  1. So my girlfriend and I decided to get some tattoos before going back home for work. I finally got around to getting my knights radiant tattoo. It's the symbol for the Willshapers in a beautiful deep purple.
  2. It’s been a while since I posted on here but I figured I’d share some custom cosmere figures I’ve done. I am an action figure collector and found the lack of Cosmere figures aggravating so I made some myself. So far I’ve done Ham, Vin and Kelsier and I’m almost finished with a Szeth and Adolin with a Spook, Breeze, Kaladin, Shallan and Dalinar in the works. I would like to someday finish off the main casts of Stormlight and Mistborn and then the rest of the Cosmere books when I get around to reading them. Thanks for checking out my work sorry that these are tilted weird. Couldn’t figure out how to fix it UPDATE: I recently finished some Stormlight figures. Here we have Shallan Davaar, Adolin Kholin and Szeth. Shallan Davaar is my favorite Stormlight character and the most frustrating of the six to work on. She is a mix of three different figures so all of her pieces don’t fit together perfectly. It ended up working out well in the end. From the neck down is all custom paint/ dye and her safe hand was sculpted by me. Next is my other favorite Stormlight character, Adolin! He was really fun to paint and he’s probably my favorite of the six. All the armor was originally silver and the hair is also painted. The shardblade is hand sculpted, that’s why it’s not super accurate. Helmet can fit on him as well. Last is Szeth, Assassin in white. He is probably the most simple of all six. All he needed was a few symbols removed from the white clothes and he was done. His blade also needed heavy modifications seen as it was designed for six inch figures. thanks for taking a look at my work! Really appreciate it!
  3. Hi everyone, I'm new here but I asked around a bit and found that my ideas on this are somewhat unique, so I thought I'd start this thread. There will be a lot of discussions I'm hoping to be a part of, but the one that interests me first and foremost is my interpretation of what he is trying to do with the Cosmere books. Specifically, it is my belief that each Cosmere world is Brandon's exploration of a specific ideological framework (perhaps not to be taken too literally, but definitely with a broad brush), its benefits as well as its pitfalls. For example, Scadrial would obviously be his exploration of Judeo-Christian ideology and its various denominations. Sel, I believe is an exploration of nationalism, patriotism, and various aspects of cultural identity and mythlore (the 'Shining City on a Hill', myth for example). The one I am most certain of, however, and have the most research to back up my theories with, is Roshar as an exploration of Buddhism and its philosophies. I am fairly certain that each of the orders of the Knights Radiant is centered on a keyword in each of the 10 Vows of the Amida Buddha. It also seems to me that the symbol for the Knights Radiant (or perhaps that is just the symbol for Roshar in general, I am unsure if he's ever given a clear answer on that) with the 5 swords effectively creating 10 points of intersection on a circle bears a striking resemblance to the Dharma Wheel (see attached image) and even the continent of Roshar seems suggestive of the Yin/Yang symbol to me. I have much, much more but I have to dig my notes out, something I absolutely will do, but in the meantime, any thoughts?
  4. So I have recently finished rereading the Mistborn series and a thought struck me. When do the books take place in relative time to each other? Elantris, Mistborn Era 1, warbreaker, and the stormlight archives all seem to be medieval-ish, but are they all happening at relatively the same time? I know that oathbreaker has to be after warframe because nightblood talks about Vasher, but what of the others? And when does Hoid decide to jump around in the cosmere? another question I have is relating to the cognitive realm. The cosmere is one big solar system, so that means some planets orbit faster than others. So would worldhoppers really have to know when they want to get where if they are say, doing a delivery of some sort from one planet to the next, or handing nightblood from one planet to the other? I have to admit, the delivery of nightblood was kinda perfect. Did Hoid send nightblood? i know I might have crammed in a lot of questions into one, but I’m really curious about all of this.
