  1. If you get in line early (for the first 100), a wristband will get you the book corresponding to your number in line. If you don't want to wait in line, you can show up to the event (which I believe starts at like 7pmish) at the Utah Valley Convention Center WITH YOUR BARCODE that was emailed to you, and you'll be given a wristband then, which you'll then use to get your book. If you want to be there for Brandon's talking/Q&A, you have to get a SECOND wristband from the Utah Valley Convention Center on Monday Nov 13 starting at 10:00am. Also, while I'm not in the line (yet), I'll be keeping track of the length and such. So far there's 5 people waiting in line!
  2. I was at the signing, and I'm pretty sure the worldhopping story that Brandon was talking about was Rock's story of "Lunu'anaki" (Hoid) coming through the shardpool in the Horneater mountains.
  3. For anyone who's here early, I'm right outside the bookstore with a decked out lanyard. In case you're wondering where to go, at 6:30, we will be in room 3228 which is the floor above the bookstore. I should probably be here until then.
  4. No, I just used my printer. I used something similar to this: https://www.onlinelabels.com/OL25.htm I'm pretty sure that I just bought the blank ones at Kinkos or something.
  5. Kind of. I had some label stickers that let me download a template so it would download right, and I just pulled the 17th Shard logo and printed out a couple sheets. Since each one give about 50, they've kept us going for quite a few signings. I'm not quite sure if we'll be able to play Cosmere against Humanity, since I'm not sure if the person who has it printed out is coming or not. I really should print a copy of it....
  6. I just want to say, Brandon had me fooled. I read the end, read the afterword, then read the acknowledgements, then Brandon's acknowledgements, then even part of the writing and analysis prompts before giving up and realizing that it was the end. Finished. Kaput. "But how?" I asked myself. "There are way more than usual loose ends. Why is there a Freeland left to write to? But both Attica and Grandpa's death! Man, Brandon wasn't kidding when he said this book was dark." And then I come on here to talk about the sudden and complete ending of the series. And I see others talking, and realize. There's a last page. I scrambled to my book, tearing it open, and see the sneaky little inserted folded paper on the literal last page. Made so that I would only see it if I was looking for it. I read it. And I let out a sigh of relief. Of course Grandpa's not dead. And of course Bastille's married to Alcatraz. And of course it's not the end. Brandon wouldn't want to have to answer all 500 questions that the ending leaves at every single signing! Bravo Brandon. You had me fooled. It was a really enjoyable read. I think I might have to reread it to catch on some of the jokes I didn't see the first time around (Thesaurus. Man, that's awesome.) I did catch Dif being Biblioden about halfway through. He really was trying too hard, and I think his name's similarity to Dilaf had me watching him closely anyways. Bastille's book will be interesting to read. I'm looking forward to it.
  7. I'm here. I'm right on front of Papa John's. Wilson's here too.
  8. I think I only have one legitimate choice- there are several people that are tempting, but nobody can only exist where Somebody (SD) is not. EDIT- Formatting Error
  9. I'm back from the depths of inactivity to find a field full of inactives and spiked. Oh dear. I was always pretty sure that Nyali was spiked and I was pretty sure Alvron was as well. Araris comes as a surprise though. But faction before spiked. Ah well.
  10. Now that Elb is lynched and that's all taken care of, it's time to try and root out the other 2 Spiked. Straw, you mentioned that Nayali was indicated as the most likely to be Spiked in your faction. Why is that?
  11. Sorry I've been gone, but I've been pretty out of it the past few months with my job. I'm in for anytime from the 1st to the 5th.
  12. Elb I'm curious, however, as to who the other spiked are. We know that dowanx chose Elb. Does that mean he chose similar players for the other factions? Or did he pick a few lurkers who are trying to wait out the game?
  13. Bravo Elb. You did a great job of fooling us all. Bravo indeed. Even though you're going down in a blaze of glory, you brought down someone else with you- a coinshot even.
  14. If three do, then the last one does as well, by default.
  15. I like that idea. What about, when we don't have anyone that we really want lynched, if we had the strongest house say who they're most suspicious of? I know that I'd like to vote for a Cett, and it may as well be one that the Cetts are suspicious of. But then again, I doubt the Cett will like this plan much. So unless they say who they want, I'll go with you Nyali . I'm not sure if you're Spiked, but I know your a good player, and if I was the Inquisitor, I'd want to have you on my team.
  16. I am doing well, but I was busy over the weekend and my phone was dead over most of yesterday. Aman, even with it being a faction game, I am immediately distrustful when I see people blatantly lying. I understand that you did it to protect yourself, but given that you lied about that, how can we trust anything else you say? Are you really a seeker? Will the plans you come up with be ones you actually follow? Edit- Grammar
  17. I think you're bluffing. This seems very the last faction game I played, when someone announced the team lists to see who defended it and who thought it looked accurate. Was that you? I think it was either you or Meta. And for Alvron being more active than usual, I would probably just put it up to there being coin to encourage posting and voting. And I'll do a poke vote. Burnt. What are your opinions? Anyone you're suspicious of?
