  1. So....I didn't see any other posts mentioning this, but I found myself thinking about Shallans story/play in Oahbringer, the one with the girl and the wall. We also found out that the humans were actually the Voidbringers and that the original inhabitants, the Dawnsingers, allowed the humans to live in Shinovar, which is completely surrounded by mountains and gets very little Stormlight. I'm thinking the story is actually a true history of when humans first came to Roshar and of the first human to cross over the mountains. Can anyone think of anything to support or deny this theory?
  2. Really? Dalinar hardly needs armor as he showed us in his duel with the Queen of Thaylenahs son. I mean, he took a sword through a lung. It barely missed his heart. And it barely even slowed him down. He kept talking like he wasn't even in pain, though we know he was. Still, 'guarded only by his uniform' hardly does Dalinar Kholin any justice.
  3. I don't necessarily need all the 4th or 5th Oaths now, but it would be nice to have all of the 3rd Oaths by book 4...Honestly I'd like to start an RP site for the KRs, but don't feel I could give it a good start without at least the 3rd Ideals...
  4. Updated Bondsmith Oaths upon learning of a WoB from Hoidonalsium confirming that only a single Oath was spoken at the end of OB.
  5. This saddens me more than it should. I want to know all the oaths. Its my main hunger in this series. That its only 1 and not 3....book 4 better have a ton of new oaths.
  6. Unity is the same as Dominion in the same way that Confidence and Arrogance are the same thing. One is a good trait, the other is not. They are like 2 sides of the same coin.
  7. While reading the Adolin/Maya thread, I had an idea about Dalinar. I know the Stormfather told Dalinar at the end of WoR that he would be a Radiant with no Shards, but I think the Stormfather will change his mind for two different reasons. 1. Dalinar sort of summoned enough of a Blade to operate the Oathgate in order to escape Jah Keved. The Stormfather was upset, but not overly so. 2. Dalinar almost summoned Shardplate in the dream with Venli. 3. When they were speaking of the Heralds and again with the Recreance Radiants, the Stormfather noted that because of their new Bond, he was starting to understand more about humans. So, now that I've established the possibility, let me take it another step up. I think since he is the first to Bond the Stormfather since he became a Splinter of the Almighty, he will have more powerful Shards and have more control of them. Maybe 2 Shardblades. Maybe multiple that he can control with his mind, telepathically slicing opponents from a distance. Shard Arrows! Shard Shields to defend someone he couldn't possibly get to in time. Just a few ideas I had. I think they are possible, perhaps even likely. Enjoy!
  8. I like this thread. It forces me to think. So heres my thoughts. You're right about how well he fits the Stonewards. Its eerie actually. He does possess Edgedancer traits though. 1. When Kaladin challenged Amaram and got himself imprisoned, Adolin set aside his uncertainties about Kaladin and stood up for him because he had actually listened. He knew Kaladin was a troubled, but good guy and still tried to befriend him despite Kals foul moods and his suspicions. 2. His thoughts on Amaram being too perfect fits. He saw through the facade. 3. The fact that he spoke to his sword before he knew it was a spren. The fact that he made the connection in the first place. 4. He listened to his father despite his initial doubts. When he realized that his father was not crazy, when he told his father he believed in him, Dalinar was finally able to do what he needed to do. 5. He figured out that Kaladin killed Shallans brother before she did. 6. His connections with his own, and his fathers Rhyshadium. 7. The darkeyed prostitute. 8. When he read Shallan and knew she liked Kaladin too. 9. When he killed Sadeas. You could say he listened to Sadeas and thats WHY he killed him. Thats all I can think of right now, but I'd like to close with a crazy thought. Could someone belong to more than one Order? Could they be bound by multiple Oaths and draw from up to 4 Surges?
  9. You're right, he is very knowledgeable about warfare, which is very Alethi and makes sense. I guess I let Shallans opinion of him sway me. And don't get me wrong, Adolins one of my favorite characters. I can't wait to see him Bond Maya!
  10. I love the Stormlight archive, I love dragonball and I love this idea! Great comparisons! I totally wanna see SS2 Kaladin!
  11. Well, first of all, the Heralds went to Honor and suggested the Oathpact. This says to me that they knew Honor, and probably spoke to him on more than 1 occasion. I'm guessing they learned a great deal from him.
  12. If there is a war going on inside Adolin's head, then Brandon hasn't done a good job of writing it. That's the problem with Adolin's character: so much could be written for him, so many interesting angles could be broached, but none really are. I wouldn't put pass Brandon to have Adolin say oaths and revive Maya during the time gap. I think maybe Adolin doesn't even know it yet. He's not the brightest and I doubt he completely made the connection until he went to Shadesmar and figured out who Maya was. I expect to see it more clearly in the 4th book.
  13. I think theres a war going on inside Adolin. He wants to be a Radiant, but if he swears the oaths, he might lose his bond with Maya. He's been talking to his sword for years. Its not a Nahel Bond, but still a bond. He knows Radiants can't hold a dead sprens Shardblade. Especially after meeting her. And now she's talking to him? Just her name, but still. Book 4 will find him searching for a way to revive Maya, for certain.
  14. Also added notes on Oath progression and Bondsmith Oaths courtesy of Beatsmorn.
  15. Added a description of Truthwatcher spren I found in my reread of OB.
  16. Brightlord Maelstrom, I updated the list to show that was taken from the Cpt Ico's daughter is Timbre theory.
  17. Its been in the back of my head since I finished OB, but its kind of seeming like book 4 will kind of be the book of the 4th Ideal. Kaladin will probably speak the 4th, Szeth and Lift are due. If the theories are wrong Dalinar would be on his 4th. And Renarin, his Words have been behind the scenes, but he got his Blade in OB, so probably 3rd. We could not only see his 4th as well, but learn more about his hybrid Knight status. Thats perhaps 5 KRs that could speak the 4th Ideal in the 4th book. Coincidence? Maybe. Maybe not. This is BS. Who can know the mind of one such as he?
