  2. Day 24: "There were many good years. Good decades, good centuries. We believed we were living in paradise. Perhaps that was our downfall. We wanted our lives to be perfect, so we ignored imperfections. Problems were magnified through inattention, and war might have become inevitable if the Bore hadn't ever been made." Rand or Mierin remembering?

  3. The thing I don't get is why they follow her at all. She's not fit to lead. She cannot admit that she could be wrong - an egregious fault in a leader that could also be a weakness. Good things seem to happen to her by chance but there's some measure of chaos preceding her success. I just read the part in Shadow Rising where Rand Portals them to Rhuidean and she starts acting immature and petulant, thinking that she's the most important thing there above He Who Comes With The Dawn and an experienced woman like Moiraine and even Aiel custom. And then she complains about it not being fair that everyone else gets to go to Rhuidean and she's faced with the threat of scrubbing pots. Scrubbing pots! Uh, Egwene, did you not listen when the Wise Ones were saying that some people never returned from Rhuidean, or went mad? Oh yeah, sorry, scrubbing pots, waaaaay worse than death or insanity. And she even had the audacity to think Rand and Mat needed to grow up because Rand make a joke out of nearly burning himself out (which, given his circumstance, he was fine and therefore had the right to feel relieved). Light does she infuriate me.

  4. We were amused by its comments about escaping. Truly, it knew nothing about how fast we could move with the boosted pewter. If nothing else, we could jump with much greater acceleration that any Coinshot could afford on the account of its body being ripped by its own Push. Neither did it know that without direct contact, overly boosted Nicrosil created a bubble of Nicroburst effect, withing which any Allomancer burning metals would find him or herself without anything to burn very fast. The chances of it successfully escaping were slim... But we urged caution to myself. Arrogance and overconfidence were preludes to a fall, something that we have seen many, many times... But its time, like ours was running out, burst of Investiture expended. I shook my head to clear it a bit, and went to the side of the cat, who was in obvious pain I knew well enough. I sat near him and started to gently massage several point on his head, something that I found helped me in similar situations. "Something tells me hat we better limit ourselves to common Nicroburst, since it doesn't affect spikes." - I remarked idly - "Also, you should decide what to do with your second mental spike. I am relatively certain I can replace it without adverse effects, but the decision is yours."

  5. Day 23: "Light burn me," Rand said. "You're not him, are you?"

  6. Day 22: "Why are you helping me?" Perrin demanded. "I'm fond of you, Perrin." Sounds like Tylee helping Perrin at the battle. Wording makes me think female, and she is the only female I can think of not bound to him by oath or friendship.

  7. Yeah I've always hated Egwene, She adds very little except for her strength in the power (which is becoming less and less remarkable as stronger characters take over) and some mysterious charisma which has never gotten through to me. I totally get why people are following Rand, either fear, respect or some combination therof for the DR mostly, but Egwene just acts like a stuck up cow the whole time and yet people somehow agree with her more often despite how flawed her thinking is she just has this huge undeserved sense of entitlement. Anyways rant over. Excited for AMoL and hoping that a certain someone gets what's coming to her at Merrilor

  8. Day 21: And you don't feel a small measure of pride? Egwene asked herself. Rand al'Thor, once simple village boy and your near-betrothed, now the most powerful man in the world? You don't feel proud of what he's done?

  10. Day 19: "What did you do to your eye?" "A little accident with a corkscrew and thirteen angry innkeepers." I do not think there is any doubt the question is about Mat. Probably Nyn asking him due to the way it is blaming him instead of asking what happened.

  11. Day 18: Fortuona ignored her, standing. "This woman is my new Soe'feia. Holy woman, she who may not be touched. We have been blessed. Let it be known."

  12. Day 17: "It is one of the three things which I will require of you. Your payment, to me, in exchange for my life." This is probably Rand talking with everyone about the Peace. Makes me wonder what the other two are though.

  15. Day 14: That, she replied back, is something one should never, never say to an Aes Sedai. Ever. Probably something like "I owe you," or "You are too old for this," or "I love you."

  16. Day 13: "We must spread the word to all of our allies," Amys said. "We must not use this weave." This almost has to be balefire. Entire series has been talking about how it is bad to be used.

  20. Day 9 The letter was written in Mat's hand. And, Elayne noticed with amusement, the handwriting was much neater and the spelling much better in this one than the one he'd sent her weeks ago.

  23. Day Six: The right thing had always seemed clear to Galad before, but never had it felt as right as this. Those streaks of light were like indicators on a map, arrows pointing his way. The Light itself guided him. It had prepared him, placed him here at this moment.

  28. I started reading the Wheel of Time when I was in high school around 1997. I have enjoyed the work of Mr. Jordan immensly and was completely sadden by his death and for the future of the books, honestly after I found out that he died I didnt pick up a book that was taken up by Brandon Sanderson. Honestly and I hate to say it but the series just seems to lack Mr. Jordans mannerisms in writing sadly I will finish the series to conclude such an awesome read but I can tell that this was picked up from a Masterpiece of literature to something that seems to just fill the pages. The Wheel of Time is an awesome read up to the death of Mr. Jordan, just doesnt have to same feel to it that it did before. I know most of what Brandon wrote was from notes and stories that Mr. Jordan left behind but the story telling is just not the same for me. Sadly, though Brandon is a good writer, he fails brilliantly in the shadow of Mr. Jordan. As for the future, the story died with Mr. Jordan.
