  1. ^hahaha! Yes! I'm feeling the same way. I can't sit around refreshing the link all night. I just can't. I have kids to take care of and a little essential thing called sleep. I hope they fix it soon!
  2. Just a thought that struck me today, and I couldn't help myself. Haha!
  3. You could be like me and take your sister with you, and let her in line in front of you (so you had more time to talk) and then watch in horror as she basically tells him that you worship him and she thinks you're weird. I was so flustered afterwards that all I could say was, "well, she said it all..." BUT, I still got to meet Brandon and I was way excited. Even if you forget your question, it will be a good day.
  4. Sanderson is a machine, right? This made me genuinely laugh... then sigh, because it's true and I can't keep up! I heard him say once that he's had to force himself to quit writing and spend time just being a husband and father. He told the group I was with that writers need to stop being just writers sometimes. As an aspiring writer, I'm the opposite, I have to force myself to put aside family duties to write, when I'd genuinely like to write all the time. I suppose it's easier to find writing time when you are that successful, because then it really is your 9-5 job. Although, I still don't see how he could accomplish so much in that time frame and still travel to writers conferences, comic cons and book promotions! Long story short- your comment on the meme is exactly how I feel! I love it. Lol.
  5. This made me laugh when I saw it...it's all too accurate.
  6. My brain latched on to the word/name Parshendi. For weeks, if I ever stopped thinking or tried to sleep, that word just rolled around in my head. It was annoying, but I realized that I really did like the word. It rolls off the tongue in a fun way. Other than that, Jasnah is my favorite name.
  7. I went to a writer's conference last year in Provo, UT. I was given the tickets last minute and hadn't read up on any of the speakers, teachers, etc. BS happened to be the keynote speaker and was teaching a class as well. The class was SRO, so I didn't get in on that one (storms!). After I got home, I thought, "well, if he was the keynote, he must be pretty good". I picked up WOK and almost went cross eyed with the switching POVs in the first 5 chapters. I stuck with it though and by the end I was in awe of his world building and story writing capabilities. I had no idea just how great he was, even then. After that, I read everything Sanderson has ever written (with the exception of his Evil Librarian series, I've only read book one in that). Several of his other books/series I've read twice. The icing on the cake though was going back to the same Storymakers writing conference this year and getting to meet him. He wasn't slated to speak or even show up for the book signings. So, when he showed up at the author signing I was totally geeking out. In fact, after he signed my book, my sister left her phone on his table. She had already lost it once during the conference, so I grabbed it up for her. I walked around with that phone in my hand for five minutes before realizing it wasn't my sister's phone. Yeah. I stole Brandon's phone. I was so embarrassed when I returned it. Anyhow, that's how I became introduced to the world of Brandon Sanderson. I'll always be a fan.
  8. Don't be too jealous when I tell you this...but I actually got to meet Brandon this weekend. When I told him that WoK was the first book of his I read, he said, "wow, you really dove in head first!" Haha! So, even Sanderson realizes that his Stormlight Archive works are really intense. That made me feel so much better. Then I stole his phone. Totally by accident (I thought it was my sister's sitting there) and had it for like 5 minutes before realizing and returning it. Probably the most embarrassing 5 seconds of my life... me: I accidentally grabbed this phone while I was here. Brandon (looking at me over his shoulder, through the top of his glasses): Yeah, that's mine. Only me, I swear!
  9. I believe it's possible....but still waaaaaay crazy! I read/listened to WoK while training for a half marathon (that's many hours of running in a week), plus while doing house chores and it still took me two weeks! It's 32 hours, right? So that's eight hours a day for a four day read. Totally possible...but insane! Haha!
  10. I almost stopped reading them because I was so lost the first few chapters. Thank goodness I kept going. It's become my favorite series ever...and BS is now my favorite author. That was the first book of his I ever read, a doozy to start with!
  11. I totally did this too, at the Library two weeks ago. I did a double take, took it down from the shelf and opened it to see if it was in extra large print for the elderly. Nope. Ha ha ha! That book is HUGE.
  12. AngelEy3, it's nice to know I'm not alone. One of my best friend's favorite things to say to me in high school was "Dee, we really need to find you some chocolate boots..." You know, so it would at least taste good when I shoved my foot in my mouth! I can't believe you said that with a room full of academy grads! Oh, man...ha ha. One of the reasons I didn't want my husband to be a cop was because I didn't want to encourage his arseholey side, as you put it. Lol. Thankfully, he chose a different career. I have many friends that are cops, my dad worked as a detention officer for 20+ years. It just wasn't a good fit for my husband. (Look at me...middle child much)
  13. Ha ha ha! I love this. Honestly, does it matter how it's pronounced? I had a hard time not going cross eyed when listening to the Elantris short stories, read by a different narrator than the actual novel. I think they only said one name the same. Ultimately though, the story is still great no matter how you say the names. Amiright?
  14. Right??? Ha ha! I'm hoping maybe I'll learn to think before I talk, just a smidge more. I'm 36 though...I may be set in my ways. Yikes!
  15. Whew! I'm really good at saying the first thing that comes to mind. In fact I still get teased for telling my husband he was too smart to be a cop...in front of his friend who had just applied to the police academy! Ha ha! Then I tried to back peddle, "I mean, it's good for you, but Matt is really smart and would be wasted there...people who can, should do more and use their brains" Yeah, he never came over again.
