  1. Haven’t heard of it I’m afraid. Lately I’ve read Ancilliary Sword, some comics, and all of the released books in Maas’s Throne of Glass series.
  2. I think anyone can read the Alcatraz books and have fun with the humor and tropes.
  3. I just finished Wrath of Empire over the weekend, and Ben just keeps getting better. I think Wrath isn’t as strong of a novel as Sins, but it’s still very good. I really wish there had been a character index, cause it’s been quite a while since I read Sins and even longer since the original trilogy. I’ve read a ton since my last post, but I most recently read Assassin’s blade and am starting on Throne of Glass, both by Maas. I’m reading them for a friend, and while they’re pretty good they’re not great yet. A bit like the early rangers apprentice books or Alex Rider.
  4. Lord of the Rings battle for middle earth 2, Fortnite, and lots of FE heroes.
  5. AWOLNATION released a new album, and daaang it’s lit. I like their shift in style. It keeps their essentials but changes other things. And I don’t know how to describe that very well, but anyway it’s great. Also been listening to Khalid
  6. I might pop in real quick, I’ve got a lot of studying to catch up on but I can spare a bit of time
  7. I finished The Sandman main line of comics. It’s taken me almost a year, but I’ve really enjoyed it and do believe it is a masterpiece of modern storytelling. There were so many disturbing and provoking and delightful stories, and I could never stop reading the series for long. I also read Ringworld by Larry Niven, and I wasn’t really a fan. The characters just haven’t aged well, and it makes the story seem more like a macho adventure than a grand sci fun novel. I’m working on the collected novellas of Ursula K. Leguin, and I’m adoring it. She’s such a fantastic author, and I wish she had a greater popular fan base.
  8. Finished Oathbringer over Thanksgiving break obviously, and I'm getting back into Sandman. I finished vol 7 and I'm on vol 8 now, since that's how numbers work. I also read an interesting book on the ethics and morality of developing AI and their consequences. Catch-22 was really funny too. I might start Night Angel, but I dunno, still haven't really picked a series to read yet. I'm really psyched that Iron Gold comes out in 6 weeks.
  9. I haven't been very active on the site for the past two months, but I've been browsing around for the past week and things feel different. Obviously there's always a huge shock and influx of new members when a major book like OB comes out, but still. I do agree that I've seen a lot of posts with strangely high rep levels that seem very disconnected to the merit of the posts. I've also noticed a couple of really contentious threads where people have just been outright jerks, which is definitely not something I'm used to on the Shard. I'm not sure if that's because of the influx of new members or the more limited ability to self-police or a combination of the two. There's definitely been a strange vibe since I got back though, and I guess it's just weird.
  10. I'm well into Shadows of War, I've probably logged about 40 hours in so far. I'm near the end, just grinding through the final act. They really kinda went against LOTR lore, but for the first hal fof the game I don't mind cause it's still really really fun. This last bit, the Shadow Wars is a real grind and kinda frustrating. Once I finish I'm either going to go back to some of my pc games or start playing Skyrim on my roomie's Xbox.
  11. I’m playing Shadows of War, and so far it’s great! I bought a copy to play on my roommates Xbox and it was a good decision, there’s So much more in this game than in the original.
  12. Binged the entire thing with friends yesterday from 4 to midnight. Can’t even describe how amazing it was. That was probably the best 8 hours of television I’ve ever watched.
  13. I'm not sure that the fact that I use my face for my profile adds to my rep gains. The vast majority of my rep came from back when I was active in the social threads and was posting lengthy and/or humorous posts-often with memes- multiple times daily. Back in those days I used an avatar from my favorite anime, not my face. I think the rep I draw now mostly comes from when I give good book or tv recommendations or my friends pitty-upvote me
  14. Mine wasn’t the best for most of my life either. Since I’ve moved to university and had a lot more grown up things to do we’ve grown a lot closer though. It takes time, and it takes work. I wasn’t ever great at reaching out to him. One thing I’ve learned though is that you can become closer to anyone if you cook for them.
  15. It's an old pc game, it's available on steam and gog. I actually have a solid disc version of it, which makes me feel pretty special. It's got some compatibility issues with modern software, but there's fixes out there.
  16. I've just been goofing off around my game collection in my limited spare time. Been playing some Robin Hood: Legend of Sherwood, the best isometric stealth game that no one has ever played. Some Kingdoms of Amalur, some Portal 2. I've also started playing Fallout 4 on my roommates Xbox, I'm not very good but it's fun.
  17. I don't have any plans next week yet. Next Thursday would work especially well.
  18. Been having multiple Stranger Things re-watch parties to get ready for season two and convert my friends to the show. I'm also getting ready for the Arrowverse to come back tomorrow night with the premier of the Flash. I've also gotten back into Gotham, and I remember why I like this show so much. It's just so wonderfully over the to and aside from the original Batman animated series probably captures the comic book feel of the batman world better than any other movie/show. Now that Mad Hatter is mostly off the show I'm happy and ready to enjoy seeing Bruce turn into Batman. I've also been watching Friends on occasion, just when I need something going on, it's not my favorite but it's fine. I'm also probably going to start a re-watch of FMA:B because one of my new friends recently discovered anime and hasn't watched it yet.
  19. So I moved out to college and my university library doesn’t have it and neither does the app I usually use. That sucks it got cancelled! Now I don’t feel too bad about not being able to read it.
  20. Finished re-reading My Name is Asher Lev last night. It’s still a good story, but it didn’t mean as much to me this time reading it. I’m about halfway through Planet of Slums...it’s a hard depressing read. I did finish The Dragons Path last week, and I did really enjoy it. I’ll start on the second book sometime in October. I found an app that lets me access audio books from my home library, so I’ve started using that and it’s pretty lit. I have have about forty minutes each day walking to class and back home, so I’m going to start listening to Bluescreen by Dan Wells.
  21. Sorry I skipped out, something came up last minute and I stayed home. I look forward to seeing ya'll next time
  22. Meh, half my friends st that age were girls and I remember crushing on at least two of them by the time I was 8. It stretches plausibility, but I think it's within the realm of possibility.
  23. I'm going to Rippleglyph's game on Wednesday. I might be able to do Friday, but I was planning on going to the international cinema.
  24. Guess I should probably say pretty much the same thing. I'm moving in next week for thing, then moving in for real a few days after that. Looking forward to getting to know y'all!
  25. Meh, the first Runelords book is good. The next two weren't nearly as good. Four was eh. I couldn't be bothered to continue after that.
