  1. Conspiracy Theory: @Calderis and @Extesian aren't actually the good guys we all believe them to be. We all think they're so great because they have sooo many posts and so much rep and they seem so knowledgeable, whereas we've been being deceived this ENTIRE time. Actually, I don't know if deceived is the right word for it. After all Calderis always says how he doesn't understand why he gets so much rep and both Calderis and extesian have talked about how they are held on such a high pedestal when really, there are tons of people with more posts/rep/knowledge than them. So they admit it themselves. That they are fakes. What if good old Calderis and Extesian are actually being payed off by someone to perpetrate false information around the shard. Now they wouldn't do it in obvious ways most of the time, just in small subtle ways so that nobody even realizes until it is too late. Much like how ruin changed the writings slightly to influence the characters in mistborn. They are our ruin. They are the seventeenth shards entropy. And what if the person paying them off is none other than Brandon himself. Why do you think they're always sooo good at finding WoB's for everyone and how come sometimes they "could've sworn" there was a WOB about a certain topic that no one can ever find? They needed to use facts at first to gain respect and acknowledgement but now that they've made it to the top of the food chain they can more easily spread lies about the cosmere information we have to try and prevent more of groundbreaking accidental discoveries ruining Brandon's plot twists and surprises. They practically monitor this place 24/7 between the two of them. Calderis has said that he practically spends all day on the shard -- EVEN when he's at "work". And then while Calderis sleeps Extesian monitors. Maybe not always taking as much of a forward approach like Calderis but posting less often with more "facts" and "research" yet he still has around the same amount of rep anyway. In fact when this was brought up to them Calderis and extesian both mentioned how they have completely different techniques on how they operate on the shard. This would help their plot of espionage because even if a person dislikes calderis's methods they would probably appreciate Extesian's and vice versa. We think the enemies are only in the book pages but the real enemies are already standing with a knife to your throat thank you, and goodnight Disclaimer: i don't personally believe any of the claims or assumptions above and none of them are meant to harm or discredit any person in any way shape or form. It is not meant to offend or annoy either. Only for entertainment purposes (like most theories on here) Edit: @Calderis I don't think you're ready for this one: Conspiracy theory 2! I am Calderis incarnate and I have come to take my throne beside him! Okay, lets back up here. After all that is a bit of a dramatic statement. Which is why I will explain in explicit detail why it is correct. Firstly as our neighborhood Calderis pointed out to me earlier, our names are literally one letter away from being identical. It is a matter of vowels, whereas I have an o and he has an a. Next, would be the fact that neither of us feel worthy of gaining reputation. Like seriously guys, 13 rep? On this one post??? What even.... As Calderis has said he lurked a long long time before he started being active, but once he did start being active he rose through the ranks quickly. I didn't lurk for too long only a few months and when I did I would post every now and then but only rarely. Then sometimes between I think the beginning of the month and now I went from about 5 reputation to 74 and my post count which was barely 10 is now in the eighties. Amazing what such a short period of time can do, or at least it feels amazing to me. It probably isn't all too amazing in relation to people who gain that much rep on a daily basis. Which in saying that last sentence I'm proving how much I'm like him because he always says how he's nothing compared to some other people. Now, there is one distinct difference between me and Not Me. That being, Calderis has over 2k posts and I'm not even at a hundred. Compared to him I'm just a little shard baby. But then again, so was he at one point. So we're all of you, too. Everyone was. After all, you gotta start somewhere. But now what does this mean in context of the original conspiracy? Well this means that I'm likely a super-secret spy espionage dude in training to corrupt people's views of the cosmere and keep them from the truth. I guess we all have a side that we keep hidden. What's yours? Until next time, people of earth... OMG I DID A THING! IT HAS A HEART!!

