Brandon's holding a contest to design an Alcatraz vs the Evil Librarians-themed T-shirt! Also, the wonderful folks over at Cosmere.es interviewed Brandon's art director Isaac Stewart in the wake of the White Sand omnibus releasing in Spain. But first, a word from Brandon's progress bars: the final draft of The Lost Metal is at 86%. Once this is done, it'll be sent off to the publishers, and will release in the US and UK on November 15th. (Release dates for other regions vary.) Onto the main events... to celebrate Bastille vs the Evil Librarians coming out in the fall, Team Dragonsteel is running a T-shirt design contest! The full details are on Brandon's website, and you really should read the terms there if you plan to participate, but here's a summary: Besides that, Cosmere.es (the Spanish Cosmere fansite) held an interview with Isaac Stewart, Brandon's art director (and mapmaker, alphabet designer, etc—he does a lot), in celebration of the Spanish release of the White Sand omnibus edition in Spain! (Which releases in English in November... it's complicated). The interview is in English, with Spanish subtitles, and you can check it out on their YouTube channel or embedded beow: If you're a Spanish-language speaker, you should definitely check their site out if you haven't already. Lastly, Brandon's apparently an asteroid now! Reddit user Rukongai recently had a chance to name a minor asteroid, and felt a certain SFF author was a prudent choice.

Let's see who can make the morally worst character. Don't go into graphic details, whether in terms of gore or assault etc. Try to make them realistic, and not just someone who mass-murders literally everyone they meet. Use whichever character sheet you want. Go

In There meeting Teravangion warns Odium he must not meet with Dalinar again , or Dalinar would be able to force a battle of champions . In his infinite wisdom when he was hyper smart Me T saw a contingency where no matter what Dalinar wins ! So I want you guys to tell me what that contingency in your mind is ? For example “ There is no way Dalinar looses a contest of champions if :” and tell me your theory . I’ll go first : There is no way Dalinar looses if he orders Szeth to loan him Nightblood . Dalinar then slams his fist together opening Honor perpindicularity and throws a bunch of gems on the ground . He then draws Nightblood and tells whoever Odiums champion is “ go ahead , make my day ! “

So most of you have probably seen that there is a Kickstarter going on for a board game based on Brandon’s Reckoners series. If not, you should check it out. Many of you may not have seen that they are doing a contest to win a free Epic (all the bells and whistles) version of the game along with a signed set of the Reckoners books and copies of the two other games that Nauvoo Games has produced. Most of the things you can do to get entries aren’t too bad as far as these types of contests go- they’re mostly “visit this site” or “watch our livestream video” and there isn’t really an onus to share it with all your friends via social media (though of course you can if you want, like I’m doing right now). But currently if you do all the things in their list it gives you enough entries to have about a 2% chance at winning the grand prize, so hey, that’s not too shabby. And yes, I realize that this is blatant promotion and yes, if you use the link above to enter the contest it gives me 1 bonus entry too, but I figured that there would still be people who are interested who haven’t heard about it yet. I don’t really care about the contest so much as I care about making sure that other interested sharders out there find out about it.

If you haven't heard, the Stormlight Archive subreddit is holding a contest in celebration of the release of Oathbringer! In honor of Dalinar's book, the theme of the contest is UNITE THEM! Anyone is welcome to participate, and there are some fantastic prizes up for grabs. There will be two grand prizes. The first, a numbered first edition hardcover of Oathbringer, will be awarded to the entrant who receives the highest popular vote. These books are only available at the release party and are not easy to come by! It will be signed by Brandon and any other members of Team Dragonsteel who are available. The second grand prize is a print of the cover of Oathbringer signed by Brandon and (potentially) Michael Whelan. The winner of this prize will be selected by the subreddit's moderation team. In addition to the grand prizes, there are a number of other prizes available. Four runners up will receive Stormlight Archive pendants, donated by Bedali Jewelry. Lastly, ten honorable mentions will receive small prizes, such as a Syl sticker or a signed bookplate. So how can you win one of these awesome prizes? Participants may submit any type of creative work that they've made for the purposes of the contest. There are two main rules: you have to explain how your creation exemplifies the theme of the contest (Unite them!), and it has to be related to the Stormlight Archive. This could be anything from Bridge 4 fanart, to a video of a dance you've performed, to a Stormlight-themed computer game. Think out of the box! Look for the "submit your entry" thread on October 1st in /r/Stormlight_Archive. Post your creation there along with an explanation of how it exemplifies the contest theme. You'll need a Reddit account if you don't have one, but they're very easy to set up. To see the full rules or ask any questions, see the contest announcement thread. If you're not interested in making an entry, you are still invited to participate! Look for the entry thread the week of October 1st and vote for your favorite entries. Voting ends on October 7th.

I've decided to run an Aon drawing contest. To enter, simply post a reply containing an image of your hand-drawn Aon. Bonus points will be awarded for combinations of Aons. Chasm lines not required. I'm accepting entries until Tuesday, February 10, so start drawing now, amateur Elantrians! (Also, PM me if you'd like to help judge. Judges cannot enter.)

This is from the part of the prologue (is that how to spell it?) where David ran away only to be spared of Faultline's destructo-whatnots. I don't expect to win, but I said I'd do this so I did. Just paper, pencil, and a little gimp to touch up. Good luck to the winners! I might finish it up (color and stuff) later, but WAY after this contest is over.

Fanart based on the prologue of Steelheart. Done in Photoshop and SAI. In the story, Steelheart bursts into the bank, and starts threatening the other Epic, Deathpoint. I liked the dramatic image presented by Steelheart's statuesque frame intimidating the much-smaller Deathpoint. When the viewpoint character, David, describes Deathpoint's sunglasses clattering to the floor, I knew I wanted to try to capture that tension by framing the image in the reflection of the lenses as they lay in a pile of one of the victim's ashes.
