  1. Been a while since i have been on the forums, so i could be way off, but wouldn't he still have his gemstone in the blade which would allow him to still summon it? If that doesn't work because he revived Maya wouldn't that revival have occurred because he was forming a Nahel bond with her? So he really couldn't lose his sword in that way could he?
  2. I would lean more toward @DalinarsThrill thought here. The size of the blade is not really that big of an issue when with a live blade the spren can change form to whatever size or shape you want. Like when Kaladin shifts between weapons during his fights, or I think i recall him making Syl a small knife to get his bonds when he is traveling with the parshmen in Oathbringer. I don't recall Szeth talking to his spren, just a few times where he sees the spren and gets some impressions from the spren. It seems more likely based on that information that he is just not far enough along in a bonding relationship to have the spren appear as a shardblade. Because of that and having Nightblood at hand then he just pulls Nightblood out to fight.
  3. To piggyback off of this theme about using colors in language as a clue, i think the name "Azure" actually means blue. That would seem an appropriate chosen name for someone from Nalthis and would hint at it being Vivenna since WOB said she was in Oathbringer.
  4. That. Is. Amazing!!!! Wish i would have thought of doing a bridge four onesee when my son was just born. But then again my wife might have looked at me strange as she just couldn't get into the series.
  5. Would you count tears of frustration at finishing this amazing book and then realizing we have 2-3 more years before we get to find out what happens next? Congrats on the pregnancy. The little one must grow up to be a 17th Sharder! i believe that is in the forum bylaws somewhere.
  6. I believe Hoid does an awakening in the epilogue. He whispers words to a doll and sets it down and the doll starts walking. It was a way for him to coax a little girl out of her hiding place. So if Hoid can do an awakening (I presume through stormlight since he has been on the planet for a while) then it would seem likely to me that it is possible for Vasher/Zahel to figure out how to do an awakening using stormlight.
  7. I also thought at the end when Skar and Drehy showed Kaladin Elhokar's son that Drehy said "We protect those who cannot protect themselves." Which to me i thought signaled that they had said the 2nd ideal and were on their own way to becoming radiants vs remaining squires. I am still trying to figure out what was going on with the "I am Unity!" scene? Was it Dalinar starting to reforge honor (since Syl says essentially he created Honor's Perpendicularity)? Was it him saying a next ideal of the bondsmith (Since the stormfather said "these words are accepted)? Was it him making a new shard kind of like harmony (since he has been touched by Odium via the Thrill, Cultivation via his visit to her and the Nightwatcher, and Honor via living by the ideals of the KR)? or was it something else that happened? A few other questions i had: Is Shallan over her identity crisis issues? Will Shallan tell Jasnah about her involvement with the Ghostbloods? What is going to happen with Eshonai (she is supposed to get he own book at some point right? so is she going to be resurrected somehow? like what was the little ball of white fire spren that was near Eshonai and is that going to play into how she maybe gets resurrected?)?
  8. After WOR i was really pissed at Moash but was hoping he would redeem himself. At the start of OB i thought maybe this might happen. Then he killed Elhokar and Jezrien and i was done with him, no chance he is redeeming himself for me. After Moash kills Jezrien that is exactly what i thought. Dalinar resisted becoming Odium's Champion so he still needs one and Moash killing Jezrien lends himself towards me labeling him most likely to become Odium's Champion. Then I think Kaladin fits at being Honor's Champion. It just makes too much sense to me to have it this way given how people have pointed out the parallel yet opposite nature of their character developments.
  9. So i was actually wondering what was going on when Dalinar said "I am unity!" I was trying to figure out if he was reforging honor (Syl mentions shortly after that it is Honor's Perpendicularity that he essentially created)? If he was sort of creating a new shard (kind of like Harmony since he has been touched by Odium with the Thrill, he was touched by Cultivation, and has been touched by honor living by the codes and bonding the Stormfather)? or if he was actually saying a new bondsmith ideal since a few pages later after he says "I am Unity!" and before Dalinar speaks again the Stormfather says "These words... are accepted." Would love to hear what others concluded about that incident. I am not opposed to a reforging of honor or maybe forging a new shard like Harmony but with Odium, Cultivation and Honor in some kind of balance. I think those would all be interesting, though i know forging a new shard would be somewhat repetitive but could have new dynamics with 3 shards being involved instead of 2 opposite shards. I have faith that Brandon would make whatever approach interesting as Oathbringer was awesome and everyone had so many theories they were throwing out in the years between books.