  2. Ok makes sense. Araris. Don't think Flash is Elim, and Araris basically claimed. But why are the Neutrals voting on him then? It can't be a gamble, because they could easily win requiring no gamble. However, Araris is most likely an Elim, so that is that. But then why? I am so confused. Its mind games. It's all mind games. The Elims are toying with us now. The hour has drawn near, so the Elims want us to have one last futile hope before they crush the village like a gnat and completely obliterate all of our hopes and dreams. We really can do nothing but follow like puppets as they lead us on, twirling our strings around their hands and making us dance, dance, dance for their cruel amusement. Finally the noose has tightened. Finally the Elims have found their victory, and as we thrash and jerk, slowly losing air, the Elims laugh, for the hour has come. Yes, that was a joke. This doesn't mean anything. Please stop throwing stones at me.

  3. Chapter 3: Light of the Gods Warning: Contains major spoilers for Elantris. A second rip tore the sky of the Cognitive Realm. Odium smiled as the air around him surged with power. The hooded man and his acolytes had fled to the Physical Realm. Now that the rest of the power was scattered, he could focus on removing his opponents from the board. Starting with… “MINIONS, I ORDER YOU TO ELIMINATE…HIM.” “We obey.” - Strider and his fourteen companions ran to Elantris. Compared to the distance they had traveled from the mountainside pool to Kae, Elantris was practically across the road. They encountered two more Dakhor along the way, but his gun (“magic”, the others called it) made short work of them, and they continued uninhibited to the gates of Elantris. They were met with a horrific sight. The fires they had seen from afar were pyres. Elantrian bodies were being piled on them by Fjordell priests, and they looked still alive. That wasn’t the worst part. Twenty—no, thirty Dakhor stood guard at the city gates. They bared their teeth and drew their weapons. “Nice of you to join us,” one said. “We will burn your corpses with the others.” Strider drew his gun and squeezed off three rounds, hitting two of the demons. The others readied their various spears and axes. Worthless in a fight like this. He pulled the trigger once more but only head a click. Muttering about six-shooters, he tossed the gun aside and unsheathed his massive longsword. It glinted in the sun. This is a real weapon. Surrounded and outnumbered, he knew this was a battle he couldn’t win. But he and Andúril would go down fighting. - Raoden ran. I will not give in. I will not join the Hoed. I will not give in. I will not join the Hoed. He didn’t know how long it had been since the Shardpool. He didn’t think about it. Left, right, left, right. I will not give in. He dragged the stick across the ground. His pursuer was gaining. He didn’t think about it. Left, right, left, right. I will not join them. He didn’t think about anything except putting one foot in front of the other. - “Free consultation tomorrow at 8, alright?” With these words of departure to Odium, Mr. Red Facemask applied his Essence Mark and shifted realms. The eyes of his new body flicked open. He was in a burning city, surrounded by red-robed men and demons. His companions from earlier were fighting, but their strikes barely scratched their combatants. Next to him was Innocent Joe, Daniyah, Aralis, and the hooded man, still holding Aona’s body. He didn’t know where the others were, and he tried to push that thought out of his mind. Looks like I’m out of the frying pan and into the fire. - Left…right…left…….. Was he wrong about the Aons, about everything? Would they all die because of it? Right…… Raoden completed the line. Elantris erupted in light. - Requiem fought beside Strider. The blades of their swords did little, so they adopted a new tactic, swinging with extreme force as if to bludgeon the demons. It wasn’t enough. There were too many of them and they had too much stamina. As Requiem parried a blow, someone came flying in from behind the Dahkor, landing beside it and kicking it with full force (he was sure he heard bones break). It was the cloaked man, hood fallen down and a look of rage he had never seen. Daniyah, Aralis, Innocent Joe, and Facemask followed close behind. Then the walls of the city began to glow, not gradually but in one radiant instant. The Dakhor looked around, blinded by the sudden light and new opponents. The walls of Elantris weren’t the only thing glowing—the burning Elantrians shone with purity and rose, completely uninjured, to their feet. The demons fled. “Follow them!” the cloaked man commanded. Strider and the others ran to the streets in pursuit. “Let’s hunt some Dakhor.” - “Looks like we’ve searched this whole area,” Eobard said. They had split into groups to hunt the Dakhor; Strider, Eobard, Facemask, and the bird had comprised one group. After looking through their corner of the glowing city, they hadn’t even seen a mouse. “I think we’re clear—“ “Ex-ter-minate. Ex-ter-minate.” A group of what looked like huge metallic salt shakers came around a corner. Eobard would have laughed if they hadn’t looked so lethal. “Merciful Ilúvatar,” Strider said, “how many superpowered fighters does this Odium have?” Beams of magical energy shot from the salt shakers. Everyone scattered, everyone except Eobard, who just smiled. “Bring it on, you top-heavy rust buckets.” He ran like lightning up to the things and slashed at one as hard as he could. It bounced off. “Again!” he shouted. “Not fair…” The magical energy weapons hit him, and he fell dead. - The bird had fled at first sight of the metal salt shakers. Now, it doubled back around to the city gates. If I could just get past Mr. Hooded Cloak, it thought, maybe I could pickpocket the Vessel’s body…. Its thoughts trailed off as it saw Aona’s body and the cloaked man. His hood was still down, and he was weeping. As soon as he saw the bird, a look of utter hatred blanketed his face. “If you come one step closer to her, I will kill you so fast you won’t even need a trial.” Then he fell to his knees and sobbed. - Hours later, the person crept up to Eobard’s body. It was quiet now. The person lay their hand on his lifeless forehead. “Poor sap. Odium didn’t even bother to do a clean job, or even get the real one.” Suddenly, lasers shot out of nowhere. The Daleks had waited. The person ducked behind a building and vanished. “Allons-y!” This is a Day cycle lasting 48 hours. STINK has passed to the Beyond. He was an Evil person. The Flash has died! Here is his autopsy report: And here are the contents of his will:

