  1. Hey guys! Been a while since i've posted on here! I have a loony type theory for you's all, which might spark some good discussion in general! Basically, chapter 14 of the Final Empire, the diary epigraph at the start reads: Ok, well, I'm sure you've seen it coming by now, But does this not sound eerily similar to Shallan's experience? And those of King Elhokar? Very wacky I know, but my friend pointed it out to me, and it's a fun one to think about! We also mused about the origin of the terris people and feruchemy, and how we really know very little about the rest of Scadrial. Anyway, go wild! =D
  2. Yeah, that makes sense in that way! Thanks for elaborating! And yeah, I was pretty sure of the fact that the Ars Arcanum was written by "Hoid or the Seventeeth Shard", which is why I wanted to ask if the AA writer was the same as the Letter writer, as this might then stand as evidence towards the AA having been written by Hoid (if of course he did indeed write the letter). Also, this differentiation between Hoid and the Seventeeth Shard seems important. Perhaps he's implying that they're both doing similar work, but perhaps to different ends? My friend brought up the point of Hoid resembling Satan, in terms of them both being silent manipulators, and always pulling strings in the background, and Brandon kind of just smiled at this, but obviously its very unclear as to whether he smiled at his character being likened to Satan, or if he was on the right track. And I'm not sure if this has been covered or not before, but Brandon did confirm to us that Hoids appearance as a beggar at the wedding was purely as a cameo, and he wasn't doing anything of huge importance to the Cosmere at that time. He just felt that he had best include him, lest people go crazy trying to find him in the book! Btw, apologies if my posts are very unorganized, I realize it could have been neater to make notes of everything and construct a full post when I have the full information from my friends, but for now I'm still kind of on a high from meeting him (/fanboy moment) that I'm just spewing information in case I forget anything/in case people find it interesting.
  3. Man, i gotta learn to take my time and not rush these things, anyway, heres another thing i forgot. Im pretty sure this has already been asked, but i asked him: Q: The person who wrote the Ars Arcanum in AoL, is that the same person who wrote the Letter in WoK. A: Its not confirmed, but its either Hoid, or someone in the 17th shard. (However, thinking back, I'm not sure if he fully heard/understood the question, and perhaps he was expecting it to be something else. But it seems to me that if he namedropped Hoid, that he may have misunderstood the question, as it seems very likely that Hoid wrote the Letter, i dont think he'd let something slip like that. So i would count this information as rather tenous.)
  4. Oh, and another little tidbit, The person who gave Wax his earring was the kandra, MeLaan (thank you Chaos for the spelling). Also, that Kandra are working as "Sazed's Angels". And their role is primarily to go along fixing things by Sazed's Will. Brettin was killed towards the end of the book, but not in the storyline related plot. Sazed saw this, and told Tensoon to go get his bones, which is why he wasnt able to imitate him properly.
  5. Hey, so me and 3 of my friends flew over from Ireland to go to this signing, so as a result Brandon was very happy to give us extra time to ask questions, and even stayed around for an extra 25-30 mins talking to us after his 4 hours of study, he's such a nice guy! Anyway, we asked him a tonne of questions, and i'll get my mates to register here to add their questions to this thread, or i'll make another post when they send me their info! In Summary, the questions we asked: Q: (something along the lines of how exactly is what you see when you burn gold determined) A: He said that each time you burn gold, you see a different image, so it changes depending on your current situation. Q: What would happen if you burned Duralumin and Bendalloy A: He gave us a big RAFO, and i think hinted at that it was going to play a part in future books, so its going to be important. Q: At the end of AoL, Marsh tells Marasi, that Wax is doing "his brothers work". Does this mean Kelsier is still meddling, or is this a continuation of his initial legacy. A: Kelsier has never been good at doing what he's told. He's still interfering. Q: The stormlight Archive is going to be in 2 5 book arcs, will there be a big gap between these (story time wise). A: He said there would be a small gap, nothing as big as Mistborn and AoL, but it would be there. Q: Is the size of speed bubbles affected by the strength of the allomancer? A: Yes. (However, this seems odd to me, as in the text, Wax says that Wayne is flaring his metal, to give them as much compresed time as possible, maybe i'm wrong in associating flaring a metal with increased strength, perhaps flaring leads to an increased Effect of the metal? any sort of confirmation of this would really be appreciated! i should have asked then is Marasi considerably stronger than Wayne in terms of raw allomancy, or is the size variance a result of the metals, but unfortunately this was before the signing had begun, and i forgot to bring it up afterwards with him. Q:Is Officer Brettin Tensoon at the end of the book? A: Yes. (He let on during the signing that TenSoon made an appearance, and my friend Joe guessed it was Brettin, and Brandon confirmed it then later to us) Q: i made a comment about the role mythology plays in WoT, and if Brandon was planning on using any real world mythological parrallels for the Stormlight Archive. A: No, he said that while they play a huge role in WoT, that if he were to include mythological parallels in Stormlight, that they would be parallels of Roshar's own mythology. (So perhaps were going to see Kaladin/Dalinar paralelling the Heralds?) Q: Concerning the Radiants shardplates, and the glyphs on them that Dalinar had never seen before, is there any relation to these and the AonDor? could they perhaps act as an added focus. A: From what i recall, he didnt really give a definitive answer on this one, but he seemed as if we were in the right direction Thats all i remember for now, i'll talk to my friends and see if i can remember any more, i know they have more questions to add to it!