  10. To me this is not as clear cut as it may seem. I don't have the book in front of me but from what i remember of the scene i believe Adolin heard the boy crying while he was running through the building. He had actually gone out the other side of the building already when it registered he had heard a boy crying and he turned around and went back in then flipped a table over and found the boy, then grabbed him and ran out where he shoved him at a soldier. In the heat of the moment, when he is in the middle of fighting a thunderclast and trying to take it down so they could open the Oathgate to let more soldiers in from Urithiru that is the priority. Stopping to grab the boy is something i don't think all of the characters would have done. I could make an argument Szeth wouldn't have done it because if you look at his scene where he is chasing the Fused to get the gemstone back he isn't stopping to help people (granted by killing enemy troops he is tangentially helping people) he is focused on his mission. Maybe folks would disagree, but to me Jasnah is another character that would not have stopped to help the boy. I think she would look at the situation rationally and focus on defeating the thunderclast and the importance of that in the grand scheme of things during the battle versus stopping to save one child (i don't think she would be heartless and want the child to die or get hurt, i think she would just prioritize taking down the thunderclast over saving the child). But that is just my thought.
  11. Been said before, but i like the whole sequence in Chapter 13: “Oh!” Pattern said suddenly, bursting up from the bowl to hover in the air. “You were talking about mating! I’m to make sure you don’t accidentally mate, as mating is forbidden by human society until you have first performed appropriate rituals! Yes, yes. Mmmm. Dictates of custom require following certain patterns before you copulate. I’ve been studying this!” “Oh, Stormfather,” Shallan said, covering her eyes with her freehand. A few shamespren even peeked in for a glimpse before vanishing. Twice in one week. “Very well, you two,” Pattern said. “No mating. NO MATING.” He hummed to himself, as if pleased, then sank down onto a plate. .... He leaned down. His breath smelled of spices, his uniform of the crisp, clean starch Dalinar required. His lips touched hers, and her heart fluttered. So warm. “No mating!” She started, pulling out of the kiss to find Pattern hovering beside them, pulsing quickly through shapes.
  12. How about: 1. WOK 1. WOR 1. OB I don't think i can choose. They are all awesome and epic in their own ways. Every time i reread WOK and WOR they keep getting better. I just finished OB today and it is freaking amazing! so in the heat of the moment i might be partial to OB. But i can't really say because i just got through 1 read of OB and there is so much more to look at when i go back through it and i am sure i will like it even more when i reread it. Oh but what a fun issue to consider. Which of these wonderful books do i like more. Sigh.
  13. I tend to agree that there are different levels of how broken someone can be to become a KR. People have mentioned Adolin's mother dying while he was young, being abandoned at the tower and losing a lot of friends/soldiers, and his killing of Sadeas (it seemed to me in Oathbringer that he did feel conflicted about this but ultimately came to accept it at the end of the book, but i think he struggled there). I also think a few other items could be mentioned that i haven't really seen that might contribute to being broken. I would add in Elhokar dying in front of him in Kholinar and he suppressed it while traveling in Shadesmar and didn't let it out until he and Navani mourn together. I took it as him feeling partly responsible for not protecting Elhokar and that could contribute to brokenness (IIRC all of those key moments hinting at a growing bond with Maya happened after Elhokar died). I would also add in what appears to be him not knowing where he stands in the world. For his whole life he was at the top of the societal structure, he was the great duelist/soldier and people looked to him for leadership and depended on him. Now tons of people around him are becoming KR and he doesn't know how he fits in. It came off to me that he was struggling to an extend with his identity and his place which is something he hasn't really faced before. I think that can contribute to brokenness. Add those in with other things people have mentioned and i think cumulatively there is plenty of issues that would make Adolin broken, just maybe not to the extent of the Dalinar, Kaladin, or Shallan. I would love to see this. "Ok Lift, hold your shardblade like this...wait is that a shardfork?" Regarding Jasnah i feel like there was some mention in Oathbringer of her being young and troubled as a child. I can't remember where i saw it but i thought there was a mention of her being locked away because of her trouble. Does anyone else remember reading something like this (Not sure if it was in a Dalinar, Jasnah, or Navani POV, but i think i remember something like this)? Maybe that is a hint that she has something in her past that broker her when she was younger. Mabye she learned to deal with whatever broke her a long time ago while the main characters we are seeing now are dealing with their brokenness because they are newer to radianthood than Jasnah is.
  14. I just got done with the book this morning. When i saw this thread and what was being said i immediately thought of that moment. In the middle of crashing through buildings fighting a thunderclast he stops to grab a little boy and save him. Maybe it is just wishful thinking because i am in the camp that wants him to revive his blade, but I thought that scene fit in with the Edgedancer ideal of in remembering those that have been forgotten. The little boy was all alone because nobody remembered him and yet Adolin did. It seems to me from various incidents that Adolin is moving toward reviving his blade and becoming an Edgedancer. In Shadesmar his blade attacks the fused trying to kill him, the blade tells him her name in the middle of the thunderclast battle, he saves the little boy left by himself to save him, and he helps save and rally the regular soldiers while the Radiants all take on huge bigger threats (to me the last two seem like they fit Edgedancer ideals through actions versus words). I thought it all just fit so that this is where he is heading as a character.