  4. And for my next trick! It's time to change things up a little. 6 - Demons Run Requiem faced the Dakhor, mind racing. Everything was going wrong. The Dakhor fought the Elantrians. This was not a simple physical reality; it represented a much vaster conflict. In the cognitive realm, Rayse was turning the powers of Devotion and Dominion against each other, tearing the two shards apart. Murdering their vessels. Requiem had travelled to the time before Devotion and Dominion had perished. He had travelled to the exact time and place where gods were going to die. Requiem sidestepped a charging Dakhor, blocking the monster's blow off his forearms. He wore the discarded gauntlets of a dead Arelon soldier, which he had altered. They had acquired the telltale mirror-like surface given by the first reshaping, and they were hard enough to weather the blows of the Dakhor. Otherwise, he was unarmed. He needed to find a way to deal with the Dakhor. The creatures were completely blood-crazed, so probably most forms of distraction were out the window. These creatures were of Dominion... Perhaps that intent could be used against them. Hmm... His thoughts were interrupted by a suprise arrival. Behind the Dakhor Requiem faced, several people entered the physical realm, heralded by a burst of displacement-induced wind. It was the rest of the group who had remained in the cognitive realm, and the hooded man himself. Hood wore a look of unadulterated rage, and as he landed he delivered the Dakhor a kick that cracked bone. For a moment, the new arrivals held off the Dakhor, fighting them back. An instant before it happened, Requiem saw something in the shade-world. A movement in the cognitive realm, like a ripple across the surface of a previously calm ocean. Then the dam holding the ocean at bay exploded into a thousand pieces. The walls lit up all at once, blinding him for a moment. The Elantrians seemed to be rejuvenated, the fires quenched, their bodies healed, and their skin glowing just as brightly as the walls. And the demons fled. “Follow them!” the cloaked man commanded. Strider and the others ran to the streets in pursuit. “Let’s hunt some Dakhor.” With that, Cloak started chasing after the fleeing Dakhor, a look of fury still etched across his face. 7- Divine Wrath There were no Dakhor in sight. It looked, for a moment, like there was peace. But of course, there was no peace. In the distance, Requiem could hear them: “Ex-ter-minate! Ex-ter-minate!” Daleks. Odium's perfect soldiers, devoid of anything but hatred for everything. Requiem ran towards the sounds. By the time he reached them, it was too late. Eobard was long dead. Requiem searched the city to find the others. He found Hood, cradling a woman he didn't recognize. She wasn't breathing. "Hood... Who is that?" he asked. Hood didn't answer. The dead woman had a mark tattooed on her arm... Aon Aon. Requiem's eyes widened. "Is that... Is that Aona?" He asked incredulously. "Shadows... Rayse actually killed her." He bowed his head. Beneath the surface, he was still trying to analyze the situation. What did it say about Hood that he grieved so strongly for Aona? He would have had to have known Aona before the shattering, and cared deeply for her... Requiem was no expert on the time before the shattering, but only one person came to mind. Could this mysterious hooded man be Skai, vessel of Dominion? Requiem didn't know the answer. And he didn't think it would be wise to disturb Hood a second time. Could any of this be stopped? Odium was going to splinter Dominion. And then he was going to travel to Threnody, and splinter Ambition. And then he would desolate Roshar. What's more, Odium already had done those things. History was already written. Not on my watch. History could be changed. Time could be rewritten. From a nonlinear, non-subjective viewpoint - time was like a big ball of wibbly wobbly... time-y wimey... stuff. At least eighty percent of the time, creating a time paradox didn't divide by zero and destroy the universe. All he needed was a plan to defeat Rayse. 