  1. Shardplate protected Adolin against the stormform's lightning attacks, so I believe we've already seen this in action
  2. The ultimate goal of the Diagram is that Taravangian becomes King. Of Everything. ( ) Its hard to do that without Elhokar dead.
  3. Here's my opinion based on one and a half reads of the book I think the oaths are specific to the individuals. I believe every oath is related to the nature of the "broken soul" each radiant has. Since the oaths are focused on the individual, so long as the individual chooses to abide by their words the Stormfather must accept them.
  4. Remember that the guards are all darkeyed and Wit is a high ranking lighteyed. He could likely do almost anything there and get away with it.
  5. Here's some things I'm curious about: Spren bonding: - Are Highspren the bonding spren for Skybreakers (I suspect the answer is yes) - Is it possible for someone to bond with the Nightwatcher? If yes, has it been done before? (Possible alternate Bondsmith spren, RAFO bait) - Is it possible for someone to bond with Cusicesh the Protector? If yes, has it been done before? (Possible alternate Bondsmith spren, RAFO bait) Shardpools: - Is one or both of Honour and Cultivation's shardpools in the Horneater Peaks? (Suspect reference to "life-giving lakes") Jokes: - When Kaladin was fighting Szeth, Syl turned into a hammer to bash Szeth instead of just cutting him apart. Does this mean Syl is sadistic and wants Szeth to last longer so Kaladin can beat him up more?
  6. One hint I picked up was the ardent working in Taravangian's hospital.
  7. It seemed very similar to what Shallan did after her shipwreck, how she was able to "peek" into Shadesmar without going there physically, at least until she lost her balance on the boundary. It's worth noting that this is probably what Jasnah was doing in WoK when she pulled Shallan out of Shadesmar near the end of the book.
  8. Sorry, I wasn't really clear before. I agree that the listeners can't bond the radiant-class of spren. I was thinking of gloryspren, or lifespren, or windspren; spren that are probably honour- or cultivation-based but not sentient.
  9. I disagree. Kaladin's description here is very specific: "a distant sky with a sun enclosed, almost as if by a corridor of clouds" At this point Kaladin is standing at the bottom of the chasms. I doubt he could see much of the sky at all, let alone a sun and a corridor of clouds. On the flip side, every description of Shadesmar we have involves a distant sun and the same corridor of clouds. I'm certain that he saw, just briefly, into the cognitive realm.
  10. My expectation is that Rlain will help save some of the listeners, and keep their culture alive. I believe that the group of Parshendi that fled from Eshonai's roundup will prove critical at some point. I also believe that there are Honour- and Cultivation-granted forms similar to the (almost certainly) Odium-granted Stormform, Smokeform, etc.
  11. I think I'd prefer to remove this thought from my head.... thanks e/ also I can't stop laughing as I think of more ridiculous things. Elhokar's throne soulcast from dung!
  12. I suppose he could be a strange hermit with an Honorblade
  13. The man arriving at the gates of Kholinar has a few things going for him: 1) He has sticks and leaves in his beard. The only place there are sticks and leaves on Roshar is in Shinovar, and that is a long long way from Alethkar. It is unlikely someone would carry these from Shinovar, put them in their beard, and then cut down a door. It doesn't make sense. The best explanation is that he "appeared" there, from some sort of Surgebinding. 2) His Blade does not disappear when he goes unconscious. All Shardblades we've seen disappear when their holder loses control of it. The man's Blade does not, implying that it is a different kind of Blade. We have WoB that there are 3 kinds of Blades, and we know from the Prelude that Honorblades exhibit this behaviour. We can assume that the Blade the man carries is therefor an Honorblade, with the chance that it could be the third, unknown, kind of blade. 3) He appears to be covered in condensation, similar to a Shardblade that has just been summoned. It is likely he has appeared via similar means to Shardblade transportation, and something special is going on with him. 4) His eyes are dark even when carrying his Blade. It is said (although not proven) that Shardblades change the eyecolour of their weilders to a light colour regardless of what they started as. As this has not been seen occurring in the text it may be incorrect, but is still suggestive that this Blade is different from a typical Shardblade. The conclusions I draw from this are as follows. The man at the gates: - Is carrying a Blade that is not a normal Shardblade - Did not arrive by normal means (aka walking), and instead transported from between Realms or using a Surge I strongly suspect he's who he says he is. However, if he's not, he's still someone pretty special.
