  1. Hey! A Kiwi! I went to Wellington last year and fell in love with it. I've been living in the San Francisco area for a long time and Wellington really reminded me of home... I cannot wait to go back. What part are you in? Lots of writing starts out as fan fiction! That's how I got into writing and now it's just about all I do. Haha. (writing, not fanfiction, I mean) Anyway! Welcome to the forum!
  2. Welcome to the forum! I am in the same mode as you right now! Trying to read more Sanderson books. I'm in the middle of the second Mistborn trilogy, and I just finished Elantris. I really love your drawing of Raoden!
  3. I don't tend to share many of the awesome things on the Internet. I find that I celebrate them in person and rant about the bad on the Internet. I also realize that it might seem like I complain a lot because of this. Right now there's a lot of really cool things happening in my life. -I am preparing a move across the country, where I'm stopping on the way to see some of my really food friends. We are driving. -I am starting school in the fall after taking 7 years off after high school. -I get to get out of a terrible dead end job with a lot of technologically inept people. I start my trip across the country on Friday evening! I can hardly contain myself I'm getting very very very excited.
  4. I'm pretty addicted to the mobile site too. So pretty. Also don't sleep. Stay up. Be crazy.
  5. I'm not sure if any of you have seen anything he's been in, but Kelsier has always looked like Paul Bettany in my head. I'm not saying I'm not a fangirl of Fillion, because believe me, I love me some Mal. But... Fillion feels too broad to me. Bettany is just who I see in my head as playing him. (He was Dustfinger in Inkheart, the Albino in the Da Vinci Code, the main angel guy in Legion, and he was in a Knights Tale [where he ran around naked for the beginning of the film]) Edit: I also like the idea of Eccleston as Kelsier. AND Straff Venture OR TLR: Ralph Fiennes. (Voldemort.)
  6. Finally making a real effort to read Way of Kings. In Chapter 3. It took a long time to get through the prologue. I have discovered I'm not fond of Szeth...

  7. Although I am not going to listen to it yet (I haven't read Elantris, and I'd like my ears spoiler-free) I will be doing so when I have completed it. <3
  8. Hm. I think it was probably from joining MBI, and then talking to Kchan and Chaos on skype. I think they're also the ones who had me join 17thshard, or at least the ones who started getting me active on it. lol. So Thank you, Kchan/Chaos.
  9. I can't believe I've never seen this topic lol. Okay, I was walking through Borders, and one of the associates saw me looking at the sci-fi/fantasy books. He decided to talk to me, the way they do... and he asked if I saw Mistborn. I had to ask him what he said about 300 times before he just grabbed the book and showed it to me lol. He explained tat it was a great story, so I read the back of the book. I bought it, with no idea if I'd like it, but I started it when I got home and then went back the next day for parts 2 and 3. I couldn't put Mistborn down, and my mom was dying to read it. Now, it's my favorite book, Thank you Borders associate, whoever you are.
  10. I was the same way. This was a great book. I couldn't stop reading it... and I really enjoyed the way he tied everything up in a neat little bow at the end, and made all of the pieces fit. Although a couple of the reveals I already knew (See: Vanek) but I was disappointed in knowing. I was happy that I figured something out for certain! It was great. :3 This is actually the first Dan Wells book I've read, but now I'm going to run and read the rest of them.
  11. I was reading the back cover of Revelation Space and it said it was his debut book... but I dunno. I'll look into that XD
  12. Yeah, I really really want to be able to read it. I think I just need to start over. Maybe it's just the beginning of the book that seems very convoluted and I can't really figure out what's going on lol. I'm definitely going to try really hard to get through. I've heard it was great!
  13. Oh man, I'm in the middle of a hundred books. Okay It's probably more like 20-ish. I'm reading the Dragonlance books from start to finish (only the ones by Weis and Hickman. Their characters are just so intriguing. I love them so much.) I am currently rereading the first in that series. I am reading "Forgotten History" It's a Star Trek book. I have Redshirts by Scalzi waiting in the queue. I am getting through Way of Kings, slowly but surely. I'm still not done with "On a Pale Horse" by Piers Anthony, but I want to finish that one, soon... And I'm rereading the hobbit, so it will be fresh in my mind when the movie comes out. I am also in the middle of Feed by Mira Brooks (it's a zombie book about these bloggers who are living through the zombie apocalypse~) and then I've sort of hit a road block on a book by Alistair Reynolds called Revelation Space (I think) And last, but not least, I'm reading House of Many Ways, and Castle in the Air by Dianna Wynne Jones. What can I say? I'm a multi-tasking reader. I can never decide what I want to read on any given day, so I just bring them all with me. >>
  14. Yeah, there are definitely a lot of girls. I actually know that most of the people I interact with on a lot of the forums I frequent are female. I know I'm mostly a lurker, but also female here, but I'm with Borb, I have never felt the need to check on others' genders.
  15. Took the words right out of my mouth, Chaos
  16. It was so hard for me to decide. I picked the modern mistborn trilogy, but I really want both of those ones. Mostly just because I'm so obsessed with Mistborn. haha
  17. Moru

