  1. A bit late to the party, but I'm doing a reread and just noticed a small connection. Sorry if it's been noted before and I am reposting this. As we know, Brandon takes care in choosing his words. On page 1204, when the Pursuer tells El that his title was given to a human, El's response is "I've heard". If El's title was He Who Quiets, as is a proposed theory, his response of "hearing" would be a subtle nod to the fact that now that he no longer "quiets" things, he can actually hear them. I may be looking too far into it, but I believe El's choice of response was meant as one of those ironic flippant remarks that we readers don't understand as such until we learn things in later books. I guess we won't know for sure until a few years from now, but this is my headcannon for now!
  2. Calling it now- Syl gets a physical body from Ishar, and Kaladin dies. Because he's so invested and full of Honor he hangs around as a cognitive shadow, bonds BACK to physical Syl, and she manifests him as a Kalblade to win the day.
  3. So, we know that hemalurgic spikes have to be stored in blood, or else they lose charge. We also know that a spike can never completely lose its charge, it's like an exponential thing where the spike deteriorates very quickly when it is first created and then the deterioration rate decreases and flatlines. For allomantic spikes, this makes sense- depending on the potency of your allomantic ability, you can be stronger or weaker (ie elend vs vin in emotional allomancy power). But my question is, how does this work feruchemically? If I were to create a spike that lets me store my weight, leave it out until only .01% of the original potency remains and then spike myself with it, would it limit the amount of weight I store in a metalmind? Or would it affect the rate at which I can store and tap weight? To this point I'd like to bring up the scene in which Wax depletes his ironmind in his manor to break through the floor and save himself, Wayne, and Marasi from his butler's bomb. It seems to me that in this scene, Wax dumps all of his stored weight in but a moment; it's not like he can only take out 5 pounds a second, or something like that. Is this because he is simply a feruchemist, and anyone with even the smallest bit of skimmer ability could do what he did, or is it because he is a strong feruchemist, and there are other skimmers who could not do what he did as quickly (or even others who could have done it quicker)? TL;DR- is feruchemy either on or off , or can you have weaker or stronger feruchemical ability based on various factors just like allomancy? If anyone has anything to chime in with, it'd be much appreciated thanks!
  4. A thought just popped into my head. Could the strange white-gold blade that Vyre (Moash) uses to kill Jezrien possibly be a dawnshard? It seems to "bind" Jezrien's soul somehow when he is killed. I know that because of its color it seems to be some sort of metal related to Odium, but maybe there's something more to it than that.
  5. I may be forgetting something, but I seem to recall that Syl only zips into Kaladin's hair to hide within the tassels, not actually into his body. Even then, she only does it for short periods of time. I think that it's odd that Glys seems to permanently reside within Renarin, and could signify something to the effect of Renarin having a gemheart.
  6. I love your name. I just taught the kids at school today about Tardigrades and the Panspermia theory.

      Shardigrade

Thanks! I have loved tardigrades for as long as I can remember and once this name popped into my head I had to go for it haha

  7. I believe that WOB mentions that when the "faceless immortal" names another realm it does not really mean a realm such as the cognitive or spiritual, but some "other realm" in a more religious kind of way. I think Sanderson says that we were simply looking too far into it and he didn't mean it quite like that.
  8. What if you tapped mental speed from a zinc metalmind? I'd think that would work too
  9. Hello sharders! I've had an account for a bit now, and have been a lurker for years, but finally decided to chime in and ask a question I've been thinking about. How fast could a mistborn (or someone hemalurgically altered to do so) switch between pushing and pulling on an object? As in, could a practiced allomancer theoretically work a set of speakers by pushing and pulling on the metal plate extremely quickly at the correct frequencies? Or, could someone push and pull on a piece of metal so quickly that friction causes it to melt? Not sure if this has any practical uses, although theoretically one could manipulate the vibrations of say a streetlamp to project words or sound out in public settings. Imagine the Lord Ruler walking down the street and making his voice literally emanate through the window frames of every building in the area! This also makes me wonder about how pushing and pulling liquid metal works. Is it possible? Could Wax carry around a crucible full of a molten metal and shoot lasers of fire and death? XD sounds strange but I can't see why that couldn't happen. Anyway, thanks for listening to my ramblings!
