  1. In case anyone's interested, I thought I'd share some of my favorite writing music. I've tried many things over the years, and sometimes they work, but most of them end up as a distraction one way or another. Not this stuff. I put this stuff on and I can write for hours. Not that I've done any such thing lately but y'know

  2. I find that using fountain pens forces me to be more mindful of how I'm writing--it slows me down enough that I can be more consistent. Just pay attention to the way you form letters, and over time you'll improve. (See also Kas and Coolmint's advice.) Honestly, same? My handwriting is probably more suited to medium nibs but I can't stay away from the fines. Glad to hear it!
  3. Alas, I only mentioned wanting to get it fixed. The only thing stopping me at this point is the hassle of shipping and the distance of pen shows. I've always wanted to try a UEF nib, but I don't think I'd ever want to own one. My fine nib is just perfect; I can't imagine going smaller. Because it's so scratchy? How soft is the nib actually, or does it not matter since you're writing so lightly anyways?
  4. I do, but the nib is borked, remember?
  5. One day I'll really know what people mean by this
  6. Found this on r/fountainpens a little while back:
  7. You know that one super melancholy love song by Passenger? No, not that one, the other one. (10¢, etc. etc.) I just heard it for the first time the other day, and despite it being depressing as all get out, I quickly fell in love with it.

The pen is an Opus 88 Omar and the ink is Sailor Utah.

Also, here's a really good remix.

It is, isn't it? It's huge, too. One of the biggest ones I own. And, thank you! It's a little inconsistent sometimes, but I'm happy with how it's turned out over the years.

  8. Happy birthday! :D

  9. I just discovered that Kiribati is pronounced "Kiribass" and now I'm annoyed. (Even the dictionary got it wrong, which is just wild.)

  10. Only recently did I learn that BYU Men's Chorus has a recording of Nephi's Psalm set to Finlandia (which you may know as "Be Still, My Soul"). It's called "I Love the Lord" and I may or may not have sobbed like a baby the first time I heard it.

  12. I'm reminded of Elder Daines' excellent talk from this last conference, called "Sir, We Would Like to See Jesus". Specifically, this line:
  13. Yesterday I stayed in bed with fever and aches, after not being able to sleep well at all. Last night, I got more sleep, and I don't hurt quite as much, but my fever went up somehow?? Y'all, being sick sucks. I don't recommend it. Anyways, in lieu of hugs, I could do with some thoughts and prayers.

  15. I'm sorry??!!?! How did I not know this???

  16. Oh gosh. Waffles, maybe? But sausage is really good too...
  17. Sorry I've taken so long to respond! Honestly, I've been trying to think of an answer that isn't just "Uh...because I do?" My first Sanderson was Alcatraz vs the Evil Librarians when I was, what, ten years old? Li'l gremlin me loved their rather unique sense of humor--I was (and am) a simple man. Given that I was already an avid reader, it was only natural that as I got older, I got my hands on his other books. I've always loved fantasy, so Brandon's best-in-class worldbuilding pulled me in, and his character work kept me there. Once I finished The Hero of Ages, I was in for life.
  18. A beautiful oceanside view, 10 points. Red hair modifier +1000. Final score: 1010/10
  19. Ooh, that sounds lovely. I just took a look and that shape of pen is one of my favorites. Enjoy!
  20. It's funny--the first place I checked was the Gentleman Stationer's store, as his review helped convince me to try it, but then I checked JetPens where it was literally half the price. So, that was a no-brainer at least. (I'd like to get some in a notebook someday, but that is more expensive than a pad and I have plenty other notebooks to use first. ) I mostly tried it 'cause I needed a Pilot G2-size refill for another pen, but didn't want to use the actual G2. I'd heard good things about the Juice Up, and it had been a while since I tried an ultra-fine gel pen.
  21. I can see the stained glass from the outside and on that basis alone, I think it's one of the prettiest temples. (Saratoga Springs is also up there.)
