

The silly result of a fashion challenge over on my tumblr. The prompt was "Shallan + Fingerless gloves"
  17. From the album: Shalladin

A silly doodle regarding certain changes in appearance that are bound to irritate a certain bridgeboy.
  18. When they're on the honorspren ship, Kaladin attracts some windspren. He does this by...thinking really hard? Anyone understand this...?
  19. From the album: Doll Customizing

Starting on Kaladin's wig! Gotta glue those wefts underneath the cap so I can pull the hair back enough to show off his brands without revealing the underside. I think he looks very bishonen atm. Eat your heart out, Adolin.
  20. My theory is that the fourth oath is where the Windrunner must choose who to protect over everyone else. Which explains why kaladin has so much trouble with this oath, he wants to protect everyone. Also, this is officialy my one hundredth post.
  21. From the album: General SA Art

I’m currently working on a bunch of rough character faceshots for OB, as a study for some larger pieces I’ve intended to draw since long ago =) The first one is Kaladin! (Man, I hadn’t seriously drawn him for several months…)

    Showdown

Someday I'll get around to organising and dumping all my artfiles. I think the concept behind this came into being after seeing re-runs of the cartoon series Xiaolin Showdown on TV, and the stylised opening titles inspired me. It makes a good desktop background. FULL SIZE: Featuring: 1. Perpetual left swipe 2. Highprince of projection 3. Totally spy 4. Demon crabgirl 5. Vorin fundie 6. Machiavelli grandpa Some notes I wanted to add: I have no idea what Pattern's blade form is like (other than glowing red designs) since he changes shape in every sword appearance. But Shardblades appear out of mist so I assumed Pattern sort of went blurry on the edges and phased into swordform. Taravangian's rock isn't really a cool weapon, but I didn't want to put Szeth in there because Szeth is not actually on the "doing bad things" side anymore. I wanted each "villain" to be the enemy or the opposite of the "heroes" piece, as Amaram is to Kaladin. Szeth didn't really fit there and the most appropriate named person I could think of for Shallan was the guy who pretty much killed a quarter of Jah Keved. I tried to keep the heights and sizes canonically proportional, but Shallan is around 20-25cm (8-10") shorter than Kaladin and so should be at his chin-level if I was being accurate. I upsized her (maybe she's standing on a box like they use when filming kissing scenes?) to make the heights slope evenly But Eshonai really is a 215cm (7') giant who towers over all the human characters when she's in Shardplate. I always imagined Amaram to look like the Alethi model illustration in the fashion folio from WoR. And his uniform is a similar design to the Kholin officer one, but in green with rectangular shoulder patches and yellow and white piping. He also has flash cufflinks and cravat stickpin.
  23. Excellent question, Syl. Who? Brandon left the person referred to by Kaladin unnamed. I think this character is going to play a larger role in the future books. Who is this mysterious person? A past love interest? A family member? Or, do you think the person is dead, and played a huge role in Kaladin’s life? (Example: Tien.)
  24. I was talking to one of my friends earlier about OB characters. Specifically Shallan, Kaladin, and Adolin, and which he shipped together. He chose Shadolin. We got to talking to how much I despised Shallan for her lies. He said that Shallan and Kaladin were fundamental opposites. Kaladin being all Honorable and brooding, and Shallan with her Lies and hiding behind a bright, smiling face. Like their characters were purposely made to oppose Tell me what you guys think about this, it blew my mind just thinking about it. I am sorry ☻
