  1. Double above. Dalinar is one of my favorite characters. Plus it held my attention throughout, a very difficult thing to do in that long of a book.
  2. Looking for some beta readers on a short story. Story is about 9.5k words. I guess I would categorize it as a horror/fantasy Basic Summary (made on the fly) Victoria goes back to her childhood home to retrieve the last thing she needs to get into University, her birth certificate. Little does she know that in doing so she will be forced to relive her past and awaken not only the house, but the beasts that live within it. Or is it she who is being awaken for the first time? Please let me know if you would like to help. Right now it's still in its early stages so I'm not looking for a big emphasis on spelling and grammar (Lord knows I'm horrid at both). Looking more for continuity, tone, plot, overall flow and character feed back. I am also looking for a writing group in the western suburbs (around Wheaton) of Chicago.
  3. Honestly, I try not to think that. It will ruin the surprise for me. I just hope the ones that do die go out with a bang (figuratively or literally).
  4. Not going to lie, I'm a little jelly.
  5. Count me in. Hopefully Brandon is feeling better this year (I think he had a cold or something last year). Hopefully I will meet some of you there, I will try to wear something noticeable. Probably something Zelda related, because Heaven forbid I wear something else.
  6. Welcome, I am new as well. Going off of above, who is your least favorite character?
  7. I'm not sure about the best, but I'm not a fan of Shallan. Not sure if it's because I'm a girl myself and for what ever reason I have never liked female characters or it's Shallan herself. It's hard to tell. I try not to have favorites because my favorite in other books either die or have a miserable ending.
  8. Oh must I pick one? Oh dear what a difficult thing to do. (Even though I've only read four books) I think it would be Words of Radiance. Though I really enjoyed the Way of Kings.
  9. I read Eragon back when I was in junior high, a few years after it came out. I also read Eldest. But then lost interest in Brisingr. It served it' purpose as an introductory novel I guess but there is a reason why i lost interest in the whole series mid way through the third book.... a reason I no longer remember (probably got bored as happens to me with some books/series). It might be a good introductory book for a young reader who has never read fantasy before. Might is a strong word there......
  10. Pretty much nothing. If they brought Tremors back as a TV show I would love to watch it. For no other reason than to laugh at Burt. I watch GoT and Outlander but neither has the latest season out yet. Nor does Stranger Things. But I am watching Dragon Ball Z Super so there's that.
  11. So I am new to this forum. I saw it when I was browsing Brandon's website. So where to begin? I guess the best part is how I heard of Brandon. I work in the deli as a deli clerk (real surprise there I know.) and I was speaking to one of my co-workers about GoT. He off handily mentioned that since I like to read the GoT books that I might like this Brandon Sanderson fella. (also adding that I don't have to wait 10 years and a day for the next book to come out because he's super fast). At the time I was reading about Peter the Great and had some other books I needed to read, so I told him I would add Brandon to my list. The book he suggested was Way of Kings. And every week he would ask if I had read the book and my response would be the same, it was on my list. Now my list is a magical list in which I put authors or titles that I will probably not get to. Maybe but probably not (and yes it still exists today). For a solid month he wouldn't stop pestering me until finally I have in and bought a copy of Way of Kings off of Ebay and I was instantly hooked. I guess I can thank my co-worker's instance (to put it nicely) on me becoming a fan. I'm still new to Brandon. I've only read a total of four books and the fifth is being sent to me. I do love the Stormlight Archive series and it is my favorite thus far. I can't say Brandon is one of my favorite author thus far only on a technicality. I set a rule for myself that I have to like at least three works (each series counts as one work) from an author before he or she can be considered. So hopefully after I get Elantris and read it, Brandon can join the ranks in which he belongs. I'm glad I found this forum and I hope to meet some fellow Sanderson fans.