  5. I recently fell under a misconception. I was told that there was a running RP on the 17th Shard. I, unfortunately, mistook the statement as meaning there was a standardized RPG game complete with GMs and a running community. I was corrected and ended up in a very long conversation with a friend of mine about what would be required for an adequate, or preferably amazing, RPG. So, I have created this thread with the hope of finding how many people would enjoy such a game. Current plans: In-depth (and specialized) character sheets that gauge state of mind, how broken the character is, (snapping, insanity, Etc.) and how aligned they are with their ideals and goals. Online compatibility. (You do not need to be in the same room to play) Worldhoppers that appear randomly through quests and scenarios. Pros and cons to each magic system. Scenarios that adhere to canon. Artwork. And as much extra as we can churn out together. What we will need: Interest; we can't make this unless people actually want to play. Please contact me or simply post here with ideas, questions, suggestions, and anything else related. Game-Masters; People who are quick-witted and enjoy messing with people will probably enjoy this position in the game. You do not need to only GM the games, but having people willing to would be greatly appreciated. Fan-art; The game can still function without art, but where is the fun in that? Feel free to contact me (Discord: ArmyOfHellium) or @Vashakh Sadeas (Discord by same name). Thank you very much, and we will enjoy any interest or worries expressed. Edit: We now have a Discord channel for the yet unnamed Cosmere RPG is up and running: https://discord.gg/qfCHEFf
  6. so from what we can see every time a shard fully settles on a planet they add there magics to that planet but when 2 settle on the same planet or neighboring they can allow their magics to mix creating a third magic meaning the total magics possible if all 16 where to settle on a single planet would be drum roll please.........65535 different magic systems this was calculated assuming that every shard allowed their magics to mix with every other shards effectively doubling the total magic systems for every shard added
  7. So, I was wondering, how would Allomancers and Ferochemists be used in today's society? What would their jobs be? How would the public cope? Would the power go to them, or would they be used as weapons? Or would they be feared? What are your thoughts?
  8. So I was rereading the Mistborn Era 2 books and the end section on metallurgic arts aroused my interests. It seemed like the narrator from the arcanum unbounded novel. He describes things in a way like he’s from other parts of the cosmere and that he’s doing research of some sort. I’m assuming this is Hoid, right? I’m not making a theory, just seeking knowledge.
  9. Let me just start this by saying that there may be spoilers in the following. So I was thinking about the Mistborn video game that was canceled and it got me thinking, what kinds of video games would be the best for the different Cosmere worlds. I was talking with my brother-in-law (also the one who got me hooked on BS) about this and we came up with what we think are some great ideas. Stormlight Archive: Real Time Strategy (RTS), (Starcraft, The original Warcraft, most of the Command and Conquer games.) The Stormlight Archive lends itself to the RTS format very well, with the ability to have many different teams that all play very differently: Alethkar, Parshendi/Listeners, Ghostbloods, The followers of the Diagram, and more. All of these teams would have their heroes, such as Radiants, and Fused. They would also all play very differently, creating very different strategy's and lending themselves to different peoples play styles, for example: The Parshendi could have the ability to change the "forms" of all their units giving them the ability to go from having hundreds of workers to hundreds of soldiers. There would also be the ability to have vastly different maps ranging from the Shattered Plains to the Purelakes. Each of these locations could influence the game in a verity of ways. Mistborn: Third-Person Role Playing Game (RPG), (Assassins Creed, Tomb Raider,) We considered making this an MMO, the problem with this is that there would be far too many mistborns running around. The only way to limit this would be to limit people to mistings, but we felt that would be far less interesting given the universe. So our solution, a story driven RPG. We didn't really talk much about the mechanics of the game or how the ability of the metals would manifest in the game, but we think it's the best fit. Reckoners: Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMO), (World of Warcraft) I know this isn't Cosmere, but It is still a great idea. We were thinking about which of BS series would work the best as an MMO, the problem is that given the way most of his worlds works, there would be way too many magic users around, be they Mistborn, Radiants, or otherwise. Then we though about The Reckoners as an MMO, there wouldn't be hundreds of people with magic or superpowers. In fact the Epics would be perfect for bosses in instances and raids. I'm curious what you all think. What styles of games do you think would fit Cosmere worlds? Any thoughts on my ideas? Let discussion ensue! P.S. Alcatraz is totally an 8-bit Mario style plat-former.