8 - An Ambitious Course Requiem stood atop the Atad mountains, standing waste-deep in Devotion's shardpool. The first sliver of the sun was just starting to creep over the horizon in the east. The others were still in Elantris as far as he could tell. And the Daleks were still terrorizing the city. It would be good to put a stop to that. Requiem tapped into the second reshaping. This one was significantly less expensive than the first reshaping, but he still wouldn't have been able to do what he was about to do without some help from Devotion's shardpool. He changed the entire mountain, dramatically altering the way the rock would interact with sound. Because rock and not a pure material, the effects were not permanent. The reshaping would wear off in just a few minutes. Now, to attract the attention of an evil god of hatred. Across Elantris, a deep pitched bell sounded, reverberating off every surface, and then slowly fading into the air. It was the exact same knell that rang incessantly in the shade-world on Threnody. "Daleks!!!" a voice thundered from the mountaintops, amplified beyond natural proportions. Requiem winced. At this rate, he would give himself hearing damage. Still, he could get a new body if he needed it. "Daleks!!!" he repeated, "Up here!!!" For a moment, Requiem heard nothing but the ringing in his ears. Then, scattered across the city, voices. "I-den-tify yourseelf! I-den-tify yourseelf!!!" The Daleks were lifting off into the air and slowly gathering around the mountain, like a flock of very ugly birds. Requiem soon faced the entire armada of Daleks, suspended in the air surrounding the mountain peak he stood upon. "You know who I am!!!" Requiem shouted. "I'M THE DOCTOR!!!" EX-TER-MINATE!!!! EX-TER-MINATE!!!! EX-TER-MINATE!!!! A wave of death hit Requiem from all sides as the Daleks fired. Requiem died instantly and his body was promptly reduced to ashes. "...and, hello again!" Requiem said, emerging from the shardpool, unharmed, and for some reason wearing a bowtie. "Miss me?" Another volley of death lasers converged on Requiem, disintegrating his body. "You really ought to stop doing that," he said, emerging from the shardpool a second time. This time, the Daleks held their fire. "And now that's over with... None of you know what to do now. So you're going to phone your leader and ask for help." The Daleks hovered in front of him silently, considering Requiem's words. Their solitary blue eyes were all trained on him. Then the lead Dalek's eye turned a deep red, and red lightning crackled around it. Odium's voice emananted from the Dalek. "YOU." Rayse said. "WHY HAVE YOU COME HERE?" "I don't suppose you'd be willing to just call it quits and leave right now, would you?" The Daleks opened fire again, killing Requiem again. He emerged a moment later from the shardpool. "I assume that was a no. Unsurprising. In that case... I'm here to kill you." Odium laughed at this. There was something truly disconcerting about a laugh that didn't have a trace of happiness in it. "NOBODY HERE CAN CHALLENGE ME. I HAVE DEFEATED AONA, AND I WILL DEFEAT SKAI. ALL THE THREADS OF THE FUTURE ARE VISIBLE BEFORE ME, AND I SEE NONE OF THEM IN WHICH YOU CAN STOP ME." "Yes, well. The thing about seeing the future is, there's always the possibility that somebody else can see it better than you. Such as... Ambition." "AMBITION IS NOT HERE, AND IS NO MATCH FOR MY POWER REGARDLESS." "Yes, Ambition is not here. Ambition is on Threnody, to be exact." "SO THAT IS