  1. Glad to hear it! Let me know how it goes. I'd love to get some "in the field" feedback, so to speak. Just be aware; most of the subclasses don't scale to the higher levels yet. That's part of the reason I've been looking for suggestions.
  2. @5ith Ideal Huh... Weird about not being able to read the pdf... Is it something on your end (a broken reader program or something) or something wrong with my file itself? Is there anything I can do to make it easier to access? As for the Mistborn doc, it's interesting to see the metals measured in units of weight-per-time. Seems a little counter-intuitive for a game like D&D, since the turn-based nature of the game means every action is "over time". Still, though; any reference is good reference, so thanks!
  3. Thanks for the tip, @Kidpen ! I'll try and get in touch with Voidus and see if he's willing to exchange ideas. While I love the streamlined design of making a metal's effects into a spell, though, I was intending to cater the class more towards the AoL's mistings and twinborn than towards the Final Empire's mistborn. That being said, perhaps there's potential there for an additional "mistborn" sub-class, using Voidus's clever technique to keep things balanced.
  4. Hey all. Long time creeper, first time speaker here. Like most of us here, I think, I'm a nerd. I built Lego models when I was a kid, computers when I was in highschool, and I've been playing D&D for years now (longer than I've been reading Sanderon's works, in fact). I've always loved the freedom that comes with tabletop RPGs like Pathfinder and D&D, so I've brought it upon myself to find a way to merge these passions of mine with the works of the Cosmere into a single, fun-to-share project. Enter: The Cosmere Universe Guide. A mostly brand-new set of rules and character options for D&D 5e. I've been working on this project off-and-on for the better part of a year now, and while I've made a great deal of progress, I'm starting to hit a wall in some areas. That's why I'm here now; Who wants to make a game? While I personally have no idea how, say, a spren's decision to bond a radiant works, I'm willing to bet that there's someone on here who's made it their life's goal to figure out the most minute of details. Right now, I'm struggling to flesh out one of the new classes; the Allomancer. I'll post a link to the WIP document, so you can see what I'm talking about. As you can imagine, writting a class with 16 sub-classes, based on a magic with strict rules we don't fully understand is a little difficult. Any ideas or suggestions for new class abilities or changes to existing powers are welcome, and I'd love to hear what everyone thinks about an actual full-scale Cosmere RPG! Thanks AllomancerWIP.pdf
  5. (OathBringer spoilers, kind of) Passion Brings Passion: It's a little load-bearing, but I wanted to see how far I could take it without the whole thing going off the rails.
  6. Oh dang, you're right. Thankfully, this works too; "Broken, he is without soul. Dies, power creation. power dies, soul without. Is he broken?"
  7. A couple I just wrote as a warm-up writing exercise; "Shearing soul and flesh, screaming. Silent screams, flesh and soul shear." "Broken, he is without soul. Dies, power creation. power dies, soul without. He is broken." About shardblades and Adonalsium, respectively
  8. While I am intrigued by that theory, it doesn't quite seem to have the ring of truth. My main qualm is this; if the symbols are interchangeable based on the worlds (or shards?) they're being used on/near, why are Aons most effective in Elantris, decreasing exponentially everywhere else. Would that limitation still exist on another shardworld? Say... On Roshar, would you need to use the Radiants' symbols near their centre of power (The spire)? I mean, I suppose you could say Sel's magic is just ubsurdly complex for whatever reason. I mean they have, what, four semi-distinct systems to use the dor?
  9. If the earring is indeed a hemalurgic spike, that means one of two things. Either; A ) This is an old spike, from around the Final Empire or B ) This is a newer, more recently created spike Option A would mean that there is very little chance the earing would actually be doing anything, as it's Hemalurgic 'charge' would've been slowly leaking out over the years. I'm pretty sure it's been specifically stated that larger spikes leak fast enough that the Inquisitors specifically tried to get them into a new host as fast as possible, for fear of lossing power. If that is the case, then there's virtually no chance that Wax's earring would do anything more than allow him to communicate with Harmony. Option B's a little darker; the earring was made by stabbing someone recently (around the time of AoL). This could mean it still confers powers (since it's potentially still fresh when Wax gets it), but this also means that it's far less likely to be Vin's original earring. It could be (and probably is) modeled after the original, but is not the same. Of course, it could be that there's just a process of preserving a Hemalurgic spike that I don't know about (Hah. Preserving Ruin. I see what I did there).
  10. I was under the impression that the walls of Elantris glowed because they were acting as a portion of a gigantic Aon (Rao, I think..?), serving to focus the Dor in the area, making it more powerful. I mean, we know that normal Aons glow, as do (I believe) Aons carved into stone or sculpted out of metal, right? It could stand to reason that a similar phenomena is happening with Elantris' giant Aon-shaped walls
  11. Alright. Assuming you're correct in assuming that Nightblood is indeed digesting the investitiure (for the record, I agree that is likely), and... pooping out the waste, which we see as smoke, then what actually happens to that waste? If it's been drained of all of its nutrients, so to speak, then what's left over is presumably some form of partially-drained battery. Perhaps the substance, devoid of intent (or mandate), sort of just floats around freely until it's eventually sucked back into one of the shards (or a similar source of power) and re-integrated. Then, assuming the above is plausible; does the shard absorbing Nightblood's waste become more or less powerfull? I mean, there's no more stuff to but your power into, and therefor more room for your power. On the other hand, It's possible that the additional substance requiring infusion would only dilute the shard's power, spreading it out just a little thinner. Kind of a side-theroy, but I figured it may be worth mentioning. I'll admit, I have only a moderate knowledge of Realmatic Theory, so this could easily be flawed.
  12. Alright, I've just read this with the instrumental of the original "Part of your world" playing in a different tab, and I've just gotta say; I freakin' love this! One little nit-picky thing, though, if I may? In the first verse of your version, you have copper as storing 'cold'. I get that you're rhyming with 'gold', and I can understand how that works. Might I suggest something more along the lines of 'what's it stop again?'. Probably not exactly a huge concern, but I figured it may be worth mentioning... Anyhow, great work! Really find it entertaining