  10. OK. Confession-time. I hated "The Way of Kings" the first time I tried to read it. I got to Kaladin sitting in the cage hating life, and then I took a break. (I was dealing with some depression myself at the time, possibly a connection there?) Anyway, my brother told me to try out Mistborn, as it was somewhat easier to read. That was late summer 2018. By February 2019 I had read through every Cosmere-book I could find, and officially joined the waiting-crew that is the Cosmere-fanbase I myself am a Norwegian, and as a norwegian fan of Brandon, it can be lonely. Norway is not very well known with Brandons works, so it's somewhat difficult being a fan here. Me and my brother, not much else that I know about. My solution was to listen to Shardcast, and jump into the coppermind. My dream is for Brandon to one day come to Norway on a signing because of the sudden huge fanbase that WILL come forth here!
  11. I was wondering if there was a way to summarize the entire Cosmere in one sentence. My favorite that I have heard is "For storm's sake Hoid, what stormery are you up to now."
  12. So I was messing around with a universe simulator called Universe Sandbox 2, and I thought 'Why not try to recreate the Cosmere planetary systems?' So I got out my Arcanum Unbounded, and thus began the long and arduous process of trying to make and arrange the celestial bodies of a wonderful fictional dwarf galaxy. Star Cluster? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I had to get creative about the colors of some of the planets, because the program doesn't actually include a way to change the colors of gas giants, so I had to edit the code of the bodies directly and repeatedly change the RBG values until they looked right. Took a very long time to do this and to position everything the right way, but I'm pretty happy with the way they all turned out. My goal with all of this was to realistically re-create the starcharts, but I also thought that they could make pretty cool backgrounds, so I made a few different versions with the systems and planets in different orientations, and I've included them all here. For each system there is a zoomed-in, zoomed-out, and diagonal line up version of the planets, a 90° angle landscape version, and one where each of the planets are placed around the sun at random points along their orbits (though the Taldain System does not have this last one, for obvious reasons). I think they ended up looking really good, so feel free to use them as backgrounds. So without further ado: [If the images aren't displaying properly then here's the imgur album: https://imgur.com/gallery/ALPA6sC] The Rosharan System [Zoomed In, All] The Rosharan System [Centered] The Rosharan System [Zoomed In] The Rosharan System [Zoomed Out] The Rosharan System [Centered, Angled] The Rosharan System [Diagonal] The Rosharan System [Orbits] The Selish System [Centered] The Selish System [Zoomed In] The Selish System [Zoomed Out] The Selish System [Orbits] The Selish System [Orbits, Zoomed Out] The Selish System [Diagonal] The Drominad System [Centered] The Drominad System [Zoomed In] The Drominad System [Zoomed Out] The Drominad System [Diagonal] The Drominad System [Orbits] The Drominad System [Centered, Angled] The Taldain System [Centered] The Taldain System [Zoomed Out] The Taldain System [Zoomed In] The Taldain System [Diagonal] The Taldain System [Diagonal, Zoomed Out] The Scadrian System [Centered] The Scadrian System [Zoomed In] The Scadrian System [Orbits] The Scadrian System [Zoomed Out] The Scadrian System [Zoomed Out, All] The Scadrian System [Diagonal] The Scadrian System [Centered, Angled] The Threnodite System [Zoomed In] The Threnodite System [Centered] The Threnodite System [Zoomed Out] The Threnodite System [Orbits] The Threnodite System [Diagonal]
  13. So, the determinism vs free will argument is still going strong, so I came up with a question. <see title> IS THERE FREE WILL IN THE COSMERE? So everything has a soul, which is the free will argument, but does the existence of a soul dictate free will if even a rock has free will? Then again, the ability of the Stick to resist Soulcasting again implies free will. Next! Prophecy. Renarin's capability to foresee false events shows that there are false futures, so there are other futures. Of course, this could be him just being wrong about the one, singular future. As of yet, I have not actually determined whether or not there is free will in the Cosmere, so I would love to know what the brightest Cosmerian scholars have to say. Sharders, do your worst. Or best.
  14. Personally, mine are Sadeas, the Lord Ruler, and the Gyorn. On Sadeas: I haven't met a slimier villain yet! Lord Ruler: I like his humanity (in its own twisted way). Gyorn: I like the missionary sort of take, I have yet to read another villain with this sort of forboding religious context.