WHERE AMBITION HIDES... THANK YOU, MORTAL. YOU HAVE DONE ME A SERVICE. I WILL BE VISITING THRENODY, ONCE SKAI IS DEAD." "No, you won't. Thing is-- and please bear with me, because this gets a bit complicated-- I originate from a time in the future where you've already splintered Ambition. The relevant point of that is that my... Condition, is a result of being bound to one of Ambition's splinters. And with my connection to the now living shard of Ambition, I've just called for backup. Ambition should arrive on Sel soon." "BY THE TIME AMBITION ARRIVES, DOMINION WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF. AMBITION WILL NOT BE ABLE TO FIGHT ME ALONE." "Correct! But wait! There's more! First, I'm standing in the middle of a shardpool! This is the nexus of Devotion's power, and Devotion is very, very cross with you right now. And second, I've literally been shouting this whole conversation from the mountaintops. And below us, there's a whole city full of people positively seething with the power of Devotion. If all those people verbally consent to it, the power of this shardpool can be unleashed against you. You will be fighting both Devotion and Dominion at once. And before you can gain the upper hand, Ambition will join the fray. And third, you can't run away from this, because your vessel is stuck in the physical realm right now, infiltrating Hood's party under the alias "Wanderer." I took the liberty of scanning the spiritual DNA of some of the people in our group. I know that you have other agents infiltrating our group. This won't be over until all your agents are dealt with. But for now... Checkmate. Your move." TL;DR: I'm the Doctor. I had far, far too much fun revealing that in my RP. I have two abilities. The first is an ability to scan people's spiritual DNA. This is basically the opposite of what a sheriff role does in a typical mafia game, because I get a guilty result on the Godfather (Odium), but I don't get a guilty result on any of the other mafia if I scan them. The second ability is a passive power that makes it so that killing me won't do what you want it to do (time lords being able to regenerate and all that). This is why I don't really care about revealing myself. I decided not to reveal immediately, because suggesting the Yitzi lynch without claiming let me gauge people's reactions. I venture to say that my plan worked in that capacity, because in waiting to reveal, I let Asterion soft-clear themselves by voting on Yitzi. So good job, Asterion. If there are any protective roles (ironically the one called "Doctor" can't protect other players), I recommend they consider protecting Asterion, because they are all but confirmed to be villager. But at this point, I think I've allowed enough time for information gathering. Plus I'm getting bored. Plus, I'd feel a lot better about this if the vote was closed to the possibility of vote manipulators. Hence, going public. I nearly revealed my identity on accident, in the early game, by displaying my ignorance of the essence marks. Because Ecthelion never told me what they were. This is why I was watching very carefully to see if anybody else did the same. And so when Yitzi made his remark about essence marks, I scanned him. And his spiritual DNA is glowing red with the power of Odium. To Yitzi, I'm kind of sorry about this, because this feels like I got really lucky to find you this early. So. I hereby declare any discussion on today's lynch to be over. Please don't let that be the end of all discussion, however. You should just be discussing tomorrow's lynch, not today's. @cloudjumper @Yitzi2 @asterion137 @StrikerEZ @BrightnessRadiant @Sami @Manukos @Megasif @Clanky @OrlokTsubodai @Aonar Faileas @Roadwalker @Alvron @A Joe in the Bush @Daniyah @Araris Valerian

