  1. I've been a little confused as well. I probably rushed through the book too quickly. So the fused are the cognitive shadows of really old dead parshmen and women from, I assume, either when humans first arrived or when they started taking over. So are the gold voidspren the ancient listeners too? If not who/what are they? Why do they look like the shin?
  2. Hi all, I apologise if this is in another thread but if it is my 'extreme' technological skills have been unable to locate it. So I don't know if I'm missing something from oathbringer but it seems to brush over Kaladin and Jasnah's first meeting. They both arrive in Urithiru at the same time and Jasnah references meeting the windrunner (Kal) and seems to like his challenges from the meeting that followed about the parshmen. Why do you think this is? Was it just not not important? I think this is unlikely as it's two of the most important characters meeting for the first time. Do you guys think this will be explored in a future book? Possible start of a Kaladin/Jasnah romance? Jasnah did seem pretty annoyed with Shallan about her sketches of Kal. Maybe it has something to do with this rather than just the whole indiscretion thing on Shallans part and I know there's a lot of Kaladin/Jasnah shippers out there;)
  3. With Jasnah seen to be helping in the fight against what can be assumed to be a Thunderclast in the background (seriously check it out its awesome....squeals in delight) I think its safe to say that all knights radiant could fight them. And yeah, I agree on the Radiant being a Releaser
  4. Also with Kaladin returning home and then with him likely to be POV character to see what's going on in Kholinar and Alethcar on the ground level, so it's unlikely that the Kaladin/Shallan relationship will have any time to develop in at least a large(-ish?) portion of Oathbringer. We're more likely to see the development and/or decline of the Adolin/Shallan relationship. I don't know about the dual identities, what reason would Shallan have to fool Kaladin as Veil? And I/m pretty sure Kal would figure it out prety quickly because of Syl recognising Patttern and Lightweaving (can she detect other spren's magic....can't remember now) I would like to see how Dalinar and Navini would react to Adolin and Shallan ending things, imagine the awkwardness at the next radiant meeting
  5. In terms of the Kaladin/Shallan romance I would much rather there be a moment where they acknowledge each others feelings before choosing to be with other people. I prefer a parallel with the Gavilar/Dalinar/Navani triangle and Adolin/Kaladin/Shallan where if Kaladin and Shallan do end up together it is in the second set of 5 books after the time skip (if they are still alive). I think the Adolin/Kaladin relationship is developing like squabbling brothers so Kaladin would fit into this where others have thought that Renarin would have filled Dalinar's part. What do you guys think?
  6. Sort of as it made the Parshendi act more desperate and end the peace talks. However I think the Everstorm was goin to come anyway thanks to Venli. Will be interesting to see where Venli and Eshonai are next book.
  7. I was reading through some theories and came across the one that Jezrien is the drunkard at the feast when Gavilar is assassinated. If this is the case and he is still in Kholinar during the riots and we know that Kaladin will be heading there next book after Hearthstone and attempt to help. What do you think the chances are that they will come across each other whilst Kal is trying to protect and lead the people. Perhaps seeing Kal & Syl surgebinding and living by his ideals will help him find some sort of mental stability. Plus with Kal now having Jezrien's Honourblade it could have a marked difference. If Jezrie comes round in some way the perhaps he can unlock the oathgate to Urithiru and save Kholinar from the Everstorm. Picture that--Kal comes back to Urithiru with a city and the King of Heralds, scratching his head saying "It could've gone worse" Your thoughts and hole poking sticks (Shallan will never be able to change the hole poking sticks)
  8. The way the story is going Shalladin is looking more and more likely so Laral will probably be used as a plot device to show Kaladin how much he cares for Shallan even though he belives he can never e with her because of Adolin. By this point Shallan would have broken it off with Adolin (see the well reasoned arguments on th Shalladin thread's) and more agst will ensue. Kal's parents will probably be happy-resentful-then happy again after explanation and showing of slave brands, eyes, blade/syl. A conversation between Kal/Lirin/Hesina/Syl would be priceless, especially the quips from Hesina/Kal/Syl
  9. No, this is just Wit replying to Jasnah saying "Tell me what you know Wit" and him saying that it is a thing that he knows (him being snarky), I thought it was a reference to Dragonsteel.
  10. In the Words of Radiance Epilogue Hoid says that he spent 6 months in a stomach being digested. I really hope this mean that at some point during Dragonsteel he gets swallowed by a Dragon, maybe even the recipient of the letter. Your thoughts on this.
  11. I haven't seen this on another post yet but if it is can someone please put a link in here somewhere. Right so I realise that Taln's state is most likely caused by the millenia of torture in taking the burden of ten to himself he seemed somewhat functional when he was in Kholinar. Fast forward to him being in Dalinar's camp he is a mess only showing some form of sanity when around magic. Now if you believe in the theory that Hoid now holds Taln's Honourblade (as the blade that Dalinar took was not an Honourblade due to the screaming spren and change of shape) the the change in Taln's state could be because of that. The only Herald we know to be operating as his normal self is Nalan (darkness) but he has his blade. Shallash is going around destroying art of herself (completely reasonable or not?). I also remember someone saying to Darkness that they weren't supposed to get worse and that that creature has his lord's blade. I assume that Szeth had Jezrien's blade as he was using the windrunner abilities. I think the other man is a probable Herald and is still serving Jezrien (from a comment made by Darkness in Link's interlude he has gone mad/vegatable/something) and that being without his blade has made him worse. I know that the Heralds are all operating under various levels of sanity (I'm sure that came from a WoB but I could be mistaken), but does anyone know if being without their Honourblades makes them worse? Your thoughts, and please feel free to poke holes or add anything if it occurs to you.
  12. YES!!!! I'm sure that at some point Zahel will train her to use Pattern but her abilities will be manly focused on subterfuge and scholarship whilst trying to learn soulcasting.....I am a Stick. Shallan as Hoid's apprentice would give us valuable insight and possibly another crossover character to look out for is future cosmere books. Also really want a Hoid/Sigzil interaction or maybe Shallan speaking to Sigzil about Hoid.