  17. First post here, been stalking all you geniuses and detective for weeks now, finally i have something small to contribute, so, here i am! A few weeks ago while reading WoR and i saw the word "Aharietiam", which seemed familiar somehow. As i fell asleep i remembered reading that Sanderson confirtmed that Adonalsium is derived from the Hebrew word, Adonai (God). So i opened my book again and reread the word and the context it was in, and realized that "Aharietiam" sounds an awful like "Acharit Hayamim" in Hebrew, (which means "the end of days"). I went ahead and emailed Karen Ahlstrom, and today she confirmed it by adding it to the FAQ - she even suggested i share it with you guys. http://faq.brandonsanderson.com/node/317 in the same response from Brandon, he also said that "Moash is also Moshe, with a letter flip. There are a lot more." I've attached the email if anyone is interested: Hopefully, you found this half as interesting as i did, and if you have similar discoveries like that please share!
  18. The game is pretty simple - Two situations and you got to chose which one do you prefer and why. Answer the question and frame a question of your own. The next person answers and so on Would you rather Find out the story behind how and why Shallan first bonded with Pattern OR see Maya awakened by the end of "War of Rhythm"? (Remember, choosing one means the other one doesn't happen in the book )
  19. Recently I was reading Warbreaker and an interesting though occurred to me. Could Denth be a mistborn (or at least a misting)? He is said to have, and is proven to have almost superhuman speed, much faster then the Returned. He could have burned pewter to make this happen. He also may have been burning brass to get Vivenna to like him, Tonk Fa, and Jewels more than she would normally and keep her placid and unaware of what they were doing to her. If he was a full mistborn he would of likely burned zinc as well when creating 'distractions' in Hallandren, making the Idrians angrier and ready to start war with Hallandren. Denth does say that he came from far away and Vivenna deduced that he seemed not to fit in very well. I think that it may have been possible that when the 5 scholars were forming and there wasn't 5 yet they were traveling via the cognitive realm to Scadrial and picked up Denth there. They then made their way back to Nathalis, gather insane amounts of breath up past the 5th heightening and make Nightblood. Unbeknownst to the rest of the 5, Denth is a mistborn but maybe doesn't know it yet. He may have snapped after Arsteel was killed by Vasher, and then because of his life on Scadrial knows what has happened and starts experimenting and becoming better over hundreds of years. I think this may work. Let me know what you think.
  20. I am not sure if someone has done this previously but I am curious to read people's answers. The scenario is pretty simple - You wake up one day and get to spend 24 hours with any character in the cosmere, you get to ask them whatever you wish to know and the character will answer with respect to the information the character possesses in the books, you get to experience their world for 24 hours and may attempt to pass on information that you possess that may or may not affect the book/series/world's storyline going forward. What would you do? Who would you choose? Why? I am curious to read what you have to say. Guess I have to just... RAFO
  21. What's your favorite Cosmere book/series? Mine is... Series: Mistborn Book: The Final Empire
  22. From the album: Stormlight Archive - fanart

Hehe, I feel like I'm spamming with fanart... Oops, I did it again. I'm getting the hang on drawing digitally, but I still got a lot to learn... I hope you think this SA portrait series is kinda fun, because I'm having a blast.
  23. Stormlys

    Sylphrena

From the album: Stormlight Archive - fanart

My take on Sylphrena (aka little trickster) from the Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson. Instead of adding her to my drawing of Kaladin, I believe Syl deserves her own portrait, thank you very much.
  24. My take on Kaladin Stormblessed from the Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson. This is when Kaladin was enslaved. Not gonna lie, I almost made myself cry by drawing all that rain and remembering… THAT SCENE IN WAY OF KINGS ;( ( I ended up spamming the gallery with empty posts because the file was too big but hopefully it works now, I'm really sorry...)
  25. Sorana

    Detail_1.jpg

    From the album: Cosmere Art

Details of a blanket I quilted for a friend. I embroidered the symbols, the rest you can see in the pictures is a patchwork. The other side of the blanket is made of a simple darker coloured fabric and it's lining is a thick cotton, so it feels good.