  8. After nominating myself I'd better do this 1. Provide a picture (if you are comfortable with that). Sorry that's ridiculous Here's one with my lady 2. Provide your real name (if you are comfortable with that). David! Dave usually. 3. Which book is your favorite and why? For most of my adult life it was The Silmarillion. Such glory, tragedy, history, subtlety of language and epic scale for something so short. And the most beautiful creation myth I've ever read. That was until The Name of the Wind. For me, it is perfection. The most compelling fictional character I've read. Beauty of prose that captures my emotions the way Kvothe describes music as doing (not as perfect prose as Book of the New Sun, but BEAUTIFUL). A story where my heart breaks, in a way no Red Wedding could make it do, over (Name of the Wind spoilers) Brandon is my favorite author because of the world he's created, his characters and his narrative structure. But nothing can touch Rothfuss for me for a single story. Favorite Brandon? Stormlight, no contest. I love Warbreaker, and Mistborn has an extraordinary story. But Stormlight is utterly glorious. 4. What have been your main contributions to the community? What are you known for? Probably known for nominating myself for this thread now... No I think my main contribution has been WoB-hunting. With the absence of some very obscure old sources, or certain WoBs that are only posted on this forum and can't be searched, I can find most of them quickly. I probably used to be known as the most prolific daily contributor until Calderis accelerated his efforts. Now that I post less I'm probably most known for banter with Calderis Or just my rep:post ratio as someone who's been on here only 7 months. But if I can be known as a good resource for others, and maybe one day a decent theorist, that will be all I want 5. What made you join the forum? I started reading Brandon two years ago, found this site pretty quickly but, once I realized what it was, avoided it diligently until I'd read every Brandon book for spoiler reasons. That took about 6 months, then I started lurking, learning everything I could. I started an account 7 months ago to be able to respond to interesting threads but then everything changed. By posting it made me research. I'm an evidence - based person. I have to see a textual reference or WoB before I'll accept an idea as established. That meant researching before I posted. And very quickly getting far more detailed understanding of the Cosmere through that process. Then I read all the books again, and now my knowledge is pretty good (but still nothing on many of the long - time Sharders). 6. How many hours do you spend on the shard on a given day? Wow. Less than I did 3 months ago. I still read almost every Cosmere thread, though the last few weeks I've dropped off. But yeah the window is always open (I only use my mobile) and it's the first and last thing I check on my phone each day. So addiction level, but not yet problematic. Perhaps..... 7. Describe your fondest Forum experience. As an ongoing thing, the interplay between me, @Calderis and @The One Who Connects, as we're the three most prolific Cosmere posters (Connects a fair bit less but he's a WoB master). Particular post, I guess the one on the mechanics of Elantris with the AonDor, which may not be right but was the best and most supported one I've done. But I love this place generally. The welcoming culture, the diversity of people with one common niche love linking them. The level of academic rigor and scientific method applied to theories. The incredible job the admins and mods have done, and keep doing, to make this site so enjoyable and actually truly meaningful to a lot of people. I love it 8. What is one thing that Brandon does really well? Reversals of standard narrative, perfectly foreshadowed shocks, perfect pacing of character development. Basically, the things that make the Brandon Avalanche successful. And characters. His characters are so varied, compelling and relatable for a genre that is often plot-driven. 9. What is one thing that he could work on? Prose. I'm not saying he should, he knows his strengths and plays to them, and his writing pace would suffer if he tried to be Rothfuss. But he has some outstanding lines and passages of intense beauty, and if he could be like that consistently he would be unrivalled. I hope he never tries to. 10. Which fictional character is the best representation of yourself? I've answered this elsewhere but there are facets to this. My id wants me to be Kelsier. My ego wants me to be Kaladin. My superego wants me to be Hoid. My friends would think I'm Lightsong. My colleagues would think I'm Sazed. My family would think I'm Khriss. My girlfriend would think I'm Adolin. I think I'm most like Lightsong, if Lightsong didn't have everything he wanted at his fingertips 11. Any additional comments, whether it be about your life outside of the forum, favorite food, your website, or...anything! I'm a traveler (35 countries or so) and I lived in Prague 2015-2016. I'm Australian and live in Canberra. My partner is Czech. I have a big black fluffy cat named Toast (he thinks his name is Kitty). And I'm a Sanderholic.

