  2. From the album: Stormlight artworks 2023-2024

My interpretation of Shallan and Adolin's wedding outfit! The sketch with the idea lay in an abandoned folder for more than a year and I suddenly decided to return to it. To be honest, it turned out to be a big challenge and, in principle, I’m happy with the result. The color scheme was also a challenge: a sapphire dress embroidered with rubies? Jewelry, hairstyle. And that's just Shallan POV!! The final version may have been a little messy, but I'm glad I was able to play around with ideas and draw Shadolin, keeping in mind the headcanon of their wedding celebration (alas, we didn't get a wedding chapter in Oathbringer, but that's not a problem lol). Hope you like it!

  3. I'm sure many of you have heard about the refiner's fire and how we are being refined in the refiner's fire and that we need to go through intense heat to become purified and all that awesome stuff. But today I learned something crazy! It has to do when silver is purified. It goes through all the heat and pounding and all that, but the way that they know that the silver has been purified is when they can see their own reflection in the silver. So literally He is refining us, and we will be completely purified once God looks at us and sees in us a reflection of himself, of course not literally, but in every other way. And man that just hit me. Like He is refining us so that we can become like Him. That's all.

  4. I'm almost certain this idea has been done before, but I couldn't find anything posted here. Please note that this is a rough chart and not in any way definitive; it is a personal interpretation of how I think Shard Combination would work. All shards within a white box are a combo I see as being plausible. All Shards within a black box are double combos: doesn't count Grey boxes indicate Shards that would have extreme difficulty mixing. Pink boxes indicate Shard combos we know are canon. Green boxes indicate Shard combos that are possibly canon or could become canon. Blue boxes are not real Shards. They are my guess as to the sixteenth Shard and its respective combinations. I am aware that there may be inconsistencies with my logic. This is highly opinionated. However, I thought it would be beneficial to share it. If you have any questions, ask! If you have corrections, also ask! I am here to serve.

  5. I was reminded of what is possibly my favorite character trope by a fun podcast I've been listening to, so now I feel like writing something with that kind of character, and idk if I'll actually finish it, but I'm definitely going to write at least a little bit. Also, the character trope is like the person in charge/overseer/interviewer/whatever you wanna call it, but they're just like, really unprofessional and a little bit oblivious and usually have a kind of morbid sense of humor, but they're not funny on purpose. Idk if that makes sense, but I love it so yeah. I just needed to share that with the shard cuz yeah. I'm rambling now, so next thing: The newest Twenty-One Pilots single came out today, and it was a lot different than I expected, but I listened to it again and it immediately became amazing I'm not sure exactly why it wasn't that good the first time though, but I really like it now so yeah. Final thing: Duolingo has been giving me so many sentences trying to convince me it's not a machine... I don't know how to feel about this.

  8. Just as Kajsa thought this day couldn’t get any worse, she miscalculated and accidentally slammed into the huge wooden slab sticking out of her dad’s truck bed. She staggered, seeing stars, and barely caught herself on her knees before she could collapse entirely. Sitting there a moment, she clutched her head, afraid for a breath that she was bleeding. She would later discover, however, that there was almost no mark despite the splitting headache that would shadow her for the rest of the day. Scuddit.

  12. Last night at youth group, I had a philosophical realization. We will never live to see tomorrow. That sounds like a threat, but I mean the concept of tomorrow. Think about it. You can get very close to tomorrow - 11:59:59 or 23:59:59. But as soon as it hits midnight, it's not tomorrow. It's today. I told my friend this and she said, "Time zones. You stand on the border of them and reach your hand over to the other time zone. Boom. You touch tomorrow." And, yeah, she's right. But she didn't have to ruin my internal musing.

  16. They are pretty decentralized, basically only connecting through Kelsier, but he is rather hands-off (if Roshar is evidence of anything). And regarding communication, they uses Seon boxes (Roshar), possibly Tamu Keks (were considered by Brandon as the means of communication) and some trusted couriers would be also an option.

  21. I think what Wayne does is something any bendalloy misting could do with practice, the whole deal in Lost Metal is that he's so filthy rich he can afford to have tons of metal to mess around with which is not a luxury anyone else has. Marasi mentions at the start of the book that Wayne had been using his bendalloy to play pranks all the time before she caught him which probably gave him a lot of practice on shaping speed bubbles. Most people aren't going to spend a fortune on getting enough bendalloy to develop their skills, they'll just buy small amounts and use it only when they need it. By the time we get to Era 3 we might see more people able to do speed bubble tricks like Wayne if they've found ways to reduce the cost of the metal with new technology.

  22. On Brandon Sanderson's last livestream for the end of the WoR Leatherbound Backerkit he dressed in a glittery blazer and a bunch of bling and said he was the artist B-Swift. And then Emily Sanderson came on wearing a Chief's jersey calling herself E-Swift. It was a joke, because Brandon has a wonderful sense of humor, and because more fuel needed to be added to the fire that is the theory that Brandon Sanderson and Taylor Swift are the same person. (He did a similar thing at the end of the Secret Project kickstarter where he dressed up in bling and called himself B-Money, so it's a continuation of that joke.)

