  1. Was it just my hopeful eyes, or was Hoid the beggar character in Volume 2? The way he spoke reminded me a lot of him, but definitely not the way he looked. If it wasn't in graphic novel format, I feel I wouldn't find this so confusing.
  2. After rereading Secret History and starting the standalone Edgedancer, I'm wondering, if Kelsier happened to be able to worldhop to Roshar, would Lift be able to see him? Kel mentioned that Spook is crazy enough to be able to partially see into the Cognitive Realm and as such is able to see him. Wyndle also mentioned that Lift must be partially in the Cognitive Realm, else she wouldn't be able to use him for climbing. So would Lift be able to interact with Kel in the Cognitive Realm, since she herself appears to be partially in it?
  3. I'd love to see Mistborn as a movie. It deserves a full budget to really portray allomancy well. I'd love to see Vin on the big screen. I would also like to see Warbreaker brought to life. It could make for a good one-series TV show, much like Elantris.
  4. I really like this idea. It kind of gels with what we know of the Cognitive Realm thanks to The Emperor's Soul. Things are convinced that they are what they are until they are manipulated to think otherwise. It's easy enough for a stick to become fire (unless it's a particularly stubborn stick) because it's small. The ocean, on the other hand, is massive and to convince the ocean that it is something else would be a massive task. We'll definitely have to see more of the Cognitive Realm to be certain, though.
  5. So my friend and I have been passing back and forth theories about what will become of Dalinar in Oathbringer. He thinks that his lack of a Shardblade and the oncoming Everstorm will result in his death. I personally think that having the Stormfather bonded to him is enough to keep Dalinar alive. He is still in the process of defining himself as well. Not only that, but his death would result in downward spirals for Renarin, Adolin, and Kaladin. I don't know if Brandon would kill a character with such impact. What other theories are out there? I'm interested in hearing them!
  6. My library only just allowed this book to be on order, so I'm really late to this topic. I swear my copy of the book doesn't have the ending you all are talking about, but I'm so relieved to hear that the series will continue and Grandpa Smedry isn't dead. I definitely laughed more while reading this book than I have with any of the other Alcatraz books, so props to Brandon for that! When I get home tonight, I'll scour my book again to see if I can find that hidden ending.
  7. @Mr. Staccato, that was a beautifully made point. I really appreciate it. I know I'm late in getting back to you but I really enjoyed your explanation!
  8. Wow, @8bitBob, that's incredible! I love it! I wonder, does this mean you could possibly remember events that happen when you're unconscious? If you're still tapping that coppermind, would it still record those experiences?
  9. Definitely keep pushing through! You'll love the ending. Brandon's shorter works seem to start a bit slow (at least for me) and then you gradually start getting into it and before you know it, you've finished reading! I really do enjoy The Emperor's Soul. If Edgedancer didn't exist, it would be my favorite Sanderson novella.
  10. These are great answers! I'm not surprised Brandon would RAFO copper compounding. It would be a great topic for further exploration as Scadrial progresses and allomancy/feruchemy/hemalurgy develops along with it. As the world gets more complicated, I'm looking forward to seeing what new things can be done with these metals.
  11. I just received quite a good question from my good friend who does not have a Shard account. He asked, "What the heck does copper compounding do to the memories?" I thought it was a great question, so I'm posting it here.
  12. I was browsing through the Cosmere corner of Tumblr recently, and I saw a question that piqued my interest: What happens when twins are born on Nalthis? Does only one have Breath? Do they both have one Breath? Is the Breath somehow split between them? I'd love to know if there are any theories out there.
  13. Ooh, that's very good information to have. Thank you, @Weltall!
  14. @Naurock, I never realized that!!! I must have totally skimmed over it. Thank you. @The One Who Connects, I didn't realize how early Elantris was in the grand scheme of the cosmere. With its Shards being rather peaceful, you're right, there's absolutely a chance for some major leaps in progress. I wonder how Elantrian society has changed since The Emperor's Soul. I would love a glimpse into that missing millennium! @Weltall, you bring up such good points! I could totally see Brandon writing a young character who happens to be able to hack the system. I seem to have missed a lot about Sel in Arcanum Unbounded. At least it gives me an excuse to read it again! I am so curious to see where and when these sequels will take place. Will it be relatively soon after The Emperor's Soul? Will it be further down the line? I think Sel seems to always be overlooked, and Brandon might use that to some advantage by hiding more clues in the books. Maybe the reason Era 3 is coming out after Elantris is because something happens on Sel that has a direct effect on Scadrial?
  15. I wonder how this will all come to fruition. D&D have seemed quiet lately, though that might be more for lack of a sequel/contact with other planets than for any significant means. I could see ChayShan totally dominating in a highstorm if it requires a great amount of Investiture. @Naurock, I think there's something I'm missing here. I'm currently in the middle of Hero of Ages for the third time (rereading in order to connect events and people with Secret History) and the only thing I can possibly think of that connects Sel and Scadrial is the Am I correct, or is there something more I'm missing?
