  1. Mind if I ask how you know this, friend...was there a WoB mentioning this specifically? Nothing he did really stood out to me surge-wise, unless catching the giant claw and holding it was one! Also, I don't think he could have seen that happen whenever because it was mentioned multiple times that the Greatshell was the largest that had ever been seen and or killed. And Elhokar said that Wit wasn't seen anywhere near the battle, so observing the budding KR aspect I kind of ruled out, again I'm just theorizing here . @Yata Why won't spren like that bond with humans...evidence/WoB? Also, I'm pretty sure that Wit isn't exactly human in the proper sense. Lastly I've read OB....kinda thought that my name gave that away, haha
  2. Wit/Hoid usually has good reasons for showing up at certain places, this is known. During a re-read of WoK's I came across a section that intrigued me...after the giant battle with the Chasmfiend Wit engages Sadeas, and afterwards Elhokar asks what he was doing the whole time. Wit responds with "I had...things to be about." Now I think it has something to do with the Chasmfiend. Specifically I think he wanted to observe the special spren that they have. "Nobody knew what kind of spren they were; you only saw them around the freshly killed bodies of the greatshells." For what reason I have no idea...possibly trying to find a spren to bond thinking that if he was close enough to the recently deceased he could attract it to him..I just thought it was interesting. Does anyone else have any theories as to what he was doing? Or if this has been answered somewhere before I would love a link!
  3. I seem to remember a part in OB where Szeth talks about "his mysterious spren that he's only seen appear a few times," maybe this is why he used Nightblood. Like others said he might not be far enough along, if he hasn't even spoken to it yet it would make sense that he can't use it as a blade yet!
  4. “Welcome lost one, he whispered”...gives me chills every time
  5. On my way to work this morning I was thinking of just how funny and, pardon the pun, witty Hoid is, especially in WoK's. He's one of the few characters iv'e read in any series that almost always makes me laugh out loud while also making me look deeper into his words to find the meaning behind them. Anyone have some favorite quotes or scenes with him? I work in the medical field and this one I hold near and dear to my heart.... “I like to live every day like it's my last."Shallan nodded."And by that I mean lying in a puddle of my own urine, calling for the nurse to bring me more pudding.”
  6. Mind if I ask where this info comes from? (I remember that emeralds are used to soulcast food, making them the most important, but not necessarily anything about capacity) <----- Not sure how to insert only this as a quote, sorry I'm still new here! As for your answer I think it was mentioned a few times in OB. I'd have to go back and find an exact quote, but from what I remember something was said about this. Kaladin and the gang using them to open oathgates and such. If another gem was able to hold more stormlight you would think that they would have taken them and not the Emeralds. Your response is fantastic. I love the longevity and intricacy of it!
  7. I signed up for the newsletter a few years and only got one last year, is there a way for me to sign up again? I browsed around on his site and couldn't find anything mentioning the newsletter. Any help is appreciated
  8. Kvothe I could see as an Edgedancer/Lightweaver. He "remembers those that are forgotten" and also has many "juicy truths" that Im sure the a Lightweavers spren would love!
  9. Thank you so much, I appreciate the time put into your answer! I realized this as I was reading OB, but again I still think they're more important than they seem. They have Emerald (supposedly able to hold the most stormlight) gemhearts. I'm pretty sure different gems/polestones correlate with different orders, so again I'm back on Greatshells being left as some sort of protection for Roshar. Could the Herald that is in charge of Emerald have left them as an emergency source of Stormlight? I dont know, just rambling thoughts here/
  10. One about Gavilar would be cool. Also one on Kaladin's parents would be insightful as well!
  11. So Iv'e been perusing the Arcanum along with some threads on this site, and I haven't seen much on Stormlight. I feel like this is a very important aspect. Are the highstorms connected to the spiritual realm somehow, since they're the only thing (besides Dalinar's little stint at the end of OB) that recharge spheres? Also the Chasmfiends. They have gemhearts and those obviously need refilled with Stormlight for them to live, so does that make them good, possibly some sort of protection that was left? I remember a section in WoK where they think one is a voidbringer, but if (to dumb it down,) they run on storm and not voidlight so they should be naturally good, right? They seemed to be quite prominent in books 1 & 2,-- in OB I barely remember mention of them at all...could this be some important foreshadowing? This is my first post and would love to be enlightened/hear everyone's thoughts!!
  12. Her order is definitely the one I want to know the most about. Also with her being in charge now she'll probably be expected to marry/start a family...I don't think she'll like it, but it'll open up and show what type of sexuality she has!

  14. Wasn’t there a part talking about her being emotionally traumatized at a young age? Im sure this could result in her stony outward appearance. Shallan also specially noted that Jasnah grinned in response to one of Kaladins retorts. From what I remember Jasnah doesn’t grin too often when arguing, so she either respects him or likes him. Kaladin could be “the guy
