I tend to dabble in sci-fi and fantasy for short stories but my novel projects have been detective stores. For NaNo this year I’m going to try a hard boiled detective in a fantasy setting and see how that goes. My pitch is basically what if Robert B Parker wrote Wheel of Time

I think about this pretty often and it can be a good way to generate story ideas. Just thinking of a fairly normal, mundane job and how that would work in a fantasy setting. I once started writing a short story about a mailman in a fantasy setting and it was a pretty fun story I still plan on finishing some day. I liked the idea of someone just trying to deliver a package while the equivalent of the War of the Ring raged on around them.

I'm a sucker for fake internet points so I like the badges and tracking system built in to NaNoWriMo.org haha If it makes you feel better, I just landed on my story idea yesterday so I haven't outlined anything at all yet. Usually I forgot about NaNoWriMo until November actually starts so the fact I remembered with over a week to spare makes me feel like I'm super ahead.

Good Omens is one of my top ten favorite books of all time and it's always where I tell people to start with either Pratchett of Gaiman. For me it's one of those books that's so good it almost makes me angry because I wish I wrote it!

Hello! It’s been a while since I’ve been a part of any forum (I used to be in some Wheel of Time role playing forums like 10 years ago) but I’m looking for some place less toxic than Twitter, Facebook, or Reddit to spend my internet time. I’m definitely interested in picking up role playing again but the Mistborn campaign here seems a little intimidating. So if anyone has some low key RPing or even just give me a good place to dive into the Mistborn campaign that would be great!
