  1. Question for everyone: do we think the Shards previously composing Adonalsium would also be opposed by this "opposing force" that failed to "destroy" it? If so, is it still out there and does Odium have some competition out there in trying to destroy what's left? Or, do we think it wouldn't really care about the components...like some force being opposed to pizza and plotting to destroy pizza, but not really giving a hoot about sauce or dough or your selection of toppings? Thoughts or gleamings from those more versed in the WoB?
  2. If I recall, TLR kept the sDNA of the southern people of Scadrial free from allomantic and feruchemical abilities, like an experimental control. Which makes me wonder how they would have seen any of the Metallic Arts manifest? It seems reasonable that, in order to develop something, especially something mechanical, like a mechanical way to utilize Investure, observation or some knowledge of its existence would be a prerequisite. One possibility could be that somehow, someway, someone intentionally or unintentionally demonstrated allomantic, ferchemical, an/or hemelurgical abilities to them. Well, who do we know that has this knowledge and seems to be involved, usually in subtle ways, with providing knowledge to key people at key points? Granted, that knowledge is not necessarily something that the people even realize is important at the time given, but we the passive viewers of the Cosmere do. It’s known that we’ll eventually get Mistborn: A Cosmerian Odyssey ® with FTL travel. And, many of the theories seem to involve some sort of use of the mechanical access to the Metallic Arts. This FTL and spaceflight seems to be critical to the final phase of the Mistborn story as well as the Cosmere as a whole. Additionally, we know of someone who’s essentially immortal, has lerasium, likely feruchemistry, and can worldhop. I theorize (with no evidence to site whatsoever J) that our ol’ buddy Hoid provided the seed to the southern Scadrial to develop the “more mechanical” way of using the Metallic Arts, whatever that ends up being. I would presume that he did this so that the people of Scadrial would have FTL/spaceflight by the time his final plan, whatever it is, comes together, and well, because he’s Hoid. First theory post, but there’s no need to be gentle; please rip apart if there’s something I way off on here. Haven’t come across any speculation on how the mechanical Metallic Arts developed while spending (way too much) time here at the 17th Shard, so figured I throw this out there. EDIT: Thanks Voidus and Unhinged for corrections & input there. So, it looks like the folks of Southern Scadrial were the same as pre-TLR Scadrials from the North: some Mistings popping up here and here, little to no Mistborn, and likely some more developed level of Feruchemistry since it was more prevalent in the population pre-TLR. This does weaken the "theory" quite a bit , but I'm of the opinion that Hoid's influence in development of Mechanic Metallic Arts is still an interesting suggestion, still has no real evidence to support it, and is still in the realm of the Hoidish
  3. Mostly conjecture here, but I got the feeling from the way the Thrill is discussed, that its been a common and widely experienced, if not discussed part of the Alethi culture for a while since its seems to be accepted as normal. If that's the case, then it would appear that at least some of the Unmade are around between Desolations. I wonder what kind of hijinks (other than the Thrill and death rattles) they are responsible for/involved with? Perhaps they're part of the reason the stay-at-home Heralds are corrupted?
  4. We will ever experience, in real-time, a shard being shattered? I'm thinking that with what, 13 that we know of that are left, there seems to be an opportunity to show us this an event like this which has had such deep impact to the cosmere? And, how awesome would that be if it came from the POV of a the shardholder! Hopefully this is general enough to not be RAFO-bait, but i'd understand it if were. I did a search for this within this topic abd I couldn't find where this was already asked, so apologies if its a repeat,
  5. Pretty sure the Unmade are around at least in some form between Desolations since Mr. T and the Diagram have connected the presence of the Thrill with the Unmade (or at least they believe so) and are using presence of the Thrill to track (what they think) is an Unmade. Do we know why it is they think that? Likely part the Super T's revelation day, but not sure if that's been explicitly stated? I too would love a see a conversation between Dalinar and Jasnah! Hopeful for it in SA3!
  6. I seem to remember another WoB out there about Odium being not being about to leave the Roshar system because he was too "Invested" and leaving would weaken him or something... I need a WoB genie or something, i can never seem to find them when I look for them...can anybody confrim this?
  7. Since there seems to be differences in the way the Parshendi and humans see spren manifest in the Physical, so I wonder if Eshonai, or Parshendi shardbearers before her, had a different experience with their shardblades compared to humans? Random musing...probably nothing there. Would be curious if/when Eshonai becomes radiant, if the the shardblade will scream when touched like with Kaladin and Renerin...?
  8. Very interesting thought Outis, and it was just added to my list of things that I'd like the cross-overs to touch on! The Cognitive Realm has some correlation to physical geography, so perhaps its a proximity thing, as in your spiritweb will fill that element in with whichever shardworld is closest? Or, perhaps in the situation you describe, the person conceived in the Cognitive Realm would have a variable in that part of their spiritweb, allowing them to flex to whichever shard they are nearest to. Your question leads me to think of another similar question...as we know, we'll get FTL space travel before the end, what about those born born in the Physical Realm but in interplanetary space between Shardworlds? Tangentially, what about sDNA mixing between folks from different Shardworlds (sorry if that's covered in other threads, cursory search didn't find anything). Guess it could be as complex or simple as the gene-mixing that happens in "our realm" giving a simple dominant/recessive trait or very complex results. Too many cool Cosmerian magic mixings to consider if its complex (but i think that is another thread ) Looking forward to what others think of this...
  9. IIRC, didn't Shallan say something about wanting to categorize all the Alethi shards? (Sorry for lack of reference, don't have my copy with me). Seems to me it was just an excuse for some of her antics, but i wonder if this could lead to more in-world realization of the amount of missing shards unaccounted for? On a related note, if Naln's been tracking down surgebinders as well as collecting "mostly dead" shardblades, how many of those surgebinders had oath-ed enough to have "new" live-spren shardblades that he could collect as well?
  10. Just a random thought from reading below the EDIT of the original post...Since kandra can gain allomantic and/or feruchemical abilities via hemalurgy, how do their bind points work? When they change forms (animal-human-animal), do they retain this abilities? Can they do their body-altering to move the location of the spike do different bind points and thus alter their abilities? Can't recall if there's any details from HoA (currently re-reading) or any WoB addressing rules for bind points? On another note...this is/was my first post. Been lurking on the site for a while, enjoying the forums and theories and want to say thank you to the community for being so creative/active/humorous/welcoming/entertaining/and lots more -ings.
