  1. A cheeky comment: Maybe the Heralds placed their blades in the ground in order to change the way that the blades perceived themselves (as owned by the Heralds), which ended the fighting-torture/resurrection cycle the Oathpact kept the Heralds in.
  2. I know this topic is a bit old, but I feel justified in commenting because it actually seems relevant ie for future Mistborn or maybe a cosmere-focused book. A shardblade couldnt cut through Nightblade because of how heavily invested it is. Think about how shard plates can stop shardblades while they still contain storm light. I don't know about the reverse, but I feel like shard blades would also be impervious to being cut, despite Nightblood's strength. No proof for this though.
  3. I don't know about this idea... is it actually based off something Brandon said? However its fun speculating anyway. We know that allomancy still existed amoung the Terris population pre-Rashek, but only expressed in the occasional misting. So these shard-metals wouldn't always necessarily bestow the magic system - just spiritual links to the respective Shard. Question - How would Lerasium/Preservation work on Sel? Would it also be based on regions?
  4. Maybe the different tech in the South has nothing to do with magic? What if Brandon means they have developed solar/heat based technology? Since Allow of Law is heading in the path of present-day technology, maybe the concepts of sustainability, reuseablility and efficiency are unknown to the people of Elendel. I think this makes sense - can somebody confirm for me, I think the Southern continent is meant to be quite hot as a result of HoA, right?
  5. I love how sneaky Brandon's 2-part message is. The Intent makes me think of the Furtive Pygmy from the Dark Souls game. If you know about it, some of the Lord soul stuff is actually quite similar to Shards. Furtive: Attempting to avoid notice or attention, typically because of guilt or a belief that discovery would lead to trouble; secretive. Suggestive of guilty nervousness. Synonyms stealthy - secret - surreptitious - privy - hidden "Furtive" definitely fulfills the hiding part of the Intent, and possibly the desire to survive. Its not a perfect match, but it might get people thinking. Anyway, Furtiveness is a poor name for a Shard. I think that hiding is only a secondary part of the Intent in that (at least at the moment) hiding is necessary for survival (as the primary part of the Intent)
  6. I live in New Zealand where Aluminium is normal, but now I can't not say Aluminum after reading AoL twice (double negative, tricky)
  7. Hey guys, I'm new to posting. Don't expect me to drop in often I can't remember which interview I saw this on, but in regards to Biochroma being specific to Endowment, Brandon once stated that only the people of Nalthis could transfer their breaths and only they could Awaken with the power of them. I can't remember what this implied for any world-hopping hemalugists, but the 'Breath' part of the magic system was the exclusive part. I might try searching the interview archives I recognise for cosmere stuff