  18. I meant time for him to train the others. Szeth is already pretty formidable with just Gravitation and Nightblood. I think Division is one of the more powerful Surges though and hes only half as formidable as he will become.
  19. I doubt it. He would give him time to train, as he did Kaladin before sending him to Kholinar, but I think Shinovar is too important for him to miss out on. With a knowledgeable insider like Szeth, who's willing to do it...he might send Kaladin or one of the other KR to keep Szeth in check, but he won't keep Szeth tied down.
  20. I hadn't thought of this. Could be useful, but probably not as useful as you think. First of all, there are 8 Honorblades as Nale took his back. Second, some Surges are easier to practice with that others. I doubt they had much knowledge of the Bondsmith powers, or how to use the Transportation Surge. However, Nale did promise to teach him Division, so...
  21. Yes, I think the Unity thing encompasses a great deal more than we originally though. Alethkar, Roshar, the KR. But after he united the 3 realms, more possibilities opened up. If the Stormfather was a temporary holder of the Shard of Honor, Like Kelsier with Preservation, then Dalinar could very well be primed to become Honor. And he has a strong connection with Cultivation as well. What if he Bonded all 3 Siblings and used them to assume the powers of Cultivation and even Odium. At that point, he would be more powerful than Sazed. And they would be allies I am sure. 5 of the 16 Shards. Dalinar could be meant to reunite Adonalsium...in a different, better form than before probably. Of course, you also have Hoid collecting Investitures from the different Shards. Not sure if they could work together or not.
  22. Alright, first of all, I want it to be at least 1200 pages and be finished in 2 years. But I'll settle for the first 1. Lots of Words. We know what? 10-13 out of 37 Words(Counting the 1st as 1 instead of 10 and not counting truths. Also accounting for theories.)? We need to know the 2nd and 3rd Oaths for all the Orders. And the 4th Windrunner oath 2. Speaking of Windrunners, Kaladin speaking the 4th Oath is only one of the things I want to see from him. I want to see him in glowing blue Shardplate. I want him overcome his dark side completely and embrace a leadership role and create an Order of Windrunners to rival the Skybreakers. I want to see him find Tarah or get some sort of relationship. And I want him to be at peace with who he must fight. 3. Dalinar. I want to see him explore the Bondsmith powers a bit more and I want to learn more about the Stormfather. I want to see him solidify his union of nations and solidify at least 9 of the new Radiant Orders into at least a semblance of the former glory of the Knights Radiant. I doubt the Skybreakers will join right away, except for Szeth. As for Words, I think he's had enough growth for the moment. If the theories are wrong and he only said 1 Oath, I wouldn't mind a 4th, but I don't feel I need it like Kaladins. 4. I think I might need to see Shallans next truth as well. I want to see her Shallan side grow and completely conquer her other sides and make them into 1 person. A better whole. And Adolin needs to Bond Maya. 5. Of course, I want to see Szeth go back to Shinovar. I want to learn about the Stone shamans and the Honorblades and I think they know more about the history of their coming and the Dawnshards and stuff. I want to see Szeth get his revenge. He'll probably get his 4th Oath as well, but I'm ok with delaying it. I want to learn about his spren and his Division Surge. Learning from a Herald has to be awesome right? Also, I want to see him convince Nale to switch sides or at least give the Skybreakers that option. 6. Heralds. Yes, I want to see more Heralds. I suspect that the next book will be divided into 2 parts at least. Shinovar, and Tukar, where Ishar is their God-King. I suspect the book will end with Ishar joining them and bringing several of the remaining Heralds to their cause. We'll probably learn more about Adonalsium from them too. And I hope we learn that Jezriens soul is not completely lost, just trapped in that daggers gem. 7. I want to see Lift master her abilities more. Maybe Szeth, who practiced with the Honorblades could give her a bit of help? And I want to learn more about her encounter with Cultivation/Nightwatcher. 8. I want to see Navani have a breakthrough with fabrial technology and begin mass producing helpful stuff. Like Healing fabrials. And I want to see Jasnah kick chull now that she is the Queen of Alethkar. Of course, she might have to retake Alethkar first... 9. Of course, I want to see Venli join the rest of our KRs. I want to learn more about Voidbinding and Odium and how to stop him. 10. I want to see Taravangian and his traitor Radiant Malata die. He is the new Sadeas, but far, far worse. Not sure if hes playing Odium or not, but I'd rather have him out of the picture. And I was so happy to have a Dustbringer....and so disappointed by the one we got
  23. I think this is an interesting theory. As for Adonalsium being no more, Honor is no more, but the Stormfather persists. Its all about perception and memory. As long as people remember, their will be a spren. On the other hand, there are very few left who remember Adonalsium. The surviving Shards(Sazed, Cultivation, Odium, etc.), the surviving Heralds, Hoid. Maybe a few others. I would say that a spren such as this would be weak and/or sickly. Probably a fractured memory. A spren such as this would probably be a key figure later in the cosmere as people seek to bring Adonalsium back. I doubt we've seen or heard about such a spren yet, but I'd keep my eye out for something of this nature.
  24. I like this idea. He said two in a row the first time. Why not again? And Becoming Unity being the 5th Ideal makes a lot of sense because of the Skybreaker 5th Ideal.
  25. You are correct Treamayne. The truth about killing her mother was spoken at the end of WoR in Urithuru.
