@Erosaito, on a side note- what software do you use? I'm considering trying digital art again (Stopped a while ago),

thanks!
And I use good ol' photoshop. (And Paint Tool Sai to line art sometimes.)

Photoshop? I never found it very convenient for art. Paint Tool Sai however I need to try out

Chibi Shallain!!!! :D

@Erosaito @Darkness Ascendant Do you do digital art on the computer? How do you draw lines and stuff?

Line-art with a tablet and stylus.

@Erosaito, I'll admit, some of the brushes are useful, but for me, colouring isn't convenient on it.

@Delightful, I use my old iPad 2 for the art, sometimes it glitches and lags, but other than that, it is great

@Darkness Ascendant What do you actually draw with? Some kind of stylus? your finger?

@Wychmire That's definitely  more realistic for me, I'll look into it. Thank you! :)  Does it need to recharge? I can see it works wirelessly and there's a pack thing to buy separately that looks like it recharges, are both necessary?

@Delightful, Stylus, fingers are good sometimes.

Also, do Wacom tablets connect to your computer, right?

also, Delightful, you thinking of picking up the pen, of taking up art? Ars Gratia Artis my friend, always remember that.

I don't know what that means I dont speak latin :)

I've been drawing with pencil but its hard to share with people because taking pictures of drawings with my phone kind of sucks. Also I figure with digital art the colours will be crisper, my pencils cant break, the eraser wont leave smudgy marks everywhere, I can zoom in to do stuff in detail....it just seems like the better albeit more expensive option. :)

Ars Gratia Artis, Art is the reward of Art!!

I had the same idea as you, when migrating to digital art, I ended up stopping because end of the day, it just didn't feel right, there just wasn't the same feel as doing traditional art, getting a bit messy, you know, main reason I am picking up digital art is for our Stormlight Archive miniseries project, hopefully I will be competent enough as Sheep by then XD

BTW how do you pronounce wacom? I'm tihnking whack-om but that sounds a little weird?

I have no idea

What's the miniseries?

That is a fair point. I definitely prefer paper books over ebooks. I have no idea is that follows through with art as well. I guess Im not so psychologically attached to the smell of pencils though :P

@Delightful So, drawing with a tablet is alot different than drawing with traditional pen and paper. First of all, you're touching the tablet but your lines appear in your computer screen. It takes some getting used to. Second of all, the texture and feel are completely different. With pencil, you can feel the paper and the texture of the pencil, while on the tablet, it's more smooth and can seem weird.

Wacom is indeed pronounced "Wack-om"

Wacom Tablets can range between $60 to $2000. I think the cheapest modern wacom is $100, but you can find some older models in websites like Amazon. The most expensive ones are actually monitors that you can draw on them. They have more pressure sensitivity than any other wacom tablet and are amazing displays. The main differences are that they usually have more levels of pressure sensitivity and that you are actually seeing your drawing appear in the same place that you're touching.

If you want to try out digital art, I recommend buying one of the cheapest wacom tablets. They're very good! They connect to your PC via a USB cable and the pen is wireless and doesn't need batteries or charging. Don't stop drawing on pen and paper though. There are things you can only learn by doing that. And please... don't buy anything that's not Wacom... Most of the other companies' tablets are cheaper but also worse than Wacoms.

hope that helps.
