  1. Brandon constantly refers to Investiture as the "powers of creation". I think Vasher using "Destroy" as part of his Intent when creating NB caused something funky/corrupted within NB, like dividing by zero.
  2. I will say I am getting a little tired of the foreshadowing early on in books for a truth we know will come out later. I don't need to read "but then there was that time.....no, no need to remember that right now" for 10 chapters only for her to finally remember in the end. I get that it helps to build tension, but it can be frustrating as a reader. But I guess that's all part of the journey! Not every character can be your favorite.
  3. We also saw Ym the Truthwatcher in WoK, who I believe was fairly old. Granted, we don't know when he bonded his Mistspren, but it's possible he had been bonded for a while.
  4. I think it's less likely Hoid lost the Breaths and more likely that they were corrupted. We've seen Odium corrupt other Shards Investiture, and the Investiture tends to lose some of its original properties once corrupted. I'm guessing Hoid's perfect pitch being lost is a side effect of corrupted Breaths. I don't see how tOdium would remove or destroy another shards Investiture outright, but I could be wrong
  5. Agreed, but we know this from a reader's perspective, not an in-world one. Jasnah and Dalinar are most likely unaware as to how broken and insane the Fused are, and have no idea they really only need to hold out for a few generations. Plus, we had the vision of Honor telling Dalinar that a contest of champions is the best path to victory, that's not something Dalinar is just going to ignore. Add in Hoid's approval of the plan, and it makes sense why they would see it as a viable option.
  6. My gut feeling is Sixteen is Szeth's father. We got a lot of talk of him this book from Szeth -most likely setting up the next book, im guessing- but I still have this feeling that we have seen Szeth's father already
  7. Maybe it fits in with this death rattle? Always wondered whether the 'child' was a literal child or more symbolic. “I hold the suckling child in my hands, a knife at his throat, and know that all who live wish me to let the blade slip. Spill its blood upon the ground, over my hands, and with it gain us further breath to draw.” —Collected on Shashanan 1173, 23 seconds pre-death, by the Silent Gatherers. Subject was a darkeyed youth of sixteen years. Sample is of particular note.[23]
  8. Pretty sure Brandon has stated that there are only 3 shards on Roshar. Let me see if i can find the quote Edit:
  9. One connection that i made the other day that i was shocked i hadnt realized yet.... SA=Legend of Zelda. Kaladin=Link Syl=Navi Rayse=Ganon Dalinar=Kaepora Gaebora? The Sage of Light? uh... Also some similarities between the Triforce and the Three Shards. Its not a perfect 1=1 but I was disappointed i didnt make the connection sooner.
  10. I like it, but in a way I always interpreted that Death Rattle to be about Shallan and Kaladin when they are in the chasms together and they emerge with the Gemheart, after defeating the Chasmfiend. The true glory part is up for debate as to what it refers to. The "two men" part doesnt really fit unless you go with the general term of "men" to mean humanity. I guess I am trying to shove a square block through a round hole, but its the closest thing i can find.
  11. Does it really make sense that Honor would "cheat"? I mean doesn't that kind of go against his Shardic Intent?
  12. Even better question, why hadn't i started reading Brandon Sanderson earlier!?!? I have always been a fan of WoT, but it wasn't until this past May when i walked into a bookstore and saw The Way of Kings on the shelf. I gave it a shot, and since then i have blown through his work....I am currently on book two of the original Mistborn trilogy, after having read both SA books and Warbreaker. Not much else to say, just wanted to say hi (HI!) and i love the discussions I have read in the forums thus far. Look forward to sharing my crackpot theories with you guys and have them ripped to shreds.