    Vin

I really love this picture. Kchan showed it to me yesterday, and I think it fits Vin very well. I think what really attracts me to the picture, as odd as this sounds... xD are her eyebrows and eyes. I also actually really like the mistcloak, and how it sort of...disappears into the background. :3 Good work! I look forward to seeing more! (Ya know, if ya draw more... XD)
  18. I definitely used a fake one to vote. haha. =) but I voted for you !
  19. It had mine right! but that's probably because I spend hours looking at DIY projects and crochet patterns... and shop for women's clothing. >>
  20. XD It thinks I'm an 18-24 year old female, which is correct. Arts & Entertainment - TV & Video - TV Shows & Programs - TV Sci-Fi & Fantasy Shows Books & Literature - Writers Resources Computers & Electronics - Software - Multimedia Software - Desktop Publishing - Fonts Games - Roleplaying Games Hobbies & Leisure - Crafts Hobbies & Leisure - Crafts - Fiber & Textile Arts Online Communities - Forum & Chat Providers Shopping - Apparel Those are actually all correct. There was one more that I took off of there the other day that was "Sports -- American Football." I have no idea how that would have gotten on there... because Football is probably my least favorite sport... and I don't like sports to begin with. XD
  21. Well, I am mostly good at fixing codes, rather than writing them. I am familiar with standard javascript (something that I want to get better at. Practice be damned. XD) So I may come with questions at the ready. Thanks for the welcome ! ^-^ I'm pretty much into designing. I like the coding aspect, making the design look the way I want it to... but yeah. I'm pretty much fluent in HMTL and CSS... but beyond that I'm only a beginner. Javascript is easy for me to fix if I need to, but to write it, I wouldn't know the end of the code from the beginning at this point. I'm learning slowly, but in managing sites and working almost 40 hours a week, that process has been slowed tremendously. and... I don't have a github account. I ... don't know what that is. XD I don't know where I'm going to end up going. I have my doubts about becoming a costumer, as well. My sewing machine is out to get me, I swear. XD I get frustrated really easily. I'm trying to get better about it, but eh. At this point I may just major in english and start writing books. XD I still have a few years before I can even really ...feasibly manage work and school. Plus I would need financial aid to go, and I can't apply for it. (Whole big parental kinda thing. Even though I pay my own bills, and have no help from them, the fact that I'm 20 means that I'm a 'dependent.' and I have to wait until I'm 24.)
  22. These are really awesome I was thinking about doing that with an old textbook... I should see if I can find some fun words in it to make a sentence necklace. XD It's like... fridge magnet poetry... with beads!
  23. Hmm. My first line from Archer To Ziggurat was kind of boring I think. I'm currently working on a rewrite of most of it though. :3
  24. Mine is pretty easy, I think. I guess I'd write it phonetically like this: "Moe-roo" Sometimes I like it "Moroo" Kind of like in "fawn" or "dawn" Mawroo. Either way you pronounce it, it'd be right. ^^ Since I switch back and forth. XD
  25. That is seriously ... so awesome. xD I can't even describe to you the amount of awesome that is. XD
