  1. True. But if you remember in WoR, when Shallan tried to soulcast the ship after Jasnah was stabbed, the ship initially refused. But after prodding about the crew, the ship relented because it wanted to save those that was riding on him. We also have Oathbringer, the sword not the book, to not scream as loud because it "remembers" Dalinar's oath. So I thought maybe the bridge in the same way thinks itself as part of Bridge Four, a kind of maybe a tiny "nahel bond" between people and the spirit of the object making it stronger.
  2. In Oathbringer, Rock laments on how the bridge fared well despite being present during the clash between the highstorm and everstorm. We also know that Kaladin has been pouring stormlight to the bridge during the runs. So did this make the bridge physically stronger? Also another thing is that, just as Kaladin feel that his scar in his forhead is what define him, and thus not heal, the bridge is what defines Bridge 4. I feel that the bridge will be what symbolizes bridge four. As long as the memeber of bridge four is alive, the physical bridge will also be "alive" in a sense. It may also come back as something more significant to bridge four. Or am I just reading too much into it, and it's just Sadeas' engineer are just that good? What do you guys think?
  3. Couple of moments so far in my reread Skar moment "I think I'm going to to have to get used to smelly Horneaters, Rock" Skar said. "I'm thinking of joining your support team." "You think I will let you anywhere near cook pot?" "I might not ever learn to fly." He squished the part of him that whimpered at that. "I need to come to terms with the fact. So, I'll have to find another way to help." "Ha. And the fact that you are glowing now with Stormlight right now is not at all consideration in decision?" --- That moment when you just think your not good enough and start thinking of giving up. I can feel Skar's pride crushed, and this made me tear up --- Bier of Bridge 4 "Go walk with your family, Rock. We can handle the bridge without you today. We have Stormlight." Lunamor rested his fingers on the smooth wood."No." He said "It will be a privilege to carry him one last time, for my family." "One last time?" Kaladin said "We take to the skies, Stormblessed," Lunamor said. "We will walk no more in coming days. This is the end." He looked back toward a subdued Bridge Four group, who seemed to sense that what he said was true. "Ha! Do not look so sad. I left a great stew back near the city. Hobber will probably not ruin it before we return. Come! Pick up our bridge. The last time, we march not toward death, but toward full stomach and good songs!" Despite his urging, it was a solemn, respectful group who lifted the bridge. They were slaves no longer. Storms, in their pockets they carried riches! It glowed fiercely, and soon their skin did as well. Kaladin took his place at the front. Together they carried the bridge on one final run--reverently, as if it were the bier of a king, being taken to his tomb for his eternal rest. --- This part really had me tearing up. That bridge caused them so much grief and hardship but it is also forged them to become who they are. It became part of them, and they have to move on from it. Made me wanna reread the first book again.
  4. TruthFinders Spren: SearchSpren Surge: Progression and Tension Tasked with the holy order of pursuing the truth. Modeled after Jasnah's pursuit for knowledge, this order exists to right the falsehood in the world. Known to always try knowing the enemy before engaging, it is rare to find them in the battlefield, though when they appear in the battlefield, the enemy's loss is already a guarantee. They are primarily scholars and police, their abiliy to talk to spirits of an object helps them in their investigation of crime evidence and artifacts. Oaths: 1st: Life Before Death, Strength Before Weakness, Journey Before Destination 2nd: I will always pursue the truth! 3rd: I will CHALLENGE my TRUTH before I challenge others. 4rd: I will always accept the truth.....even if I hate it 5th: I WILL MAKE A LIE INTO A TRUTH! ROFL! Best oath.
  5. Oh darn, thought I got something, thanks for WoB.
  6. I was rereading the Stormlight Archive again, and found something particularly interesting. This is in the first book when Wit asks Dalinar if he knows about Adonalsium. Wit quickly changes subject once he knows that Dalinar had no clue. But my question is, why did Wit think that Dalinar might know of Adonalsium? Is it because of the vision, or is it something more Did Wit already, at the time, felt Honors presence within Dalinar? What do you guys think?
  7. Oops, I guess I wasn't clear. The theory is that the Recreance was an event to spread honor's power out without Odium thinking of it as a threat.
  8. Here me out. I was thinking on the reason for Recreance. In the book, the cause was said to be because the radiants found out that the original voidbringer were humans. This seemed strange to me, seeing that a nahel bond is an extremely intimate bond, that they would just kill off their spren for this fact. Also, it's strange to me that they seemed to be horrified about the epiphany, yet do nothing to remedy the situation, the Parshendi remained as mindless slaves, treated like chulls. You would think that they may start feeling pity for the natives. This is where the theory comes in. The reason for Recreance is not related to the reality of Parshendi, but it more of an insurance for the future. Just as Leras from mistborn made plans for after his death, honor may have made his own plan for after his death. It is known from Dalinar's vision that Honor was still alive during the Recreance, and in Oathbringer, we learn that Honor was starting to lose his mind around Recreance. Honor and the radiants of the time made a plan, an investment for the future, the Recreance may be an insurance for the future that both the humans and the bonded sprens agreed about. So where is this Going? In the world today we have maybe a couple of thousands of these heavily invested entity right under odiums nose, (preservation's mist anyone) which may turn out to become the turning point that tips the scale. We know that Odium is not all-knowing just from the fact that he thought Shallan was an Elsecaller, a lie that she told. So it is quite possible that Odium may be fooled into thinking that the radiants abandoned their oath because of the truth. All just a theory that was orbiting in my mind. I wanna know what you guys think.
  9. You say no similarity, but that isn't nessarily true. Pretty much most creatures in Roshar has a carapace, from the chulls, chasmfiend, some cremlings, and even some plants. It's the way lifeform evolved to survive the highstorm. The Parshendi also, in fact, have carapaces of their own in warform. That is why it makes sense to rule that humans, who lack this carapace, would seem the unusual species, as they are "soft" as they put it. In the topic, when you say different from other species, I'm guessing your referring to their ability to change form. But from my limited amount of knowledge, it seems that the greatshells(referring to creatures with gemheart) may have a phase where they change their physique for a task. We see this with the Chasmfiend, where they turn into a huge solid carapace when they pupate. Maybe in their biology they would have other forms as well, but it is still not know to the humans, as they only ever confront a grown chasmfiend or pupating one. So I think the Parshendi are native, or was at least brought to Roshar in it's early form. P.s. I think when Sanderson referred the Parshendi as Neanderthal, I think he means the difference in brain power between humans and a dull form Parshendi. P.S. I think horses also came with humans as, they also lack the necessary biology to weather a highstorm. If horse+spren is true, i think this is closer to human's nahel bond, as horses are never referred to having a gemheart(which I think is necessary for Parshendi for their bonds) Just my 2 cents in this matter
  10. Oh okay Ya that makes sense. Elkohar does say that everyone is talking bad about him and specifically points out the guards. So I guess it would make sense that Graves men would reveal it to depress Elkohar and get him drunk.
  11. In WoR Szeth comes to the shattered plain to assassinate Dalinar instead of Elkohar. though even after Szeth revealing that he was not after Elkohar, Dalinar did not reveal it to anyone. And Kaladin did not reveal it either. So my question is how did elkohar know that? Just before Graves and Moash try to assassinate Elkohar says that "not even the assassin thinks I'm worthy of the throne..." So, how did he know? Or did someone spill it and I missed it? This questions been bothering me
