  1. I'd like to point out that it may be that the listeners evolved to utilize stormlight, whereas humans after arriving on Roshar were given access to stormlight later on. So the Listener became effecient with it over time whereas the humans ability never changed.
  2. Well because the method to make the shardplate is very complicated and roshar doesn't have enough of an understanding of the science and mathematics that dictates their world to replicate such devices. Do you think people of our past could replicate a flashlight if you went back in time and gave them one. it would take ages for researchers to develop the theory to understand the physics of why the thing lights, the electrical engineering to design the circuitry, the chemical engineering to make the casing(and probably the IC). Plus before the knight radiants were formed, the desolation's decimated the population, and caused widespread destruction, probably causing a huge loss of scientific progress. this seems consistent with taln's ramblings, where if a society could forget how to forge steel, and didn't have time to learn how(more importantly, create the tools to forge steel), they definitely won't be able to produce shardplate. Also the Radiants seemingly didn't share there research with outsiders, otherwise why didn't we see more hints of technolgy in dalinars vision of the battle with the midnight essence. We saw a fabreial that healed people, yet fire seemed to be the primary tool for cooking and heating.
  3. To be fair, we don't know why surge binding needs stormlight, but using a shardblade doesn't; it doesn't make sense considering that we've seen the spren regularly have trouble affecting the world directly.
  4. I thought it was something similar to a rubix cube.
  5. lol I was thinking the same for different reason. We spend an entire book with Kaladin pining to kill Amaram, if anything Kaladin would totally sympathize with Adolin. Sure Kaladin might not condone Adolins actions, but he's done stupid things on the spur of the moment coughchallengingAmaramcough so it recently won't destroy their burgeoning friendship.
  6. WoB that says we haven't seen any knight radiant wearing shardplate. Words of Radiance says there were only 16 knight radiants in the windrunner order, yet we see more than that discard their shards in Dalinar's vision. This leads me to believe that squires also get shard blades as well as plate.
  7. what you describe is pretty much what fabriels are...
  8. As weird as it sounds, I think killing Sedeas may be him living up to his oath. If a person just claims to try his very hardest to drive people apart, and is a credible enough treat to accomplish it, what would drive them apart more, killing him or not killing him. I have my doubts about the bondsmiths, there are a lot of ways to bring people together that aren't exactly clean or good, such as through manipulation and fear. Ishi himself established the Knights Radiants with the threat of death. The first ideal may brunt some of the choices that have to be made, but it doesn't disallow making the hard-choices. Dalinar has already agreed to Adolin killing Sedeas in a duel. Sure you could say, "but adolin is killing him out in the open and not in the shadows." Does that make his death any better of a choice. The only difference is in the repercussions. Assassins in the night would just spark a war that Dalinar couldn't win for most of WoR, which is why he didn't strike down Sedeas at the end of WoK. By the end of WoR however, things have changed immensely. I really think he'd have gone for it given that there was nobody else and nothing to really link him with the crime(that we know of atleast).
  9. While we bring up Dalinar, what would he have done in that situation? Honestly I think he might have done the same exact thing as his son, and had a good nights rest after.
  10. Still Kaladin is now a light eyes who also killed the assassin in white, that's got to count for something. I think Amaram has hightailed out of Alethekar, so legal prosecution won't happen under alethi law.
  11. Ym being a truthwatcher, would allow him access to the illumination surge, not that he really got to use it. I wonder what happened to his spren.
  12. Renarin joining bridge four was my huge prediction that i made with no casis what so ever, and for it have come through i jumping off walls
  13. We know from Nalan, that as long as the brain isn't damage it's pretty simple to save a person.Plus it's not like you die instantly from a knife to the chest. If she used her last bits of stormlight to heal the most significantly damage portions of her heart, and then elsecall to somewhere safe, It's quite possible for her to survive. This may be a simple answer, but honestly it fits.
  14. Yes, kaladin totally calls him brightlord, princling as a sign of respect. Am I the only one that had a modicrum of respect for adolin at the end of WoK, and expected him and kaladin to have a bro-ship by the end of WoR. I agreed with Shallan, when she pointed out with how much of a Kaladin was being to Adolin. But I do agree with most of what you've said, with a few minor points in the shipping business, mostly about how Shallan is portraying herself as adolins ideal women, and how I believe adolin is falling for her, because she wasn't the typical lighteyed girl. I do believe that Adolin would be perfectly fine with Shallan should she drop her entire mask, and would appreciate her even more. The end result however will still be Shallan ending up with Kaladin, I'll be pleasantly surprised if that doesn't happen, but... Lol I thinks it's really funny how you found Shallan's actions extremely off putting in WoK, by the end of the book I was sure Shallan was high functioning sociopath, that was trying to fool the reader as much as she was trying to fool jasnah, I still believe this to an extent(I know she does have a conscience, but if it came down to it, she'd be as vicious as sedeas).
  15. I want to change this slightly. Everyone assumes Dalinar is the criminal, and the prosecution gets really serious putting dalinar's life on the line. This forces adolin to have a moral quandry of whether to admit his crime or not, ultimately I think he will to save his father and admit guilt, and then Dalinar is forced into the position of having his sons life in his hands. slow down there mate. you're forcing things to go way to quickly. from what I've noticed, sanderson uses part one to set the story. Show what's currently going on, and where the characters are at and Introduce problems for characters; solutions are rarely done here. Kaladin might return to hearthstone by the end of part one, we don't know how long it will take him to get there, he might also take a couple of side trip to warn other places and show proof that the Radiants have returned. When he finally reaches hearthstone, he'll need to convince people of the dangers of the coming storm. Shallan finding answers for unlocking the oathgates would also be really quick, her current predicament with the ghostbloods, and political manuverings in court will be the main focus for her story. We'll also start having flashbacks into Szeth's past, as well as learn what he's doing and what he's planning on doing. I feel like the third book will try and redeem Szeth, so an attack on the stone shamanate would be better sooner than later.