Del wakes up. the last thing she remembers was falling asleep after making an alliance. her ally is gone and it seems like all of the remaining tributes are here. she quickly checks to make sure she has her knife, but then just lies there, thinking. I'm going to die. there's only one winner here and I don't know how to fight. I killed ah... what's his name... Mark! but that was in self defense and I got lucky. I can try, but someone will beat me and I'll be gone. What a sad world.

Especially since all these website migrations Brandon did broke a lot of links. And for stuff that is now completely gone, you can update with a web.archive.org link.

  42. The Tale of The Three Trees (Not by me) Once upon a mountaintop, three little trees stood and dreamed of what they wanted to become when they grow up. The first little tree looked up at the stars twinkling like diamonds above him. "I want to hold treasure," he said. "I want to be covered with gold and filled with precious stones. I will be the most beautiful treasure chest in the world!" The second little tree looked down at the small stream trickling by on its way to the ocean. "I want to be a strong sailing ship," he said. "I want to travel mighty waters and carry powerful kings. I will be the strongest ship in the world!" The third little tree looked down into the valley below where busy men and busy women worked in a busy town. "I don't want to leave this mountaintop at all," she said. "I want to grow so tall that when people stop to look at me, they will raise their eyes to heaven and think of God. I will be the tallest tree in the world!" Years passed. The rains came, the sun shone, and the little trees grew tall. One day, three woodcutters climbed the mountain. The first woodcutter looked at the first tree and said, "This tree is beautiful. It is perfect for me." With a swoop of his shining axe, the first tree fell. "Now I shall be made into a beautiful chest," thought the first tree. "I shall hold wonderful treasure." The second woodcutter looked at the second tree and said, "This tree is strong. It is perfect for me." With a swoop of his shining axe, the second tree fell. "Now I shall sail mighty waters," thought the second tree. "I shall be a strong ship fit for kings!" The third tree felt her heart sink when the last woodcutter looked her way. She stood straight and tall and pointed bravely to heaven. But the woodcutter never even looked up. "Any kind of tree will do for me," he muttered. With a swoop of his shining axe, the third tree fell. The first tree rejoiced when the woodcutter brought him to a carpenter's shop, but the busy carpenter was not thinking about treasure chests. Instead, he made the tree into a feed box for animals. The once beautiful tree was not covered with gold or filled with treasure. He was coated with sawdust and filled with hay for hungry farm animals. The second tree smiled when the woodcutter took him to a shipyard, but no mighty sailing ships were being made that day. Instead, the strong tree was hammered and sawed into a simple fishing boat. Too small and too weak to sail an ocean or even a river, he was taken to a little lake. Everyday, he brought in loads of dead, smelly fish. The third tree was confused when the woodcutter cut her into strong beams and left her in a lumber yard. "What happened?" the tall tree wondered. "All I ever wanted to do was stay on the mountaintop and point to God." Many, many days and nights passed. The three trees nearly forgot their dreams. But, one night, golden starlight poured over the first tree as a young woman placed her newborn baby in the feed box. "I wish I could make a cradle for him," her husband whispered. The young woman squeezed his hand and smiled as the starlight shone on the smooth and sturdy wood. "This manger is beautiful," she said. And suddenly, the first tree knew that he was holding the greatest treasure in the world. One evening, a tired traveller and his friends crowded into the old fishing boat. The traveller fell asleep as the second tree quietly sailed out into the lake. Soon, a thrashing storm arose. The little boat shuddered. He knew he did not have the strength to carry so many passengers safely through the wind and rain. The tired man awakened. He stood up, stretched out His hand and said, "Peace." The storm stopped as quickly as it had begun. And suddenly, the second tree knew he was carrying the King of heaven and earth. One Friday morning, the third tree was startled when her beams were yanked from the forgotten woodpole in the lumber yard. She flinched as she was carried by a man on his shoulders through an angry and jeering crowd. She shuddered when soldiers nailed a man's hands to her. She felt ugly and harsh and cruel. But on Sunday morning, when the sun rose and the earth trembled with joy beneath her, the third tree knew that God's love had changed everything. God's love had made the first tree beautiful. God's love had made the second tree strong. And everytime people thought of the third tree, they would think of God. That was better than being the tallest tree in the whole world.

  43. Those are really interesting, I especially like the first one. I have a couple but they are mostly just variations - a "no choice" option It's a weird set of circumstances but imagine you were in a war where generals had all the breath. If one was gravely injured and knew they were going to die they could pass it along to any soldier nearby to prevent their army from losing a resource. This is similar to what happened to Vienna where someone knew they were dying soon and didn't want their breath to be wasted. I think it's similar to the generational breath idea but this one could be more impromptu. It also needs someone to be in the right place and the right time -You could also do gambling which is just a variation on buying. A casino on Nalthis where you wager one breath but could get two if you win. -employment This one is also strange. I remember in the books its mentioned that there are guards in the court of gods who have enough breath to recognize what heightening others are at. Do you need a certain amount of breath to get the job or are they given to you so you can complete that job? It would be interesting if there was a treasury of some kind where you get an allotment of breaths and must return them in a certain time frame. You would need a person to hold the breaths so it could be passed to different people but it is an interesting idea.