  13. You've caught me. My attempts to interlace false information with the real and true have been a subtle ploy to mislead you all along. Well done. You discovered one more layer to the mystery. And by that I mean you've made me laugh. This was ridiculous. Thanks.

  14. Okay so I saw a few of the Explain a Film Plot badly things earlier and thought they were funny, so I decided to do them for the cosmere books. I think some of them are funny, so I decided to share them. Hopefully it'll at least get a few laughs. If anyone has any more or any different ones, please post them. Spoilers for the cosmere, obviously. I'll label each one just in case though. The Final Empire: Well of Ascension: Hero of Ages: Alloy of Law: Shadows of Self: Bands of Morning: Warbreaker: Elantris: I couldn't think of any for Stormlight, hopefully someone else can [EDIT by Moderator: This topic originally was solely cosmere but has moved beyond that, so I moved this to Entertainment Discussion.]

  18. Three Bondsmith spren, three Bondsmiths. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar and sometimes three possible Radiants of one Order mean three possible spren of that order.

  19. 'Sup everyone, I guess I should introduce myself here on account of it being proper protocol and all. I've been reading Brandon's books for a while now (except I haven't read AU), and I've made it through most of the cosmere ones. Then I discovered 17S and was like "oh so that's why that Hoid guy keeps showing up everywhere." Anyway, there's lots of interesting stuff floating around here so I thought I should join on the off chance that I had something interesting to add. Anywho, that's about all I have to say. Oh, except that I don't accept cookies from strangers. Nothing personal, you know, just the principle of the thing

  22. Capable. During my few excursions there the spren have mentioned the expanses, and, unless my thinking is flawed, at least one of them could be another planet. My spren hints at this, but he's frustratingly vague. Am I wrong in assuming this means I can worldhop? (I hope not. It sounded storming cool!)

  23. So anfter reading everything again (to all of my rl friend's contempt ) I will have to agree that it is certainly odd First off at page four straw said : <[Something important in RL is happening this week, so I won't be on the Shard until Saturday ]> Then alvron voted straw cos "his name seems evil". But it apeared to be a pokevote Then many people vote and unvote alvron and it is clear that the alvron lynch is not likely to happen Also cloud said what he said and got two votes because of it Then later at page 10 alvron makes a vote tally and reaffirms his vote saying that he hadnt replyed yet And @Araris Valerian votes straw for the same reason basicaly , lurking , (this apears to me as fishing for new targets I would love to hear your thought process) Also cloud reaches 5votes and as a response joins the bandwagon understandably And then in quick succession @Drake Marshall and @Clanky hopped on saying that theyd rather kill a lurker The oddest thing about this lynch is that all the votes apart from cloud's were due to straw's inactivity which he explained early on!! Well it isnt the weirdest of bandwagons but idlike to hear what the voters have to say and correct me if I made any mistakes, sorry but this is my first deep dive on a SE game

  24. This has always been my theory as well. Something I always found very interesting was in one of Dalinar's first flashbacks. The wife, Taffa, at one point exclaims "Three Gods, Heb". At first it seems most likely this could be a reference to Honor, Cultivation and Odium, but if it did I would find that very odd, as it feels many exclamations such as this tend to use more benevolent deities. I have felt perhaps this is reference to 3 powerful spren, maybe even the same spren tied to bondsmith.

  27. One of my favorite authors had a contest on his facebook page where he was standing under a mountain somewhere in Utah and the first one to guess, which one, would win a first edition signed copy of his book. I copied and pasted a list of every mountain in Utah in the comment box. He declared me the winner out of sheer ingenuity!

