  1. Granted. But the command was given by me so it doesn't listen to any of your orders. I wish for a wallet that always has 'just enough' cash in it to live a normal ordinary life.
  2. Unless, as the rumours go, he is in fact a machine.
  3. Is it how the character is written that gets you, or is it the personality of those characters that you don't like? I find it a very strange thing to actually want to skip parts of a story just cause you don't like the character. Edit: I understand not wanting to read the short story if it focuses on a character you're not into. That makes more sense.
  4. I find it hard to believe that TLR would have knowledge of a race from Yolen. When Sazed became Harmony it didn't make him instantly Cosmere aware, and TLR only held the power for a short time. It is interesting to think of where he had the idea to turn the Feruchemists into such odd creatures. We might already have info on this, or the mistwriathes might have a similar 'cousin' race on Scadrial that i haven't read about?.
  5. I have seen somewhere here about the idea that Jasnah was constantly healing herself as she was damaged with the knife using Stormlight, which heals body and soul. As a result it could be possible to hemalurgicly spike someone as they constantly heal both the stolen soul aspect and the physical damage. Perhaps she was spiked, but we have no idea what effect this would have on someone with totally different powers to those native to Scadrial.
  6. Good spot, but I think IntentAwesome has hit the nail on the head. Likewise, if there was ever a time to not be reducing your eyesight, it'll be in surgery. And Kaladin's father seems to be a caring chap.
  7. This may have been covered. But I don't have time to read this entire thread and I want to post this before I forget. Sorry if it has been said. I think it is a very interesting choice of the word "hold" when referring to the secret, rather than the more commonly used 'keep' in this context. It strikes me as a very similar odd wording such as the clue at the start of FE: So it does seem that a physical object could be implied here. Sorry for this terrible post. I will edit it to flesh it out more when i have time later. Just didn't want to forget.
  8. And the inevitable looming weight of truly 'knowing' nothing that comes soon after. :-)
  9. As much as we all love Hoid Kaellok, I feel that this version of the lord ruler would just tip the scale the other way. We do have WoB that Hoid's head would regrow if it was lopped off though, so perhaps the battle between the two would end up as some sort of eternal fight to the never-death.
  10. A good point well made Darkarma, but I feel that the fact that Jasnah could make a bad tasting jam due to her lack of knowledge of soulcasting jam is not the same as not being able to make other biological things. She still soulcast jam, just it tasted bad. To me this means that when soulcasting meat you can make any type you want. You'd just have to have experience in making the type you would like. Perhaps soulcasting ardents have to eat their own produce when learning in a similar manner to the japanese chef that makes that super poisonous fish edible (can't remember the name of the fish). If they get it wrong, bam they've eaten human flesh. Edit: I forgot to add that the simplistic nature of the warcamps structures are due to efficiency not the simplistic nature of soulcasters.
  11. I think with your wording on this one she would make you already super fat so you then have the ability to eat whatever you want without getting fat.
  12. I think the mental problems are irrelevant/symptomatic rather than the key aspect. I like the idea of extreme circumstances 'breaking' the soul, similar to breaking in Mistborn, and those who survive them being beacons to the spren. Not all people who have gone through horrific things attract spren because they also need to live by the 'code' of the spren they attract. Those who have not been broken but live by said 'code' don't have the blazing soul that the others have and so don't attract the spren either. I couldn't think of the right words for what happens to the soul, but i can imagine these events do something to the representation of humans in the cognitive realm?
  13. From the beginning it didn't sit right with me that Jasnah had died. There was a line in her 'death' scene (goes to get book, spends ten minutes searching because he started rereading again and had to remind himself he's writing a comment) that reads, "Shallan heard it hit the wood of the floor beneath the body." This is just before Shallan screams and distracts one of them. To me it just seemed odd to describe the sound of the knife hitting the wood. Also following this she is gone. It didn't feel right. Anyway, waffle ended. I also guessed, or I should more say really storming hoped Kaladin would get a shardspear. I forgot that Nightblood was going to turn up somewhere, and was VERY glad I forgot because it was an awesome 'well that makes being a super Cosmere fan worthwhile' moment. I also had always thought Renarin was going to be a Radiant. Epilepsy is thought to be the sacred illness.
  14. Vibronicgoose fat also makes a good roast excellent I have heard. Thanks for the sympathy and like you say hopefully my sanity will be saved sundered by the discussions on here. Edit: Only just realised your name is Quiver and got the reference. Good start eh!
  15. Hello to everyone. I have been a very long time lurker and have decided to finally get involved. I have read the majority of Brandon's stuff; Elantris (currently rereading), the Mistborns, WoK, Warbreaker. I haven't yet gotten around to the books outside the cosmere (other than Infinity Blade and the WoT books, which in fact forced me to discover Brandon) but in light of WoR coming out in less than a month and all of my friends getting bored of being the sounding boards of my theories, none of them will ( i have tried to get them to) or have read any Brandon Sanderson... it is a very one sided conversation. My name is Doug, but microsoft once suggested VibronicGoose as an xbox handle and the name has stuck since as my username, I think it sounds funny. So again, hello.
