  1. If you raise someone from birth, you get to control their belief system. If he's been raised since birth to believe that Mistborn (i.e Him) and Mistings are superior, its not hard to believe that he could start thinking of people as simple things for his amusement.

    The Set

So, who are The Set? Obviously, they're the organization that was funding Miles' robberies, but what are their goals? The kidnapped women are turned over to them, presumably for an Allomantic breeding program. Miles says they're part of the establishment, which makes me wonder if they're at least a semi-official branch of the Elendel nobles, or a breakaway church. He does mention that they seek revolution, however. More importantly, Suit claims that Miles got his ideology from him. So at least some, if not all of Miles Trellist ideals probably got filtered down from Suit. So, we have a (semi-official?) group that wants a revolution, is presumed to be involved in breeding Allomancers, and possibly follows Trellism. Also, does anyone else think its odd that they're taking the closest bloodlines to Mistborn, but as far as we know, aren't mixing in Feruchemists? If their goal is to breed an army, you'd think an army of Twinborn would be more effective than an army of Mistings. This gives me 2 potential goals that I think they're going for. 1) The more likely scenario in my opinion is that they aren't trying to breed an army of Mistings, but are trying to breed a Mistborn instead. In that situation, the lack of Terris blood would be a strength, not a weakness. 2) They are trying to breed an army of Mistings, but only for the purpose of using Hemalurgy to create a Mistborn instead. This is a fairly far-out situation, since we have no evidence the Set knows anything of Hemalurgy.
  3. All of which would be great if he decided to go against a well-armed group in a stand up fight. However, since he's a serial killer, I imagine he'd be slightly hard to go up against with machine guns and flamethrowers. He'd be almost unstoppable in the underground.
  4. That was my first thinking, that the Set was kidnapping women for the same reason Straff Venture had several mistresses. They're trying to breed another Mistborn. I can't imagine how powerful a Mistborn would be in a society where they would be the only one.
  5. I know plenty of actors that follow methods similar to Wayne's. They pay attention to the small details, they create backstories for their characters, even if it doesn't actually come into play. All of it has the point of making it harder to break character. I think Wayne is just a superbly talented actor, probably with some natural gifts, but nothing beyond the scope of normal human.
  6. I don't think Nicrosil and Chromium have been discovered yet. Wax thinks at one point about the WoF referring to 2 unfound metals, but they seem to be seperate from the 'lost' God metals. Besides, if they existed, I would think either Wax or Wayne would have at least thought about the possibility of a Nicroburst/Slider combo to get a powerful enough Time Bubble for train robbing.
  7. I always assumed that he was seeing the same thing as Vin's mist-spirit, doing its best to keep Alendi away from the well. Even the attack on his men would be somewhat similar to Preservation's attack on Elend.

    Bloody Tan

The best performances are those that can only be performed once.
  9. It has to do with the additive nature of age. In order to make yourself appear 30, you need to use an additional year of age every year you're alive older than 30. When you get to TLRs case, and are about 1050 years old, you're using a LOT of age to keep yourself young. Health works slightly different on the reversion than most. You won't revert to having the wounds that you healed, but you'll revert to your natural healing rate. With weight or strength, or enhanced senses, as soon as you actually stop compounding, you'll revert to natural abilities. With age, you have to continually make yourself appear younger. Once you no longer have the ability to keep yourself younger, you'll revert to your 'actual' age, much the same way that a feruchemist would revert to their natural weight or strength when their metalminds are empty.
  10. An interesting point popped up in the Bloody Tan thread that's worth looking at here. If Miles actually did get his beliefs from Uncle Suit, is there any reason that the Set at one point couldn't have modified the religion for their own ends? From the end of HoA, it seems as if the religion is still roughly the same as before, which would have made it almost impossible for Ruin to be behind those changes (since he was dead and all). The Set on the other hand, seems to be more than willing to do whatever it takes to meet their goals (robbery, kidnapping, and murder are confirmed, and we'll assume rape if they actually are trying to breed an army of Mistings).

And Tan obviously knew at least a little about Hemalurgy. Didn't Brandon confirm that his corpse museum was at least partially Hemalurgical?
  12. The wedding that Wax and Steris attend is the wedding of Lord Joshin and Lady Mi'chelle. So, congrats to Rubix and firstRainbowRose on your in-universe nuptials, and you better tell us what that scruffy beggar in all black told you, cause I'm betting it was some juicy Cosmere tidbits.
  13. So, I started reading Mr. Monster today, and something really reached out and hit me. John has a learner's permit. But he drives on his own. At least here where I live, a learner's permit only allows you to drive with a parent or certified driving instructor in the passenger street. But nobody, even the FBI agent who just got done talking with him about getting his license in a month, thinks its strange that he drove himself to the police station? What kind of parent just hands her kid with the learner's permit the car keys and lets them drive? And what kind of parents does Brooke have that send their daughter to school every day in the passenger seat of a car driven by a kid without a license? Heck, not 5 minutes after telling someone he drove himself there, they tell him it won't be long until he's out tearing up the streets. Sounds to me like he already is.
  14. My understanding is that it goes something like this: 1) Twinborn stores 1 'charge' of their power in a metalmind 2) They then burn that metalmind, releasing the power tenfold 3) Some of that 10x amount released is put into new metalminds, and the rest is used for effect. 4) By continually burning/storing, you have basically created an infinite supply of whatever ability you can store/burn. The only limit is how much of whatever metal you need can be obtained. To use a money metaphor, I tell you I am going to give you $10 for every $1 you give to someone else. You give someone $1, I give you $10. You take that $10, keep $5 for yourself, and give away $5. I give you $50. You keep $25, give away $25. I give you $250. You keep $125, give away $125. The cycle continues forever. You have basically created infinite money for yourself at the cost of giving away only a single dollar. Also, it seems that burning the metalmind releases the feruchemical attribute instead of the allomantic attribute. So Miles gets healing from burning his metalminds, but doesn't constantly see his alternate self.