  31. Hah! Also, if there are only ever 3 Bondsmiths, and from WoB we know that he considers the heralds to be part of their order, as order head, would that mean that you would have; Stormfather Bondsmith Nightwatcher Bondsmith Herald Bondsmith Perhaps that makes 3? Or maybe there's another kick chull god spren we are yet to meet that the 3rd Bondsmith will bond with..

  32. Rock didn't mention seeing one when he caught Hoid worldhopping, so I don't think he does have one. It is possible to take in Stormlight without having a spren. Vasher is able to do this, as is anyone with an Honorblade. Using Stormlight, on the other hand, would require some way to 'channel' the Stormlight, like being bonded to a spren. Vasher isn't able to Awaken with Stormlight; he can take it in, he can consume it, but he he hasn't (yet) figured out how to use it like Breath in all fashions. I believe at a recent signing, the Chicago one I think, there was a discussion with Brandon about spren and Shadesmar/Physical Realm travel. It's hard to circumnavigate the planet with a spren, because of the way Shadesmar is mapped to a planet (they can't jump across from one edge of the map to the other, since Shadesmar isn't connected that way. The International Date Line would be a barrier to spren.) But, if Hoid was bonded to something else (like a Seon, or Nightblood) that wasn't bound to Roshar in the same way, there shouldn't be any problem with him worldhopping with it. (Although, like I said, Rock didn't see one with him, so I don't think he's got one.) But, deep down, I would like to believe that Spanky (from Secret History) wasn't just a corpse, but was Hoid's spren. He's just not a very lively spren.

  43. Allow me to speak candidly. Unless there is some kind of understanding we can reach, I have literally no reason to want Jondesu dead. He will not in the foreseeable future be attacking my people, furthermore his continued existence prevents the Alethi from trying to shove the lynch on an unaligned Parshendi. Please, do not bother voicing the sentiment that "lynching a Ghostblood is good for everybody" because that simply isn't true. I may be working towards peace, but I'm not a blind altruist. The one and only reason I would support lynching Jondesu would be as part of an agreement for mutual peace. I would have cause to lynch Jondesu only if doing so would result in the death of a Son of Honor. Similarly, I understand that, according to your win condition, lynching a Son of Honor is not your priority. However, if the cooperation of the Parshendi means anything at all to you, you are going to agree to do this anyway, just as I would agree to lynch Jondesu even if it isn't actually in my interest to do so. If you are going to work towards peace, you ought to accept this condition of peace. It's a reasonable request, if you understand the difficult position we are in. If you aren't going to work towards peace, pretending to do so won't do you any good. I commend Elbereth for being honest about her intentions.

  45. Dalinar has shown prejudice against Darkeyes. It's a benign prejudice of the privileged assuming those below them deserve their lot, but it is there especially in WOKs. Is it dishonorable to hate those who have harmed you or to look down on those of a lesser class? No. It's wrong, but it is not a matter of honor. The fact that Kaladin hated lighteyes but still saved Dalinar shows his honor. Honor is doing what is right because it is right and that is what Kaladin did despite the cost to himself and his men. He never promised Sadeas he wouldn't save Dalinar. Sadeas barely knew who he was, therefore he could not betray Sadeas. Nor did he betray Amaram. Amaram betrayed him. Kaladin considered taking revenge, but he tried what he thought was the legal method instead. He made mistakes, but they were not dishonorable. The only dishonorable action is that he did not turn in Graves, but I'm sure he did after he saved Elohkar. Sorry, but he seems as honorable to me as Dalinar if not more so. Dalinar because of his past shame, decided to use his power to do what is right. That is easier than doing what is right after being kicked to the ground and trod upon. The fact that Kaladin would save those he did not like, which includes Dalinar because he didn't like him or trust him until Dalinar freed him, shows him to be more honorable. But Dalinar is awesome, so I see it as more as a tie.
