  1. @OTC Welcome! Great post. To Elanmorin, IIRC Syl does comment on the pressure bubble, which I take to mean that it is unusual. Concerning Dalinar and the Perpendicularity, The Stormfather tells Dalinar that his “is the power of Connection, of joining men and worlds...” I take this as foreshadowing the creation of the Perpendicularity, where Dalinar Connects the realms, though there are other reasons to believe something else is happening (Odium’s dialogue in particular). The power seems to be a larger use of the usual Surges for Bondsmiths, rather than an atypical usage. Renarin on the other hand is a total wildcard. Who knows how that will end up working. I’m not sure we have seen enough of Venli and her surges to tell any differences. Welcome to the Shard!
  2. Page 425,Location 8511 of the U.S. Kindle version , when Shallan is gambling with her soldiers. "My brothers always said the same thing," she said as he split the pot with Shob, who had gotten them all right but three. (Emphasis mine) Seems to have omitted a "s"
  3. I wonder if the Everstorm restoring the parshmen's souls has something to do with Dalinar remembering Evi. Syl says that it restores Connection and Identity, perhaps it simply filled the "hole" the Nightwatcher left in Dalinar's Spiritweb, as well as those of the parshmen. I think that Gavilar was referring the piece of Adonalsium that gave them sentience in the prologue, because the definition of "spren" is super broad, encompassing most kinds of investiture.
  4. "NO MATING" is one of the funniest things that Sanderson has ever written. Shallan's chapters are good to see, if not super healthy for her mentally. The Kaladin scene kinda threw off the pacing for me. Sure there is a lot of really good information there, but placing it in between the two Shallan chapters made me feel as if there should be a time gap between them. Also, the epigraphs are not super helpful this week. Cases are still building right now, but my money is on either Jasnah or Taravangian being the author. Jasnah for obvious reasons, and Taravangian because of the heretic reference and the comments about "the women who read this" in conjunction with the "brutal truth" epigraph from this week. I honestly think that it could be either though. It's just too early to tell
  5. I'm kinda surprised that nobody has mentioned the Purelake vision where Dalinar is explicitly hunting a spying spren. The implications of this vision are huge for several reasons, particularly in that spying spren can be detected. The other big question is how. Can a Radiant's spren see the spys? Or is there some variation on an alerter fabrial that works for spren?
  6. Huh. Thanks for all of the replies! Definitely something to keep in mind during my next re-read.
  7. Highstorms occur every 3 days?! I had thought the gap between each was closer to two weeks. Is there something I am missing here?
  8. @Smart Sloth We have indeed seen Hoid travel between planets before. It's almost a race to find him whenever a new cosmere book comes out. He isn't in all of them, but he is around in the vast majority, wether he uses the name "Hoid" or not. I don't know which books you have read already, but I encourage you to read them all and try to find him in them!
  9. The discussion about the paragraph about Rlain is especially interesting because of WoB that Squires were often Radiants in training from the Boskone signing this February.
  10. I'd imagine that A-Chromium would have an effect, like the story in the Bands of Mourning broadsheet, where a leacher dies indeed drain investiture besides Allomancy. However, I would also think that it would not have as great an effect as it would on another mistborn, simply because the Radiant could breathe in more stormlight, rather than having to ingest more metal like an Allomancer would.
  11. Allomancy and Feruchemy have lots of cool powers, but AonDor is simply beautiful. Maybe it's the symmetry, or the drawings of light, but something about AonDor captured my imagination from the first time I read Elantris. The precision required seems like it would be highly rewarding as well.
  12. Regarding the discussion about using Selish magic off planet, the Coppermind page for the Moon Scepter is very relevant. http://coppermind.net/wiki/Moon_Scepter