  18. Dowanx why the vote on me? Just a poke vote? Or is there reasoning behind it? Also, I think that the Eliminator is somewhat of a threat, and I think that this thread, and the lynch, will be most often used to try and find them. While yes, they have a kill, it's only every turn. I think the biggest threat is if they manage to take over a faction and start getting koloss kills as well. What happens in the docs is a very different matter, and will be more faction based. Indeed, I bet many of the Spiked accusations will go through with little to no evidence because they aren't on most people's team.
  19. Man, this game is going to be great. It's going to be complicated, with 4 (well, 5) factions of unknown strength, but it's going to be very interesting. Especially with the coined-vote incentive. How many lynch trains do you think will be this game?
  20. Hello everyone! Voidus here again for this months segment on the RPs and social groups! Sorry the update is a little late, but this month we'll be talking more about the up-and-coming Hogwarts Roleplay, a famous Epic Coward, and the chilling Newcago court. Roleplaying Games! The Hogwarts Roleplay ‘Owls and wands’ has had a bit of an update and we all hope it won’t stagnate, because honestly how could a roleplay about the worlds most popular fantasy series hosted by the worlds most awesome forum ever fail? We may finally be getting a pokemon RPG if enough people are interested, we’ll be keeping an eye out for how this one develops and it has the potential to be quite an interesting addition to the ever growing pool of 17th Shard RPs. Reckoners stuff Now on to the RP that some call the lord of all dominion, the eternal and everlasting, the undefeatable and unforgettable. Others call it the Reckoners RP. What Happened in the last month: The Wastelands has received some renewal thanks to Winter’s triumphant return but due to her recent abdication there are new Epics and cities to take and new adventures to be had. You will be much missed Winter but we will try our best to carry on the awesome setting you’ve provided us with! The Dalles has suffered from a slight lack of progress this month but we hope that next month can grant us more fun, more insanity and more Vondra jumping out of helicopters! A tense confrontation between Rainmaker and one of the newest arrivals in the city has seen Corvallis undergoing some more development this month, and there has been talk of… plans for further development still. When will Insight make his next appearance? Who will be the next to disappear? Stay tuned for everyones favourite political drama/zombie slaughterfest, what happened in Corvallis! Portland has seen the return of some characters that haven’t been seen in a while, with Upgrade receiving a post by Comatose while we contemplate the horrors of an upgraded Quota. In other sections of the city Timeport takes on Lucentia in a High Epic showdown while Nighthound regrettably lives to see another day. Featured Character: Backtrack Everybodies favorite punching bag/coward, Backtrack stumbled into the RP full of confidence which has since been systematically beaten out of him by a combination of the horrors of the Empire of Light, being attacked by a panda army, imprisoned in the Dalles and perhaps most horribly of all having to talk to Reader. His ability to see into the past is incredibly powerful, allowing Backtrack to see into the distant past and even get a glimpse of the thoughts of the people who were there. Unfortunately Backtrack himself seems largely unaware of this and rather than using his ability to discover the weaknesses of every Epic in Portland he’s mostly used it to calm himself down when he’s on the verge of a panic attack. The love triangle between Backtrack, his sunglasses and MV continues to be one of the main points of his characters development, along with running away a lot. But we hope he never runs so far away that he leaves the RP, his characteristic blend of cowardice and attempting to seem confident have provided far more to the RP than the tsundere MV would ever admit (It’s not like she likes him or anything!). And we hope he lives to flee another day. Featured Event: The execution of Scorch While not the longest or most insane event to happen in Portland this does remain one of the biggest impacts the RP has endured. The shock of a prominent player character being spontaneously slaughtered without any foreshadowing was a huge surprise to all the players as well as having political implications of the death of a traitor from Thoughttown. This event served to remind us that the city was entering a period of war that would eventually destroy the entire state. Social groups As usual we’ve seen a lot of chatter amongst our various social group, the Debate club has experienced some activity which we hope develops into the thread becoming more active again. Because who doesn’t enjoy debating things like whether the Dark Alley spikes are merely highly nutritious or… highly nutritious and also absolutely delicious! Featured Guild: The Newcago court The Newcago court is one of the longest running active guilds, it’s frozen halls welcoming to new members for over two years now. The guild originated as a celebration of Queen Elsa Steelheart, but has since grown to be much more, with long lasting rp-like stories unfolding as well as just some good fun times, the Newcago court is always open to those looking to have a bit of fun. Whether you join for the parties, the free Shardblades or the chance to witness her royal highness in action there’s always fun to be had in the Newcago court, with periodic wars and abductions and of course the fabulous banquets. Well that’s it for this month, we hope that next month we’ll be able to report on even more exciting happenings in the deepest, insane corners of the 17th Shard. Until then, farewell Sharders! -Voidus
  21. They did. The shades had a doc, and they were hounding Joe. When he used up his silver dust, Joe knew that the Shades would be watching. And so he stopped making kills, because he wanted to make sure that the Shades didn't kill him. The shades were pretty sure that Joe was a Traitor.
  22. This sounds terribly complicated. I'm in as Zas, a worldhopping tourist who seems to have terrible luck in when he chooses to visit planets.
